How can anyone say WD is the most succesful IP ever when it hasn't been released. I hope it flops bigtime.

With all those news before E3 I am very hyped what they hold back for E3. This has the potential to become one of the best E3s ever

Destiny cant compete sales wise with WDs, The PC market will assure that.

No matter how long Watch Dogs has been delayed, massive pre-orders are still a bad thing.  They don't even make sense.  When in the disc era has there ever been a shortage of copies?  Personally I'll stick to making them prove a game is finished before they get my money.

I wasn't into Far Cry until I checked out number 3 when I run out of games to play. It was so good, so glad there is a 4th on way.

Best new IP ever? Is this based on preorder numbers? How did they come to this conclusion?

Dear journalists, you don't use "new" and "ever" in the same sentence.

It's great to read a lot of these comments and not see people who are eager for Watch Dogs to come out just so they can finally say they have a reason for hating it.  It looks like a phenomenal game to me and I can't wait.  It just seems like a lot of people are actually hoping that the game fails, which I don't get.

Loving the Dreamfall Chapters shirt! Feel bad now for not having chosen that on my pledge :P

I don't usually invest in game companies, just activision/blizzard, but ubisoft might be worth a flier with those games. It's a bit overvalued but still cheap (13 bucks or so). I can't see any of those games not selling a ton unless they totally suck.

I still haven't played Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Assassin's Creed 3, Ubisoft is releasing new games way too fast :D

Great Show.  Thank you Jess.

Ubisoft Rocks! GameSpot News Rocks and Jess Rocks!

"Microsoft unbundling Kinect and giving people a choice."

People like to have some options.  People will buy more if they have a choice (a small number versus no choice and a smaller number is better than too many choices)

That's a great move.  It just basic psychology. People don't like to be dictated to and have something shoved down their throat.  People don't like having being told that "they must have it this one way whether you like it or not.

Buy giving people a choice it will remove any resentment, but I resent the fact the new X1 controller doesn't have a touch screen like the PS4 or a few more buttons.

Far Cry 4

It looks good.  You get to write your own script.

I'm happy to have an official announcement on Far Cry 4 and I'm looking forward to it as well as Watch Dogs and Destiny. I can't say Destiny will win best new IP but it is my personal choice out of these upcoming titles.

I thought Last Of Us was a pretty successful new IP.
It was new, had a compelling story line and spectacular visuals.

Record level pre orders..and they say piracy is hurting...(im not defending piracy.. how ever)..

But simply make a good game with a good idea and people buy.

My money's on Watch Dogs.

I'll take a fun single-player game with an engaging story over a lazy repetitive multiplayer game any day.

Far Cry 4, being cross-gen I'm not expecting much.  I love open world games, but I have had the same disappointments over and over with so many of them.  I'm blaming that on hardware limitations, but it might just as well be a lack of effort due to gamers being satisfied.

The disappointments I'm talking about vary depending, some that apply to urban environments might not apply so much to a game like Far Cry.  One that does apply to all however, is AI.  The AI for enemies and/or random citizens just plain sucks.  I also want to see more life going on type stuff.  Again, whether it's citizens or enemies, there should be more things going on, people going about their daily routines and such, also with some random and less frequent/repetitive things happening to, so that we can come along and see what interesting ways we can affect it all.

Watch Dogs is the only big game coming out for a while, so I expect it to sale big. FC4.... The franchise needs to change, I would like to see some snowy islands, or at least in the higher mountain regions... Can't always be a jungle and also No dude bros this time around, make a good story.

Besides Rayman which I've always loved, I haven't been a fan of Ubisoft games. However, I'm actually excited for their upcoming games and their future. I like that they release quality PC titles, and I full heartedly hope they learn to make open world games that are actually... open.

No more "exiting encounter zone will end your current mission" messages.

@themc_7 Yes, Jess said it was based on pre-orders.  You have to listen rather than get lost in her eyes.

@balto70 For all the hype that has built up around it, it had better be more than a very pretty GTA with hacking.  Drive from A to B, use hacking to ID a target, shoot them and get away won't cut it.

@Zombie97  No, not really, they haven't released Assassin's Creed 5 yet -  lots of people have been waiting, waiting, waiting. Not our problem if you haven't caught up.

@Zombie97  you should really play Far Cry 3!!!!! i was so freaking impressed with how the game played and the graphics are amazing. and Splinter Cell: Blacklist i thought was better than Double Agent and Conviction. It definitely went back to its more stealthier roots if you choose to play that way, which is the better way to play anyway.

@krishnaV_  "had a compelling story line"

That's where you're wrong... and the visuals were good not spectacular, it's not about how you liked it, it's about how the game really is.

thesilverape
thesilverape

@krishnaV_  When they say "succesful" they don't mean how great it is (sadly) they mean how much profit it generated.

thesilverape
thesilverape

@sirchick  When they say "piracy is hurting" it's not that they actually lose money, they just don't make as much profit. It could be argued though that those who pirate would not have played the games were they not free.

@ECH71  I know they think it will be the best ip based on pre-orders. But take GTA V for example, how many copies i have seen returned in my local EB after only one week. So we shall see.

But yeah im over multy player in most games. For me it ruined GTA V's signature single player fun. Hope there is another Saints Row game in the near future.

@hystavito  Its not hardware limitations. Just like many genres over the years Open World is getting stale.

@JDFS @krishnaV_  just because you didn't like it and didn't find it to have a *compelling story line" doesn't make their opinion wrong

sirchick

@thesilverape @sirchick  whilst you could not solve 100% of it,  you can claim many customers back by simply producing good games at a good price how ever. A good 60 to 70% would go back to buying games if it was fair price with refund policies and the games were as good as advertised....lets be honest most games fall far short .

The UK legally allows refunds even if you put many hours into a game, as a way to protect consumers and encourage people to buy rather than pirate, too early to say for sure if it will work though.

riotinto876
riotinto876

@thesilverape @sirchick  I agree, publishers need to realize that people who pirate games would not have bought them if they couldn't pirate them. So no, those aren't lost sales, just people playing illegally or as if they were lent the games.

@WolfgarTheQuiet Just because you didn't like GTA V doesn't mean it wasn't successful. It broke the record for the highest selling game on launch day and it got perfect and near perfect scores everywhere. GTA V was a good game and it certainly was better than saints row 4.

prodigy_69
prodigy_69

@WolfgarTheQuiet @hystavito  I'd rather play an open world fps like Far Cry, wandering about taking different paths to get to your objective than some stale corridor shooter like cod blops advanced dogs 3
