I would rather see the HL1 re-skin using an updated Source build,get finished and released, before HL3. I haven't played the series in so long I barely remember the story.
A refresher with a shiny coat of paint would be the best way to get everyone caught up and ready for the sequel. Just my two cents.
HL3 announcement is just a smokescreen to distract people from the shutdown.
Conspiracy I say. Conspiracy!
Well the mass of obsessed gamers will forgive the empty apologies from dev's, dev's know ppl will take a lot of crap and abuse so long as they get their fix.
Why hasn't Gamespot ever burned EA/BIoware's SWTOR, its so called F2P. It's so bad you will just ditch the game immediately with distaste for EA-Bioware or throw your money at the game that was built just to milk as much money as it can and give as little as possible for it.
Its the whole reason why i will never buy another Bioware game, i also wouldn't buy a EA game.. but I'm kind of being dragged into BF4(if only Destiny was out near release of the Ps4).
If gamespot actually did reviews to the core of the game, it would likely force dev's to fix/change their BS.
Kind of like how FF14 was remade, incredible low scores, likely if it was not for these review scores it probably just turn out like another SWTOR or D3(not that D3 is as bad as SWTOR F2P). Why review scores and not fan base?, because it all just sounds like complaining, thats what the community of morons would call it, people who wouldn't know a great game from a not so good of a game.
I can actually get into GTA online now. The first mission won't work, so I can't actually do much. But I can actually see my character instead of a can't connect screen. I guess R* is taking baby steps. At this rate online might be fully functional by Halloween.
the thing is R* apologizes more than any gaming company I know of ? along with their boasting of just how good the online gaming would be ! anyway , yes I am prepared to wait because of my long I followed it and since I am not a die hard online fan anyway .... I am still into SP , replaying missions and may I say am getting better as I do , I am just tired of the "we're sorry" coming from them ...
Saying gamers don't care about system spec's is what corporate executives say when they can't say what everyone's thinking. Spec's are constantly improving and at some point you have to settle on something and build the thing. They settled too low and now their baby looks dated before anyone has even bought one. What's it going to look like in 5 years? Buy a PC.
- Never played a Half-Life game before. I will wait to see if the next one offers anything I might be interested in before I get excited. In the meantime I don't really care either way. I literally don't care at all about Half-Life.
- Phil Harrison is correct, choosing which console to buy comes down to what games are available for it. Unfortunately for Microsoft, Sony have the better exclusives. Always have.
- GTAV online issues don't effect me for a couple fo reasons: I don't care about the online, and my PS3 died a few weeks ago so I can't even play the singleplayer either.
I'm probably just going to buy both consoles myself. But I was sure I was getting Xbox One, now I'm not so sure. I guess we'll see which one I end up using the most. This gen it was my 360, who knows about the next gen.
If it's PS4, I would have to get a controller with staggered analog sticks. I don't like the symmetrical, as a shooter fan I have to have the Xbox layout. I'm not sure how that would be achieved on PS4's controller with the touch screen above the sticks.
I am just going to buy both consoles, they are still not powerful as my PC with 2 Nvidia Titans in SLi , i'll let you people argue which console is better , my PC is superior than both of your consoles combined
Essentially Microsoft saying, "yes our system is less powerful, enjoy your connect camera and enjoy paying an extra 500 dollars.
I remember Nintendo using the same, it's about the games not system specs argument with the Wii in the beginning.
I love my 360 and have enjoyed gaming on it for years. Still don't like the PS4's game lineup so I think I'm just going to take a wait and see approach.
Microsoft had a guaranteed sale with me, they managed to ruin that.
I don't know why, but i have the feeling that Half-Life 3 will be a total letdown, just like Duke Nukem Forever. Hopefully, my guts are wrong.
While I'm waiting for GTA V to hit PC, I'm not too big on MMOs or anything requiring 'cloud'. I'll just take the awesome single player experience and leave it at that.
