I would prefer subscription model over F2P or Micro transactions, But I would like the subscription based game more at 30 dollars to buy the games and 10 dollars a month or 6 dollars up front for the game and 5 dollars a month...
15 is way too much... when wow came out it was when people had a job that paid well and it was one job had health care benefits and so on....
Now a days people don't have a job but JOBS, that pay almost less than half as they did 15 years to 10 years ago a with no to little health care coverage...
the Dollar today buy a lot less... Gas is 30 cents to 40 cents high here in Canada, food cost more, taxes cost more, there are fees for everything now... from environmental fees on anything electronic to our cars, and more...
Name something that you get from the government that does not have a fee or a tax attached to it our side income tax refund... which is your own god damn money,,,,
name something that you pay less for No a days than you did 15 years ago or even 10 years ago...
Every thing from Milk and bread and gas and cars have all gone up, Even games have gone up...
Does anyone else think Phil Harrison is a spy from Sony sent in to infiltrate MS? It's just so weird seeing him at MS and defending the Xbox. Also he gives out contradictory information a lot.
Elder Scrolls online will fail until they go free to play 6 months later. No game can charge $15 a month outside of WoW.
Was really looking forward to ESO, but if I gotta pay full price for the game and a monthly sub, then no way will I get it.
While it is out-of-character for Sony to publicly make negative comments about a rival, Microsoft are balls-ing it up so badly it's understandable for Sony to maybe get a bit carried away. I'm a Sony fanboy, but even I want Microsoft to get their acts together. It's embarrassing.
If you get Elder Scrolls Online for the PS4 or Xbone you would have to pay for Ps Plus/Xbox live on top of 15 dollars a month? Who would buy this for console? If they don't make it free to play they will lose a lot of customers.
Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeess!... No I don't have a question, I just felt like shouting that really loudly for absolutely no reason at all whatsoever.
Oh Elder Scrolls Online is giving a free month? Nice I didn't know that. No reason not to buy it now then. I didn't play Skyrim for 20h before ditching it as boring as hell. If I still want to play after a month I'll just have to plan ahead and buy a month whenever I fancy it. Same as I do with World of Warcraft now.
Always nice to have a good blast of an MMO around Christmas and since World of Warcraft looks to be on its dying stages having another choice is always nice.
Elder scrolls online subscription might let them make a better game but also mean I'll be binning my plans to buy it :(
MS and Sony are at the tough competitive stage because of the confirmed launch dates of both the consoles, and I have decided that I will be getting an Xbox One, but not too early because I am happy with the current generation of gaming, I have an Xbox 360 and some great RPGs are coming this and upcoming year.
Don Mattrick's facial expressions are hilarious! Me and my buddies actually use a phrase because of him whenever we see someone with a fake or goofy smile.
For instance, one of us will say something like, "Hey, check out that f*cker over there!" Next person, "Yeah, he's pulling a Mattrick."
i heard something in the background of the PS gamescom announcement that something was....desperate.
- I don't mind them taking stabs at each other, but Sony's comment did seem like it could have been worded a lot better. Microsoft, however, are full of shit, and I don't believe a word that comes out of their money-grubbing mouths.
- The Xbox One doesn't have a single exclusive title that interests me. Well, Killer Instinct might if they weren't trying to rip people off and beat them to death with their own wallets in the process. So I'm washing my hands of my long held hopes of getting a KI remake, and sticking with Netherealm Studios until another western developer starts making fighting games.
- I like to play games in my own time. I have other things to do and can't always get to play as often as I like. A subscription-based game, however, will force me to play as much as humanly possible in order to get as much money's worth out of the game - thus I avoid these types of business models. They swallow your life and they just aren't worth it. Especially not an Elder Scrolls MMO. There are so many things wrong with this I'd be here a while trying to explain them all. So, moving on.
- I loved Diablo 3 when it came out. But I no longer have fast internet and thus no longer have any means as to play the game - despite only ever playing singleplayer or via LAN on Diablo 2 (and wishing the same could be said for D3). I won't be able to play this game (and thus buy the expansion) until I either get high-speed internet, or Blizzard do something about it. Considering there is no high-speed internet in my area, and won't be for the forseeable future (before 2018), it's up to Blizzard.
