As somebody who is on the fence for the next-gen, the only reason I'm waiting to get a new console is because of the games. I usually wait at least 18 months before I buy so there's a small library of games available.

Plus, I'm waiting to see if Nintendo will finally show some Zelda and Metroid this E3, although I also can't wait to see Halo V, more FF XV and Witcher 3.

Since the forced Kinect is over, that has made the Xbox One look much better. I've been playing Xboxes for ages and they're great systems.

I think he's mistaken, the reason people aren't "upgrading" to an Xbox one is because it's not an upgrade, it's a downgrade. I have both a PS4 and and an Xbox One. The Xbox one is worse than the 360, the menu is cumbersome, inviting friends or even checking who's online has become a chore. Xbox one does everything 360 does, just worse. Not to mention there isn't a single exclusive game coming out for Xbox One this year, and all the multi platform games look and run better on PS4. I dont recommend anyone to purchase an Xbox One but if you have to mine is on Amazon if anyone is looking for a discounted pre owned Xbox One

M $ is funny. How is it we know how much PS4's are sold ( 7million) and only know how much xb1's was shipped (5 million). Yup their getting their assesvkicked and now the scrambling begins. Also saying people love their xbox 360 so much is reason for slow sales is delusional and a ridiculous attempt to deflect the obvious.

I currently have a Xbox 360 & a PC.

I am in no hurry to jump to the next gen consoles simply because i have the PC.

Now if at some point i decide to jump into the next gen consoles it will be the PS4.

1. Xbox 360 doesnt have compatibility with the Xbox 1 so i dont care about continuing Microsoft products. My decision is impartial.

2. cheaper

3.dont care much for kinect

4.kinect full functionalities will probably never come to my country (Greece, part of Europe)

5. I love RPGs and PS3 has a lod of exclusive RPGs. Microsoft doesnt bother with them (exclusive deals like Sony etc)

For example the Tales RPGs (over 5 of them released on PS3 after Tales of Vesperia on Xbox).

6.Minimal difference, but over 10 games of the next generation have 1080p on PS4 but 900p on Xbox1

In the end even if Xbox 1 is released without Kinect, i probably wont buy it.

Because i want more RPG games.

Thats my opinion, if anyone cares about it.

Every time I look on Gamespot I see a new article about how the ps4 is so much better than the xb1, I'm trying to decide which one to get but it seems like they aren't giving the xb1 a fair shot and are blindly hugging the ps4 while closing their eyes.

The bashing on Yusuf is unprofessional and childish, the man is just trying to sell his product and said nothing wrong.

It won't matter what Microsoft is going to show at E3, Gamespot will put it in a bad sunlight and praise the holy ps4.

I'm sure when he says "knock on wood" considering the holiday lineup he's addressing possible delays and not the fact that he doesn't know what the lineup is.

This Yusef guy is just sooo dumb...Stop trying to come up with excuses why your product sucks...PS3 outsells xbox 360, shouldn't he know that? I'd rather have a ps3 than a xbox 360 or xbox one...

Company like Microsoft are just too big to fail.

they have taken two losses at launch are still

afloat. Anyone remember the HD-DVD. That crashed and burned Now Kinect . If That would've happened to Nintendo Mario would be a playable character in Street Fighter or something

Wow... for that response from MS... I'm not buying a XB1.   Really?  XB1 isn't selling as well as PS4, b/c 360 owners are happier with their system than PS3 owners are with theirs?

Fvck you MS...  I hate people that lie to my face and expect me to be stupid enough to believe it.

The only time I even turn my 360 on is to stream videos off my PC.  Can't even remember the last time I played a game on it...  actually I think it was Black Ops 2..... wow its been over a year since I've played a game on it.

PC / PS3 / PS4 / Wii U  FTW!!!    Fvck XBOXdONE!

I bought both a PS4 and an XBox One. I'm not 100% happy with both, but the problems are different. More correctable with PS4, the only problem there being a lack of available games that I have an actual interest in. I bought the XBox One first because I was sold on Titanfall (mistake), so there's not a lot for me to pick up on the PS4 that I don't already have. They needed a better exclusive lineup from launch 'til now. The XBox One is glitch riddled, though. Some of the apps crash the console,  and the Kinect doesn't work correctly. The features are unusable. If I had an application for it as its marketed "entertainment console", that would be one thing, but I'm really just a gamer. They could've done better than they did. That's not even going into the spec discrepancies between the systems that makes PS4 a more attractive buy for the core gamer market.

