Following the announcement that Microsoft will be laying off 18,000 employees, the company announced it will be ending its original programming initiative.

Less TV and Kinect focus can only be a good thing in the long run. The center of a family's living room will never be an Xbox, what a silly focus the old execs had. Trim the fat, trim the fat.

This is what happens when you put numbers people in charge instead of people with vision. Classic mistake large corporations make, the balance sheets will reflect profits for two to three cycles because of these cuts. The long run will be the overall failure of the brand.

@rickphoenixxx I can agree about the original programming, but it technically would be very easy to make an XBox that replaces your cable box.  All it would need is a few more cards, an M-Card slot and a two-way tuner card.  Thats pretty much all a TiVo is except it doesnt have a two way tuner.

@Janpieterzun I agree with the spreadsheet cruncher thing, but this was a good move.  XBox needs to stick to making games, not tv programming.  That market is already oversaturated. UNless they are actually making a tv show about gaming like X-Play,  the rest was a waste of time.