I'm not a big GTA fan, but I must say five has been really enjoyable. The online issues are disappointing but I'm not enraged. This is pretty much what I expect from 'cloud' anything. The minute the content isn't in the paying customers hands you're turning overall stability over to the network, the more complex a mechanism the more likely the failure of that mechanism. As for Xbox, they would be better off just firing all their PR guys and just go silent. I'm a long time gamer, and now an avid PC gamer (go STEAM) and yeah I DO care about gigaflops and in some ways more than just games. Why? The games of course matter, but the limitations placed on those games matter too. Because gears of war could NOT have been achieved on a SNES. Why? Because the hardware merely COULD NOT handle those types of calculations. Graphics aside the SNES couldn't have handled the physics, all the functions of the games mechanics couldn't have been handled such as the cover system. Look at GTA V. It's not bad, but it REALLY shows the limitations of the hardware. Intense stuttering, engine failures, physics screw ups, texture/object pop in, the list just goes on. So yeah gigaflops matter, because I KNOW that the better games get the more demand they'll have hardware wise. Microsofts view of gaming is very 'right now', but gaming and technology is really about the future, the 'soon to be' or even the 'some day'. So I really care. I care the Xbox One has a very slow 8 core CPU. I REALLY care it only has 8 measly gigs of RAM. I care the GPU is pretty much the same one I REPLACED in my computer last year. I care that really the Xbox One is a 360 on steroids, not an entirely new generation of technology pushing the boundaries of gaming. I'm also concerned that before these console announcements were made the industry was all about 4k gaming and the future and now were finding that a handful of the 'next gen' titles are failing to even run on native 1080p. It's like MS and Sony have abandoned next gen and are just going for improved current gen. As for Half Life 3, I'm a huge Valve fan. Have been since '98. HL3 will happen, but I heard something that really made sense. A few years ago I realized that the 'next generation' of gaming consoles was going to be a battle of exclusives instead of hardware, reason being there's little cost in getting people to follow the product software, there's big cost in actually making a true next gen console because basically you have to take a loss on the hardware as an investment on the future which MS and Sony want none of anymore. Half Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal and Team Fortress are some pretty big titles, and for something like a Steam Machine they could be a seriously powerful exclusive. Especially if Valve does what they usually do and don't just make those games awesome when they come out but also cheaper than their competition, essentially providing a equal quality or better product for a lower price. I'd expect some big news on at LEAST Half Life 3 as we get close to the Steam Machine/Steam OS launch.
@elias_possessed Wow we thought the same thing about you
@Sp0ilzbury google Black mesa :) you won't be disappointed.
@jflkdjs lemme guess, clothes!
@ScaredySquirrel I used to think the Xbox controller had the better layout for FPS games until I used a Playstation-like controller (Logitech Dual Action) on the PC without Aim-Assist. Wow, what a difference that was. I can't even use the Xbox controller on PC without dying, but I can use the PS-like controller like a G and it's much quicker! I also can use the shoulder buttons a lot better with a PS style controller because of the way the controller curves. I hope Sony creates some drivers for the PS4 to be used on the PC.
Have you seen the size of the in-game world??
@SurfaceNerd 2 titans you say? bit overkill aint it? lol. you wont need that much power for all the console games they port over in the next 20 years. Thank fuck for stuff like Star Citizen eh.
Wii software was a joke, just my opinion. Graphically, last gen, gameplay, skip back 2 or 3 generations. I see it as a really sad episode in gaming in general. Again, just my opinion.
System specifications matter, pure and simple. A computers power determines the limits of what can be done.
And in the end, they're basically saying. yes the system is less powerful but trust us the games will be alright.
For a brand that built itself on making a powerful console, it should be embarrassing to them having to use Nintendo"s PR spin from the Wii era to justify making a console that is significantly less powerful than it's closest competitor.
@ScaredySquirrel The Wii outsold the other two consoles. It even ended up with a good attach rate.
@anonymousicko I came here.
@Cristero by the time it comes out nobody will remember what the other 2 games were even about.
@Vividnightmare sorry my eyes melted before i could finish this
@Vividnightmare I need my add meds to read this
@Vividnightmare sorry man too much to read
@Vividnightmare woah. look at that wall of text. tl;dr ;)
Never said it was. My comment about the game world in no way implied that it was filled with human players. I was just pointing out how big the game world is and how much processing power it will need just for 1 player. Now imagine 16 players trying to load the same instance - especially if they are spread out across the map, and not just in one small area.
@Krauklis Going i7, TITAN or GTX 690, 16GB RAM, 4TB, Asus motherboard with Crossfire..... I can live with that, and I don't need 2 TITANs ;D
@SurfaceNerd @jimdove2 2 titans in SLI is useless, you get what 10-15% improvement over one? Heh but I guess it is still better spent money then a prebuilt PC.
@Xalaze @pyro1245 @Vividnightmare
In English it's called paragraphs. And you are right: breaking it up would make it way less daunting and people might actually read it.
