Oh hell yeah -
And we'll surely hear of broken x-ones also in the next days. So what??? It happens with all hardware: there's always a possibility of some units malfunctioning. Both X1 and PS4 will get improvements over time: the important thing is that both MS and Sony respond properly with the consoles' warranty. Now, all that really matters is the GAMES. It's a shame neither one got that many launch games, instead they're coming next year. I say wait a few months, expect some crazy cool games (second son, order 1886, titan fall), then make a decision, go for whatever console suits your gaming needs and PLAY LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!!!
I hold out for two reasons: 1. Game Variety 2. Launch Day Issues
I also work in distribution and transportation of goods and you will NEVER have a 100% rate of delivery without some issues. There will always be some amount of damages, remember people and trucks and planes are involved in getting a system to you. Not everything is a smooth ride. As long as the Blue Light issue is small no one will care. The Blue Light name came from the Red Ring of Death since XBOX had many issues. With all the social media we have today even one issue will be blown out of proportion. XBOX may also experience some damages that get blown out of proportion as well. Only time will tell.
I'm holding out for the PS4 until next year at the soonest. I'd prefer a Wii U until more games on my radar start coming out for the PS4 next year.
they said "flashing blue light" but when they showed the warning it looked like a flashing red line.
ps3 has so much life in it. its better to wait for year at least to buy ps4 i myself am enjoy ps3 and wiiU... really excited for ps4 but need to wait for second batch of consoles with improvements, in the mean time there are so many games in queue on ps3 that i have to attend to sire :) ...
waiting 2 years before buying next gen, everyone should have expected console bugs at launch, it happened to all consoles before. and last... fallout 4 was never out of the picture, it was only a matter of time.
lets think correct. this over heating will stand with PS4 like a baby's face MOLE! because consoles don't have that size potential for basic changes. remember how long Xbox360 had 3ring of death?
ARe videos 60 fps or am I just seeing everything so smooth it looks almost unrealistic. Not complaining I kind of like it anyways.
next gen consoles? Meh. Maybe after a price drop and only if enough exclusives make it worthwhile. Sticking to the good old PC for foreseeable future. Wait wait wait...Did someone say FALLOUT 4?!?! HELLS YA SHUT UP AND TAKE MY BOTTLECAPS!
I'm holding off on a new console. I wouldn't have time to really get into it right now. Going to wait until the summer when I'm not doing anything.
Perfectly content to wait about 6 months, then I'll start with the PS4. More interested in getting a new gaming computer (a Mac/PC) combo, before I jump into next-gen. Also insanely interested to see the real offerings from Steam. In my dream world...I'm surround by everything floating in a haptic suit.
Hey Jess. Always good to see you. I could not wait had to get the PS4. Always had to wait for the previous systems. This time. No waiting. Also, Still waiting for you to get your own show. :)
How much were PS1, 2 &3 sales affected by their various colors of death? Anyone who wants one will still buy it and everyone else will call it a pos because of it.
PS2 was initially released in Japan...a much smaller market than North America. It still went on to become the biggest selling console in history, at 155+ million units. And, it's my all-time fav gaming console.
No, I'm not interested in the 8th gen. The 7th gen drove me to the PC (soon to be Linux) scene. The 8th gen looks to keep me there.
Fallout 4...eagerly awaiting a Steam release.
Its totally worth it... i got one on release. After waiting at a local Walmart for 6 hours. They only had 9 consoles to sell for walk in. In every way possible, its a huge upgrade to the PS3... Just as the Xone will be to the 360... Sony saod a handful of consoles were damaged during shipping... you never know... one container full of them could have been dropped or handled incorrectly... after all, they did travel halfway around the globe to get here...
@rIVAL_sWORD84 I still have to finish dragon age lol
@rIVAL_sWORD84 I agree, I still have Bioshock DLC, Last of Us DLC and Ratchet and Clank on the PS3. So many games left I rather wait until more games come out for the new systems.
@Shinteikun Actually it only happened last gen and this gen. Never really been that many issues before that.
Hang about… the RROD affected nearly 12% of launch consoles whereas the PS4 has a current hardware failure rate of 0.4%
Statistically a lower failure rate than any console in history… Why is this such a big deal?
@hordaak It's a conspiracy!! Where's my tinfoil helmet?! hahaha
@M77M88 I sure hope not I made him burn.
@TEFUKAM I want it on PS2
@nate1222 it went on to becoming the biggest selling console because at the time DVD/CD combo for a system was amazing. that doesnt mean the game content was amazing. if you remember before the 3RROD and now the new blue light of death,sony had the notorious DISC READ ERROR that they claim was not their fault until it was proven that the DVD/CD drive was triggered to pop out of place after 6 months. and they were forced by the BBB to replace those once the word got out thanks to PSM magazine and the INTERNET. and SONY was forced to refund the millions of folks who paid them to repair the system when all it was is a simple twist to the screw to re align the drive to read discs again.
@nate1222 Have fun with that Linux game support you'll be dual booting just to say you have Linux or will be back to just windows in 6 months.
@Manatassix never heard of a mac and pc failure rate that high. PC and Mac's are pretty solid as far as build quality. The parts.. eh they usually are sub par though.
I understand the logistics I'm just waiting for actual figures before reacting to the obvious effects that social medias prevalence has caused.
So far the only figure we have is the 0.4 released by sony not a single person has replied with anything other than anecdotal evidence to show that this is a serious problem.
When they do I will change my opinion accordingly until then… this isn't a big deal.
I don't know how much you know about overheating. but, if there is one big problem with electrical components, its overheating. we all know about AMDs chips temp. the worst thing is APU include CPU and GPU in a single board and having a solid fan and heat sink system for reduce the heat make it even worst.
now, think about 4-5 years of game playing with such a device.
I know we can solve this problem but how long it gonna take?
how long you can stand with a device that its fan is working on full power and how long the fan can stand?
finally the overheating will cause disconnect the chip from board during the time.
@Manatassix The new consoles have a APU in a big box. Pretty underpowered failing shouldn't be an option.
@megakick @Manatassix @cocorodidil
Well since the iPhone and most makes of phone aim for a sub 5% failure rate and the PC, Mac failure rates for most companies are higher than that…
We are looking at one of the most reliable pieces of computer tech to be released in Decades at 0.4%
Now of course we could wait and see if that number rises instead of falling like most consumer electronics but I ask again… exactly why is this a big deal?
