GS News Top 5 - The Last of Us Movie + Batman: Arkham Knight Details!
SCEA CEO Jack Tretton leaves Sony, Batman: Arkham Knight is revealed, the Xbox One might get external storage, and Metal Gear Solid developer Kojima says kids prefer mobile games to AAA.
AAA are in peril only if developers ignore their veteran gaming audience and start catering to these younger casual gamers. In that case, veterans lose out in getting gaming experience that lack muster, and developers forsake veteran desires in the game for the whims of a new market.
Sad new about Batman, as I loved Rocksteady's take on the franchise. I'm a bit pessimistic as they claimed the world was 5x bigger than Arkham City, but chances are, it's not 5x bigger if the majority of that are streets for the Batmobile and are not actually filled with content such as NPCs, live events and missions. Guess we'll see. I'd love to see Rocksteady's take on the Spiderman series; I bet they could make a proper and true version where you felt like you were swinging from building to building, and I love their Freeflow Combat System.
Kojima is an idiot. Every week for the last month he been making idiotic comments. Every gamer I know hates mobile games and most of the kids I know don't bother with mobile. My wife plays mobile games. That's the demographic. Please no more japanesen nonsense Kojima.
Hi Jess! Hi everyone! ;D
Kids nowadays really loves touchscreen mobile gaming, simply because it is easier to play with their little hands. AAA consoles and PCs are usually played by the Big Ones. ;D
Obviously, the rules of Microsoft is made to be broken. Tsk tsk tsk. As usual. Grow up, MS.
Batman Arkham Knight? How about Batman Arkham Dark Knight, then its sequel, Batman Arkham Dark Knight Rises? Movie-themed Batman, ei? Looks very interesting ;DDDD
Nice news today, Jess! Hopefully, news diversity will like this in the future. At least no console-targeted news only. Keep up the good work ;DDDD
I prefered the Batman and Harlequin (character) styles in the first two Batman games on the 360/PS3...
(the new ones can't nail the styles anymore or are using worst comic/cartoon sources..., while the first two Batman character styles were perfect for CGI Batman & Co. characters...)
Jennifer Lawrence or Imogen Poots = Ellie
Jon Bernthal or Joaquin Phoenix = Joel
(if not Ellie and Joel, then use them as a new duo....)
Why does the stupid video auto-play feature automatically send you to an older video? I can understand it going forwards, but it doesn't make sense to go backwards.
"Kids liking mobile games more than AAA games."
I believe it. They can take that mobile game to school, play with friends, play at recess time, play in class, study hall and when serving detention, play at friends house, and play games when they're pretending to do homework.
External storage was much needed for the Xbox One.
I hope Sony, SCEA, and the Playstation the best.
I hope you had an outstanding birthday week Jess. You're a joy to the world. Love the new shirt. You're a little blonde too.
"Who would play the characters in the Last of Us?"
Maybe Chloe Grace Moretz, but I think she is a little bit too old and tall now. She did an outstanding job in the movie 'Let Me In' a few years ago. One of my favorite love story/horror story movies. But it really was more of character type movie than a horror movie. Chloe's character is great girlfriend and vampire too.
Maybe Becky and/or Millie Rosso, but they've only starred in one movie five years ago in Legally Blondes--too old now.
Maybe Kane Hodder for the male lead. Friday the 13th fans are familiar with his work.
I generally don't think that movie video games are a good idea for the simple fact that they don't give you as much time with the characters and they certainly don't give you any interaction with them. I don't fault the writers here, but I don't hold out hope for the director and producer. Let this thing lie, please.
I think that people who play a lot of mobile games have never really given AAA games a try. Sure, they're good time wasters while on a bus or train, but mobile games are too simplistic and can't provide the same amazing experiences as console and PC games.
When the video ended I was automatically redirected to another episode of GS News. Is anyone else having this problem?
I wish everybody a great weekend :)
@ninboxstation IKR,the Harley Quinn in Arkham Knight looks more like an anime cosplayer.
Jennifer Lawrence is about 22 or 23 years old.
Ellie is about 13 in The Last of Us.
if Matthew McConaughey can build a bit more muscle again... (he'd surely play intens..)
after seeing the last The Wolverine and Hugh Jackman with a beard, I could imagine him too...
(give him a good role, and he'll act it well)
@zgray82 Surely Ellen Page would be more apt.
Happy belated International Women's Day (March 8).
"Women who think they are equal to men have NO ambition."
Why did God create women?
After taking one look at Adam, God knew he would need all the help he could get."
(Yes, I'm male, but I'm not a bonehead. I can tell and hear men's jokes and have a good time.)
@amdreallyfast I agree, but I think you can probably make an exception for the Last of Us.
I don't think you need too much character development for a zombie movie.
Just throw in an attractive and smart woman people will love, a couple of guys and a bunch of zombies.
@amdreallyfast Remember that movies are aimed at a much larger audience, not just gamers, even when it's based on a game. For TLoU, most people that see it won't even know it's based on a game since it's not a household name so to speak. For them, there will be no comparison, so they'll be fine with it :).
I get your point though. Just saying why the people behind this movies probably don't care :).
@Zombie97 A lot of the people that play mobile are just not interested in other gaming anyway. Mobile has become the platform where "everyone" games. There are a lot of people that play games on their phone but would never even try playing a more "serious" console or PC game, nor do they own or would ever purchase those devices.
The going to the next video thing is a new feature for the entire site. Well I can't say for certain the entire site, but it happens to me on every video for the last few days.
@Zombie97 I hear you on the AAA bit (assuming that we are talking AAA for quality and not simply budget). I imagine the next generation of kids will be very impressed when they are shown how to sit down (!) on a comfortable couch and play video games on a system dedicated for games (!). "We call this a 'console'." "Wow!"
I am keeping my 360 and PS3 and a few very very good games around for just this reason.
@Zombie97 Yeah, it seemed to start with the last episode. Not particularly liking - not sure if its GS or something with the YouTube vids though.
@dani_i89 Who's Dominic Mattrick then?
@Liperi Last! ;D
lol..., she really looks like any teen wearing a (cosplayer) costum, ...instead of a crazy and hot b1tch..
and Batsy looks like some cheap mix of clishé (characterless) catalogue models, instead of what he normally should look like..
really prefered first two Batman game styles.. , and this one the least..
(a pitty, they didn't use better scources or stick to the "originals" or closer to the originals..since it's going nextgen and will look technically very good, )
Ellen Page is an Ellie look alike,... as if they used her looks for the game, she's be the natural first choice..
but somehow, I don't want Page...
if the movie plays after the game, it could work..., if they film the story of the game they'll feel to old..
(but very likely, they wont even us Ellie & Joel...)
