GS News - CT senator talks role of violent games in shooting
Chris Murphy says exposure to violent games can put those with mental illnesses or predilection to violence "over the edge"; supports Obama's plan for more research into violent games.

Oh hey while ur at it take away rock and rap bcus that's brainwashing too!
If we explore the link between violent video games and violence in real life, we should also explore the phenomenon of stigma that reduces the likelihood that a person will be able to get treatment.
While I support generalized research into the correlation of violent video games to mental illness, I will always doubt the intentions of politicians since they have proven to bend to special interests who taint the research with their corporate bias.
I love how video games are singled out. What about violent movies? I would think a movie showing a person blowing someone else head would be more impacting then a virtual person being killed.. Want an example search the 2010 movie Rampage. It is pretty much a terrorist guide... But whatever there is too much money in the video game industry so nothing will happen. Just venting I suppose.
this has me all boiled up at Obama because games shouldn't be banned because we all have rights to speak or did you and your wife take that right to free speak away from us like you do with our taxes by giving them to potheads so they can fry their brains thus having us who has a honest living and earning to pay for them... isn't that about right, guys... i dont like to speak forpeople because i respect people but i think i say it for all honest hard working people when i say... we shouldn't have to pay towards them just because they slashed their brains with drugs..
Forgive me, but if (and I believe it) games can put someone with mental issues over the edge, isn't is important to treat them? Instead of possibly banning games to keep them lingering on that edge?
I guess one of the reasons focus lie on videogames is because you assume the role of the character you are playing, in watching a film all though equally violent or disturbing, you assume the role of a spectator instead of executing the violence through a character. Games give the player a creative and direct impact on the violence which films do not present.
@videogamer008I am someone that was extremely happy to here that in Florida you now have to get drug tested before you can receive welfare..But saying potheads "fry their brains" and "slashed their brains" just makes you sound so ignorant....The year is 2013 man do some research for yourself and stop spreading lies....
forgive the hell out of me... and F.Y.I. call me ignorant again and you will be respected the same way as you did to me... forgive me... i am sorry... i did it with TONS of respect but still i get my a** chewed out.... i still will respect you even though you treated me with disrespect. i know what "ignorant" means... so what you are saying is that i lack the knowledge of that... like i said before i will RESPECT you eveen though you said that i know nothing...
