Talk about backtracking haha, remember the original Xbox's DVD remote?
seems kinda familiar...

Lets force people to pay $100 for Kinect and then later sell a remote for when it doesn't work

XD

heres a novel idea why not just use the controller

Coming next: A distinct $50 controller to be used in place of Kinect.

I'm really not a fanboy but MS deserves to be mocked here.

As an all-in-one entertainment center, one would assume a traditional remote control would be included. Since it does come with a controller and kinect, it wasn't necessary but still should've been there from the beginning for people who dislike using a gamepad to control media(like me). Selling it for 25$ is just a total ripoff for the same price, you can get a universal remote control with way more buttons. It seems to me like it's a 5$ remote with a 20$ xbox logo.

I don't understand. Why dont they just launch an app or something to control xbox 1 with phones? then they sort of showcase that the kinect will help you control it or something, then you got that xbox controller thing.

I'm confuse, my dvd player has a remote like that and usually i don't have to buy that controller separately or another controller to do another thing with it.

Is xbox trying to be everything for everyone or just some capitalistic opportunities and lost identity.

What is xbox trying to be? whats the message exactly or just smokes.

Anyway pardon my English.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I watch my TV's on the interwebs which requires no such BS external remotes.

BTW, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA to you silly consoles and you're, "I want to incorporate my console with my TV, lets get another remote"

In my defense, its my first direct insult to consoles. Last consoles were N64, SNES and original big fat PS 1.

My X1 Kinect doesn't even work now. Won't even turn on. Getting a new one for free but how long is that going to last.

lol now the X1 has to have a TV remote? ummm.. I'm sure they tested the voice over kinect stuff properly before launch......................................................right?

This just makes a complete mocery of the entire theme of being able to change TV channels with your voice, but I think its safe to say the thing just doesn't fucking work. For a few select people it works just perfectly, for the vast majority of people, it doesn't..... This just proves the kinect and voice over kinect is anything more then just an expensive gimmic.

How much are they wanted to charge for a tv remote? I'm pretty sure my own phone can do that with my smart tv, why on earth would I pay Microsoft to give me theirs? bravo Microsoft.... bravo...

With regards to the X1 remote: When I read comments both here and with the article it's funny how most of the negative comments seem to be coming from the PS4 crowd.

It's an optional device whose apparent initial price will be within the range ($10-$30) that media controllers for other systems sell for in my area. So, why is this an issue?

I think the sailor V shown at 00:26 I have met in person at 2 cons lol.

So the remote gives xbox one users blue-ray Playback seems like Microsoft really want's to stick it to consumers. In other news the PS4 is launching in japan on the 22 of February now we will have to see what the numbers bring in for the Playstation on it's own turf.....

Wow! 3 months into this generation and MS comes out with a remote. WTF happened to the Kinect, the one remote to lead them all...lol. Guess they don't have faith in their own device.

I'm curious about how GaymerX got funding for their previous events.

Great Ep, Jess!

The controversy around Ellie is silly. I don't think it was making any kind of statement at all. Not sure why there's any controversy.

@Boondha  you can use the smart glass app where have you been under a Rock LOL it works fine on all tablets and phones.

@Boondha  Xbox claims to be all-in-one, but if you just buy the $500 machine and a couple games you get absolutely nothing that every other system could provide, and you pay more for it.

All the other features it touts are not actually a part of the system itself, they are all additional services with additional fees and subscription programs that need to be activated.  It's a laugh really,  only if you spend about $1500 annually can you actually benefit from many of these other "features", and they still feel the need to pitch over-priced peripherals that only work for that one system... not even their own future products.

@ffragale1  No no Microsoft is turning into the new Atari that is going to crash the gaming industry again also like Sega add on this add on that. so Microsoft has become a mixed mutt that doesn't know what it is

teller76567
teller76567

@scarred_fox  Don't for get about the original xbox that had to have the remote to play dvds.........

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@ferretshob  Well you live and learn. Today's lesson is NEVER buy a console at launch, for the exact reason you specified there.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@vackillers  I've heard many people say it works nicely, others say it doesn't work at all. Problem is you don't know how these people are doing it. If they grunt at it, I'm sure there isn't a system of the planet which could figure that shit out.

But there are more people who are happy with it than found it hard to work with. I mean 90% is on the VERY edge of annoyance. But the console has been out two months, the fact it works as well as it currently seems to is pretty good.

I mean it is the reason you'd have to be brave to buy a new console at launch, there are always dodgy issues, always things that need fixing. After its 1st birthday or even 2nd birthday are normally the best times to buy.

I agree with you @jblp24 sounds like you're the tool if you're thinking of buying more of microsofts garbage

@TimberWolf_CLT  I'm not a ps4 owner and the whole reason for the media remote is for Blue-ray playback on movie media....so they screwed xbox 1 owners in a way

@Dannystaples14 @vackillers Actually the console game out in November so its passed 3 months coming up to 4 months. And some valid points, absolutely don't know how people are actually using the commands, but it was pretty clear during the launch that even members at gamespot had serious issues with it. Its been widely recorded on several gaming sites that its just doesn't work like it should and I think releasing a remote for it shows MS no longer really trust the tech either to be honest. Of course what MS should do is add a microphone to the remote so you can still do voice commands which might work a shit ton better of a tiny distance between you and the remote as apposed to talking half way accross the room?

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@teller76567 @TimberWolf_CLT  You do know there is that little thing that comes with the console called the controller which will do most of what the remote will do that means they didn't screw anyone.

@sunyatanada76 @teller76567simple economics bro, they have competition in the U.S. and Europe with Microsoft...They needed to focus their efforts on winning those regions this time around...The Ps3 and even the Vita sells really well in Japan right now, so releasing the Ps4 early there would just be flooding their own market and taking sells away from themselves, better to hold off and build up more hype there in the meantime they go hard to win the US and Europe this time around

teller76567
teller76567

Well that's the phrase i was looking for was "Japanese centric exclusives" thank you @SaintsRowLA for helping me explain things

teller76567
teller76567

@crazywolf5150 Well you have to look at the picture like what did the xbox one have to offer when it was released....i think i'm not to sure but i think that Japan will get a copy of final fantasy for the ps4 first then the u.s,u,k and a,u.

It's odd when it comes down to it like resident evil 4 H.D and resident evil code veronica X H.D for the xbox 360 when it was released the U.S got a digital copy and Japan got the physical media disc idk about the PAL regions i know strange.

But that's how the market works one region will get one thing before another region. like i said strange.

But it's one more gimmick from Microsoft to draw every ones attention away from the ps4 and the up coming launch in Japan also to try to draw in money sales for a quarter report to try to compare and match with numbers from Sony

timothyt

@teller76567 @sunyatanada76  There's also a good possibility that Sony is so sure they'll dominate completely in Japan that they wanted to focus their efforts in contested markets like the US and Europe first (which they've obviously been very successful in winning).  They're right, too.  They'll destroy XBox in Japan.