The reason why...simply Microsoft's marketing team simply sucks! Sony didn't have to do anything, but sit back and watch.  Were they actually hired to screw up the Xbox or what people? For such a huge company, this was and is embarrassing!  Is the ps4 really better?  Not really...I have both and agree the ps4 has a juicer gpu and ram, but the xbox one is much better cooled and does have a better controller.  Twice, I've had my ps4 bog down due to heat issues, something that should never happen with the larger cased xbox one.  Now, enough BS...let's release some good games...I am simply bored here! Let's see some next generation stuff that truly outshines these 8 and 9 year old consoles!!!!

cheers,

Why is PS4 outselling Xbox one? Easy answer!

PS4 is better. End of discussion :D

Pretty sure I play my ps3 MUCH more than my 360. Sorry, it doesn't have enough RPG's to keep me coming back lol

The 360 comment was lame, but the 40+ markets is an adequate reason.  Think of it this way, MSFT has sold 70% (5M/7M) of PS4's units in --32% (13/40+) of the same markets.  That's a great ratio which means when they do expand to other areas (especially w/o kinect now) they should make up the ground fairly quickly.

People wouldn't pay the $100 extra to buy a Kinect with Voice commands if it doesn't work anywhere outside of the US.  There was another article somewhere that said they're even having problems now getting voice to work in other areas correctly, delaying the rollout of those services.

I love my XB1+Kinect & Voices and think it provide's great value.  I am hoping the w/o Kinect settings will increase the resolution capabilities however.  That's the only downside vs PS4 imo.  XB1's leaked E3 Games Lists look far superior to Sony's E3 leaked Games lists also.

@soulfood4 say xbox go to friends, how is that a chore... or click friends list. and it pops up. its one click. and he wasn't saying its an upgrade from ps4, its an upgrade from 360.

@smashingme

I am not even sure if you are going to read this, but let me help you out.  What Microsoft did at E3 2013 was unforgivable to people who read about video games 24\7.  Their policy, their price, and their smug responses to legitimate questions drew a strong line with gamers.  They lost a lot of their die hard fans with their E3 shenanigans. They are viewed as non trust worthy.

The average consumer is not on gamespot everyday, reading and, talking about video games.  The fact that you don't know what system to buy means you are going to buy what is trending, especially if you are going to spend $500 (US).  Again the numbers Microsoft gives are lies for investors.  They have only sold around 4.2 million units but have shipped 5 million.  Mean while Sony has sold over 7million and has been out of stock since April. (In-stock now)  If this trend continues Sony will have double the amount of Xboxones sold.

Big retail stores like Best Buy and Walmart are not making any extra orders of Xboxones because they have so many in their stock room. (I work for retail)  For six steady months PS4 orders where coming in regularly.

The last time a Xboxone was ordered for these strores was the TiTanfall bundle.  But did you know all those big retailers at first refused to make a big order.(because they had to much Xboxones in stock)  It was Microsoft who gave them an attachment deal.  That deal came with a catch,  which was a time frame on the sale of the bundle.  Meaning if you did not sell it by a certain date you were going to eat the cost of the game it was bundled with.  So they then delayed the 360 version to give them extra time to make the sale on the bundle.  When that did not work they had to drop the price to $449 (the bundle) to make sure it did not add to their inventory, to get these units out of the stock room.  Or inventory would have went up even though Microsoft assured them that these bundle were going to sell.

If you were doing the math and subtracted the 100 kinnect and the $60 game from the 449 bundle you have a $ 289 dollar system.  We still haven't even talked about the fact that the PS4 runs 3rd party games better than the Xboxone in terms of the new hip word standard 1080p and 60 frames per second.

I am not trying to persuade you to get a PS4 or not get an Xboxone.  Me personally I have a PS4 and plan on getting an Xboxone as soon as Gears comes out for it.  I do hope i made some good points, but always get what you like.  I would recommend you not making a decision before this years E3 2014.  Xboxones answer to "Playstation Now" and 4k resolution could be the new deciding factors.

@chaazin  The PS3 has a much larger market. The Xbox division at MS has always had a narrower view than Sony, probably largely because Sony has been around in the industry for a whole generation and a half before Microsoft entered the arena.

The PS3 only started outselling the 360 in the last couple of years as I recall. And that was despite selling to a significantly larger market. That's true of both systems. 40 vs 15 is a bit of a misleading number, but not so much that it isn't important.
Seriously, people need to recognize their ignorance of the industry. You don't need to know the details of the business, but don't act like you understand every little thing.
Yusef is an incredibly smart guy. And the new head of the Xbox brand is a very smart guy that has a lot of good ideas for the brand. Finally.
Microsoft is seeing a lot of positive movement in the upper ranks. Personally I have a lot of trust in him; and more importantly to gaming, Phil.

@papi0006  HD-DVD could have gone either way. That is just the game you play when you make new media.

Kinect hasn't technically failed in the sense that it is still there and will continue to move units. It hasn't made a loss yet, though chances are even in six years it will have.