I hate sorting my montly visa bills so i'd say i prefer free2play, were it not that i hate the free2play model and bumping into paywalls a hell of a lot more. Subscription for me, thank you !
oh how everyone hates a juggernaut like Microsoft...as they type their hatred on their windows based machines.
kinda sad really...
from what i see graphics wise there is absolutly no reason to buy a new console.enjoy you graphically enhanced cutsenes.to me thats all that looks any different.
1 : M$ Respond was a very weak respond
2 : Sony "current" Focus is indie games , 3rd party support will come strongly later ( 2014 )
3 : I prefer B2P or F2P .
Thanks Jessie :3
@lostn that would be awesome if it was $9.99/month
@IndySandbagTrik You can do buy to play like Guild Wars 2. You pay for the client, then play for free. I don't like complete free to play, because they make you either grind or pay, and if you choose to pay you'll end up paying more than you would if the game wasn't free to play.
But the GW2 model is viable, without charging you for ammo and bags and stuff.
@marcusceltic I agree, I was interested in the game but as soon as they said "sub only" they lost me as a customer. It makes no sense to make this game sub only, with F2P becoming the "norm" for mmos. The stigma that F2P games are low quality have long since passed, ever since DDO converted.
When you see time and time again that F2P games are profitable, I don't understand why they would limit their revenue. Same goes with NCsoft. Of course, NCsoft also shut down CoH despite the fact it wasn't losing money, so go figure.
@marcusceltic Elder Scrolls Online is going to be huge flop at least on consoles No one is gonna shell out 15 bucks a month on top of what they are paying for PS Plus/XBL
They might as well just make it PC exclusive.
@PupilsDilated yuck yuck yuck...sooo funny.
@lostastsea22485 Oh yea. Because i use Windows I have to looove Microsoft. Oh no, there's nothing wrong with them, they are the best in the world. I love their bussiness policies too. Becuase i use Windows i have to be blind to everything they do wrong. I played Mass Effect the other day, that means i have to love EA as well?
As gamers, what else are we supposed to use. Most PC games only support Windows.
I've already said in the past that Sony, or someone else (Valve?) should make an operating system that can actually compete with Windows. Apple and Linux sure as hell can't. Not as far as gaming is concerned anyway.
@Serial_Killa Yep, we deal with the big issues here at GS News. Like changing nail polish. Thanks for noticing.
More processing power. Meaning the games can offer more.
Also, the consoles are not only similar to each other, but also to PC's, so porting games will be easier. Remember the troubles Bethesda had with the expansions for Skyrim, trying to port from 360 to PS3?
It's not all about the graphical capabilities you know. Games should never be about the graphics anyway - it should be about the gameplay.
@rawkstar007 Since they started making it. It's been looking very promising so far. Unlike the multitude of junk F2P MMOs they seem to be trying to fix what's bad about MMOs and making it much better. Just check their latest crowd control video.
Spoiler alert: They explain how crowd control won't make your character completely unplayable but rather make you have to work harder (read: play) to continue on.
They also explain how they're not going to make bosses simply immune to CC but instead make them harder to CC through.
These are the guys who made many of the good parts of WoW before the everquest folks (generalizing) took over and dumbed it down. They've obviously watched what worked and what didn't and now they're improving upon it rather than copy-pasting like everyone else.
Not to mention that they have a lovely sense of humour induced into the game.
@tempertress And the next big issue will be hair styles. Swish that whorl of hair Jess!!!.
I will, and so will other people. And one day those dreams will become a reality, for that is how the world develops.
If we dismissed it like you, as if it will never happen, the whole world would stagnate and nothing new would be developed.
I'm sure your words were once said to people in regard to VR, and now look where we are with the Oculus Rift and that crazy treadmill thing.
@Saketume Cam + rainbow wig = win <3
Changing hairstyles is Zorine's department ;)
Although I've heard rumours that Cam was gunning for that position.
It might not offer what you're interested in, but that doesn't make it bad. Please don't associate your childish fanboyish comment with me, thanks.
