Microsoft defend their old pre-180 policies, Nintendo think Twitch streaming isn’t fun, and Diablo 3 console resolutions are confirmed!

Nice dancing at 2:15 guys. It's Easter eggs like that which show how much you truly care about your Gamespot fans :D
I forgot to mention . . .
Congratulations on your award GS News, Jess and staff.
Life is a happier place because your here Jess. Thank you.
Studies at the University of North Carolina PEP lab have confirmed what the Bible, pop-psychology, and common sense has taught for years--you don't have abundance without gratitude and it's very healthy to have gratitude.
With this comment I just add to the 5000000+ comments below but this needs to be heard. Resolution is not important but what does that say for future games when a next gen console cannot run Diablo 3 at Full HD when even my parents' laptop (obviously not a gaming laptop) runs it at full settings?
Wow, comments explosion.
Caught the news during the live streams, but came to see comments, I think this is the most comments I've seen for the daily news in a long time, maybe since the show was still new.
Game is a game irrespective of the resolution, all we can do is enjoy beating it. But I'm really happy that i got my PS4. Loved it, and btw Jess u look stunningly beautiful today.
Ton of console fanboys can not grasp the basics. These long life consoles are having trouble with resolutions and frames rates that have been around for 10 years now on last gen games.
"Surprisingly" even though diablo 3 is 2 year old last gen title, the game gets bottlenecked with its amd 8 core cpu and radeon 7770 equivalent custom gpu.
Forget about this 1080p for every xbox one games, it wont happen till next decade.
I won't surprised that next next gen wont able to play in 4k resolution but all 1080p while pc runs 4k for decade before next consoles.
More Kinects will sell now that they are unbundled? Microsoft's original policies were the right vision? This Mehdi guy has access to some pretty good hashish.
One good thing about being a not-quite-young gamer is that as the years roll on, resolution becomes less and less meaningful. Age brings a nice fuzzy equality to all games.
"Let's get the resolution news stuff off of the way early". Why not not having them at all? This is not directed at Jess (even though she's the one who's always reporting this kind of bullshit) but at GS as a whole: Why keep hammering this "resolution stuff" if IT IS NOT IMPORTANT?! It only feeds flamewars among fanboys. You guys sure do like that, don't you?
What a load of crap.
Extra resolution is NOT important. What is much more important is the alarming trend of videogames becoming interactive movies (aimed at casual players). Resolution is the phantom menace.
How exactly is a game not being 1080p or 60FPS on these new consoles news by now? Enough with this crap, this isn't TECHspot. Leave all the spec wars for the PC power users, Consoles are for exclusives and fun. MS defending their old policies gets a hearty chuckle though, what rose colored glasses they must have when looking back at 2013.
obviously framerate matters more but i think I'm just going to protest lazy developers from now on and not get their game if they can't optimize correctly
See this is why I've been pouncing whenever someone claims MS is listening to consumers now. They still want DRM, and they still believe the only obstacle is convincing us that not owning what we buy is good for us.
More Kinects will sell by NOT forcing them on every XB1 buyer? There's no way someone who would say that should keep their job. The denial and delusion continue.
@elaisse2 My Xbox 360 from like 8 years ago that cost $300 can run skyrim at 30fps and looks great. My PC from 5 years ago and cost $500 cant even come close. So....
@elaisse2 now if you can point me in the direction of the PC version of The Last Of Us and Uncharted, I would be greatful.
@elaisse2 Yes, but I still cannot play some of the GAMES I want PLAY on my PC. So shut it. I would love to, but no I can't.
@Foppe At what resolution do you think a fun game stops being fun?
@Foppe But what does that foreshadow pertaining to hardware? A re-release of a last generation game not running optimally on next gen? Yikes.
@Foppe i agree
@IndremaLover Problem with sub-par resolutions is that I have been PC gamer long time now and every time I see 720p rendered game on 1080p dispaly I feel that it would look so much better on my PC where's every game is exact native resolution of my display device meaning it's always as sharp as it can get on my screen.
@IndremaLover well said
@edhc44 it's funny that the new consoles are struggling with resolution and framerate issues but the fact that this game was out before these consoles was released and the xbox one still can't get 1080p is sad i bought both machines and it's disappointing that there is such a difference they should both be equal in my opinion theres still plenty of time i have high hopes for the future
@edhc44 I think it's pretty important and newsworthy.
@edhc44 it's click bait for the fanbots
@MontyPython4-r define "Extra".
@MontyPython4-r What is important is that the so called next/new gen of consoles cannot handle HD gaming. So, they are not so next gen after all.
@UNCStriker88 I don't think it's fair criticism to say that every single developer making games for both consoles are lazy. one system is just more powerful than the other.
@youre_a_sheep You sound like you're the one in denial...
@windscar26 For once I'd like to see a comment section not mention anything physical about the girl.
the ps 4 can. Its just the xboned that is in trouble. Diablo 3 is a computationally intense game , not a graphically intense game. The pc out muscles the consoles in cpu terms. Graphically however the ps4 at least can hold its own against at least the average pc (when compared at 1080p) especially when you consider that ps 4 has a far more modern platform with its unified memory and mantle type platform that supercharges their tech to eek out at least 40% more performance than if those same parts were in a pc(in other words you cant judge the gpu/cpu in terms of what it can do in a pc). The ps 4 may have last gen hardware but its software is most definitely next gen.
What most tech neophytes forget is that hardware is only 50% of the performance the other is the platform and software, ie how its coded. A static system like console will get better over time as though it has had its gpu replaced by better coding and more experienced game programmers, the PC however is a non static system and so progress almost primarily through hardware rather than better coding over time. yes they bring out new drivers very often but most time those drivers are simply rehashed old ones allowing the use of new cards and then ironing out the bugs as the platform ie directx is hardcoded and doesn't allow much wiggle room.
Game programmers have alot more flexibility and freedom when working on the new consoles. With the improved freedom also comes a harsh learning curve, so you can't judge todays game too harshly as the developers are still learning what they can do.
@Dannystaples14 @asmoddeuss @MontyPython4-r I play on both and I have to admit I wish consoles could do 1080p cross the board, even the last gen. After all I'm a gamer so games is what I play, but still I wouldn't complain them to be 1080p in 2014. 4k is knocking on the door already. Yes tech advances too fast.
