GS News - New Mass Effect Shaped By YOU; Star Citizen Creating Languages?
BioWare want you to have a say in the new Mass Effect, Star Citizen devs want to create new alien languages, and will huge layoffs hit Microsoft?
by Edmond Tran on
Hey guys, remember when Mass Effect 3 was a good game?
Oh yea thats right, it never was.
Lets see if Bioware's survey has any Mass 'Effect' on actually making the game that the gamers want(that answer is simple). No pun intended there and this comment is suitable for all audiences.
The survey for the new Mass Effect game seems really silly to me. It doesn't matter what you choose in the survey. All of the outcomes just cry out loud 'generic!!!'.
Bioware, just create something unique. Like Mass Effect 1 & 2. Don't even think about playing the survey-card, if your new Mass Effect becomes a total disaster.
Man, I hear them talking already: "We just delivered what the fans wanted. Now they're angry at us again. It doesn't make any sense. The fans should make up thier minds about what they want."
I guess EA puts a lot of pressure on Bioware. But if Bioware gives in, we will be served a greyish Gears-of-War-like Wanna-Be-RPG with a half-assed Multiplayer.
What I want in an RPG? I want something NEW!
Mass effect just need to create a all new balanced multiplayer that they had in ME3, it bigger, better, and the focus... the only focus.
Also, that survey didn't really seem to be well made nor will it likely have us helping them create a better mass effect.
In my opinion Mass Effect needs more interactive and bigger maps, alow control spaceships, less talk (please!), a new combat system and more agility for characters.
They want our say on the new Mass Effect?
Ok well my say:
Don't make it. Pull the plug on this deathbed patient.
I actually don't like admitting I'm an RPG fan because I loathe 99% of the RPG games out there.
I love games like DX:HR and the Mass Effect series but I very much dislike all the games involving swords, knights, horses, wizards, magic, dragons, elves, demons, moba-style games, "mana", yada yada.
The RPG classification is too generalized... SPLIT IT!
It's actually pathetic how more people talk about the person talking in the video than what she's actually talking about. You guys seriously need to grow up.
RPG and Open World are pretty synonymous to me. It is one of the reasons Mass Effect and Dragon Age both started out really well, then got tedious and then drove me to pretty much not want to play the game any more. Dragon Age Origin's unfortunately also coupled the corridor missions with D&D combat which I hate (pausing combat is not my idea of fun......or action. I never paused the game in Witcher 1 and 2 for this reason), real time combat which was terrible and I never even finished the game as a result.
If Bioware can give more open worlds with decent combat in Inquisition I will give them a go but I'll be looking hard before making a purchase.
What is that dodgy purple/pink thing that is behind Jess in the above picture? I feared for her safety!
I wouldn't put "all-round" in the same sentence as PS4! PS3 yes, but PS4? Only when they finally (if ever) get round to updating its feature set.
Personally, I think that there is little chance of us being able to shape ME4, as surely most aspects of the game are locked down right now. I think that this is more to do with assisting their marketing spin.
Favourite facet of RPG's? Being able to influential the storyline, followed closely with the greater interaction within their gaming environments-something that I'd love to see the next Bioshock game do!
We have a say in the new Mass Effect? Now that's just bullshit. Are the original minds behind Mass Effect nowhere to be found?
Hope your feeling better Jess and that you weren't assimilated by the Borg, cause I think getting assimilated would attract a lot more guys to the borg!
i went to try star citizen but when i saw that the $30 package didn't even give you acess to the beta. i was pretty clear of the developers morals. They are trying to cash in hardcore before they don't even have a finished game.
Our game is not done yet, but don't worry. You can still buy a $15,000 ship if you click here.
It took EVE years and billions of user gameplay hours to get to the point where they capitvated gamers enough to apply that kind of dedication. Hence why some dedicated eve players were willing to invest that kind of money into elite ships.
But star citizen, has some balls to charge 15k for a ship right off the bat. They must think gamers are stupid.
GOD i hope not. They should just create what THEY want to create. If you start getting the public to be a part of the creative process, youll have a sht simple, boring, yawnfest game with zero creativity. What youll get is mainstream , typical gameplay, that everyone is all use to without any risk taking.