Why are people so quick to write stuff off?

mordeaniis
mordeaniis

@papi0006  The HD-DVD vs Bluray fight was relatively close, if not heated. It took a while for the Bluray to take the lead. A company should be able to survive a failure, especially one like that. They didn't over produce a product that wasn't selling, they just didn't market the thing very well.
On top of that, the Kinect may be a failure in your eyes, but the original sold incredibly well. Scarily well, actually. I suspect the Kinect's only failure is that it's built in. Otherwise it'd probably be a successful accessory. The standalone one was popular, just not with everyone. The built in Kinect drove up the price of the Xbox One, and the audiences that don't want that saw that as poor value (fairly so).

Check your facts next time.

@whatsazerg  Considering most major AAA titles are still being published for both generations Mehdi's statement has some validity.  Ghosts, AC4, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, probably a few more...

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@whatsazerg  Oh come on. You can't fool anyone. You just wanted a REASON to choose a console and have taken the first chance you got. You probably already have a PS4 anyway.

You call yourself a gamer and let comments like this sway your decision on a console? Fool.

mordeaniis
mordeaniis

@whatsazerg  What? That's absolutely why people aren't buying Xbox Ones AND PS4s. Most gamers are happy with the PS3/360 and aren't ready to upgrade.
If Sony said this, the reaction wouldn't be half as vitriolic. So tired of people trained to bark whenever MS stories come up.
He also has a job to keep a lot of people confident and happy with his company. This statement isn't intended for gamers, so why you are taking it so personally or seriously is beyond me.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@LegendInMyMind  No offence but that is the exact reason you don't buy a console in the first year, let alone both.

They are always bug riddled and jancky, with no games.

@SEADRIVE  Your in a world of your own. Take your ps4 out of your cramped floor in your moms basement. You are crazy to say the xbox controller is better.

Qloxx

@SEADRIVE  the controller issue is a preference as in i prefer the ps4 controller as for the heat issue where exactly do you have your ps4 hope it's not in a cramped small place without proper circulation and at least microsoft learned about cooling from the 360.

@jablocanas 1 flaw in your logic, MS hasn't SOLD 5 million systems, they've SHIPPED 5 million to retailers. Sony has SOLD over 7 million.

@jablocanas  The regions argument is a valid reason, however the xbox one is already out in the markets where it is more likely to sell better

Jdzspace

@jablocanas  - not really, because in the markets where both are available Sony is outselling it by as much as a 3:1 margin.

the territories thing is just a lame cop out at best

DARREN636
DARREN636

That's a welcome , eloquent comment.

That being said however, it has become clear that the decision makers at Microsoft either do not understand their market or are incredibly belligerent.

I wouldn't want to be in a position of needing to trust any of them.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@chaazin @SEADRIVE At least Microsoft didn't use crap glue on their controller so the thumbsticks rip off.

Then again they didn't put a battery pack into the controller as standard either.

I've preferred the Xbox controller since the Original which was the size of a moon.

jablocanas
jablocanas

@MrMilkmann @jablocanas  The logic isn't flawed, even at 3-4M sold the ratio is still impressive.  Plus everyone forgets both parties are selling more than the launch of the prior consoles.

mordeaniis
mordeaniis

@Jdzspace @jablocanas  The numbers have not been that consistent. It hasn't been long enough, and we need to wait on the fallout for MS's decisions recently. Either way, more markets would still help the One sell better.
Fairly certain total sales numbers are closer to 5:7 in Sony's favor. And of course you factor in things like the extra money that MS is making on the system and the difference in terms of money brings things closer. And the Xbox one has done very well in terms of game sales. I think it actually is doing, considering the market share vs PS4, better than the PS4. But that is just something I think I remember, might be pulling that out of my ass. At least the better than Sony part, I know they have been doing fairly well.

jablocanas
jablocanas

@Jdzspace @jablocanas  I think you're wrong, but I'll see if you can prove me incorrect.  Where have you seen regional breakdowns of the data?  They haven't released that data as far as I've seen.  Only cumulative totals which means the ratio stands as a great figure.  A 3:1 ratio in the 13 markets MSFT sells in doesn't even make sense mathematically -- If MS has only sold 5M units then PS4 would have to have sold > 15M units and we know that's not the case.

jablocanas
jablocanas

@mordeaniis @---Cipher--- @jablocanas @bullsfan769  Infamous looks great and the gameplay looks fun, but the plot didn't really inspire me.  That was one of the factors in me choosing an XB1.  Ironically I admit I think Sunset Overdrive looks hilarious and fun w/ the stupidest plot but I can't wait to play it.  I think it's b/c it's so cartoony/unique looking/feeling...

---Cipher---
---Cipher---

@jablocanas @bullsfan769 The issue with that is that MS had a huge game then and Sony didn't, yet they still sold more. Titanfall is the only "system seller" either console has right now, and it still wasn't enough to push them above Sony.