Youll get the people that bitched about the ending in Mass effect 3 and cant handle anything thats a little different to what they are use to, creating the next Mass Effect.
the biggest problem with Mass Effect 3's ending, was it was TRYING to please everyone.

Role Playing Dialog Customization
Man: "Haven't we met before?"
Woman: "Perhaps. I'm the receptionist at the VD Clinic."
Man: "Haven't I seen you someplace before?"
Woman: "Yes! That's why I don't go there anymore."
Man: "So what do you do for a living?"
Woman: "I'm a female impersonator."
Man: "Hey baby, what's your sign?"
Woman: "DO NOT ENTER!"
Man: "How do you like your eggs in the morning?"
Man: "I want to give myself to you."
Woman: "Sorry, I don't accept cheap gifts."
A Woman's Prayer
I pray for:
Wisdom, To understand a man.
Love, To forgive him and;
Patience, for his moods.
Because if I pray for Strength, I'll just beat him to death.
Get better Jess. *Best Wishes*
Is it just me or does she sound different than she used to? Almost like shes trying too hard to sound American or something.
Bioware wants to listen to their fans?, what is this nonsense. RPG's need exploring with challenging side quests, if its good enough to play your going to want to explore its world.
I'm glad that you're back, Jess :) Once again Chris did an excellent job standing in for you!
It's hard for me to choose only one feature, but I guess my favourite is exploration, if the world is interesting and varied.
On a side note, can hanar hold and fire weapons? I know that they can't wear sweaters :(
@lfebaggins How long did it take you to think up that joke?
@lfebaggins I do. ME < ME2 < ME3
@lfebaggins *Huge sigh*
@Bread_or_Decide Bioware has been disappointing for the past couple of years but their still better than most studios out there. Would hate to see them go out of business.
@itruecolors Most of the time she's far more interesting than what she's talking about. The industry has a lot of slow news days.
Steady on there old bean. Aren't you being a little sanctimonious?! Most of the comments aimed at Jess are in good nature. Besides Jess does bring a lot to these presentations & I think that it's only right that she gets compliments.
@Dannystaples14 I absolutely loved DA:O combat because it actually required thought and skill and it seemed somewhat realistic. DA2 comic book style flurries and effects were just stupid imo. I was so disgusted seeing a mage whirl his or her staff around like some type of ninja. But to each their own, I'm glad you enjoyed the new combat system.
@Dannystaples14 The DnD combat is why DAO was great and a part of why DA2 was far worse (its level design is still the main reason ofc). If you dislike complex combat then go play Skyrim.
@daltonbay It is an alien species from Mass Effect.
@thesilverape Of course not. They left Bioware before ME2 came out.
@thesilverape Why would you want a new era in the franchise to be exactly the same as the previous three games? Of which the second was boring and everyone hated the ending of three. Time for a change if you ask me.
@dannydopamine8 15k is for every single ship not just one, the 15k package is no longer available and was intended for backers willing to put in the money, not your everyday gamer. You obviously have no idea the point behind those pledges. BTW, 5$ gets a pass and 30$ gets you a ship before the game releases. You simply do not understand at all what Star Citizen are doing.
@dannydopamine8 the reason you didn't get access to the beta is simple, you were too late all the beta and alpha slots were taken
@nyran125tk No, the problem with the ending was that it completely discarded everything you did in the series. None of your choices mattered, whether you were good or evil, whether you saved someone or not... etc. That by itself wouldn't be so bad but they actually promised your actions will have impact and then did not bother to stand by it.
@nyran125tk trying to please everyone they didn't please anyone with that ending also if you want the game to be good go tell them what you want in the next and maybe they will listen, if enough true RPG fans give input.
@trackles this is the wrong anwser you are why the games have gotten sh*ter
"I know that they can't wear sweaters ;("
It's a JUMPER, not a sweater. You Yankee Swine !! ;)
@daltonbay Men think women just want to be complimented. I agree with itruecolors. Grow up kids. Yes she's a girl...girls exist...i hope she's not the only girl you see all day.
@SaintsRowLA I was quoting Grunt from Mass Effect 3.
