GS News - Broken Xbox One problems resolved by physical violence + free games!
A number of Xbox Ones have been breaking, but one YouTube user has a quick fix which involves violence. Microsoft are giving away free games to ease your broken console trauma and we get a look at another Steam Machine prototype!
At least it gets fixed. When you get the blue light thing on the PS4, you need to wait for a coffin box to arrive from Sony and then weeks to get a replacement.
While it is nice that Microsoft is offering a free game to those with a faulty disk drive, the same benefit is not provided to those whose xbox has a power related error. If your xbox one will not turn on at all, you have to fill out a "troubleshooting" survey on the support page and request a replacement accessory. You can call but the support person will have you walk through the troubleshooting steps on the support webpage and then tell you to request a replacement accessory on the support page. Unlike with the disk drive issue, you have to send in the broken part and wait for their review before they will send you a new power supply and you have to pay the postage to send in the part. If you speak with the support personnel about the free game, you are told that is only for those with a broken disk drive so they can play while waiting for their new unit to arrive. If you ask about getting reimbursed for shipment, you will be told that the hardware support team available by phone doesn't have the authority to do a reimbursement. They will however create another service request that goes to a different department with whom you can speak when they call you "probably in about 48 hours." So I guess the conclusion is... if your xbox functions except for the disk drive, Microsoft will do all they can to not inconvenience you. If you xbox doesn't work at all, Microsoft will do all they can to inconvenience you.
Awesome free game here I come, I'll take Forza 5 please as soon as my replacement Xbox one arrives!!!! THANKS MICROSOFT YOU ROCK!!!!
So this is how Microsoft plans to have the Gears of War series live on. By having players literally at war with the gears inside there system.
Steam Box? More like Steaming Pile!
Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm actually keen to see how well it turns out.
Really? The Xbox One can be fixed by smacking it? Really??? hahahahahaha I'm sorry, but this is hilarious.
This is why its dumb to rush out and buy any console at launch....The people who have messed up Xbones deserve it they went to buy an Xbone thinking theyre getting an upgraded 360...which is partially true..it is an upgraded 360 with spysensor/scanner in the kinect.
I much prefer the physical solution. Why didn't I think of that? A free game is not good enough compensation. Buut I can't complain, mine was free in the first place from goo.gl/ouQ8F2
I don't believe an R9 270 will be able to maintain 60fps at 1080p without compromising graphic quality. The games wont be able to be run in Ultra or the Highest video settings and maintain 60 fps with that chip. Some certainly can but BF4 and other recent releases wont at max settings on a 270.
0:38 These issues are common during most console launches. I remember the Playstation (now PSOne) needing you to flip it upside down due to some issue with the CD lid. This is why I think early adopters should be paid as final line beta testers.
I'm wondering if turning your PS4 upside down and whacking it will fix the blue light of death problem.?
The fact that there is supposedly a case of fixing a piece of tech by hitting it put a smile on my face :). Morning made.
Totally cruel.. xone has to be smacked to work correctly .. then shame on microsoft to introduce that thing on 499 dollars.. it means that it is a piece of crap and has to be dumped in garbage.. well such failure for the ms....yet they say xone the next gen console
that steam box is not pretty - it looks like something from Bed Bath and Beyond that plays "soothing jazz"
I doubt steam machine will be able to run all steam titles 1080p*60fps, i dounbt they will run at all. When I look at my steam library, there are so few linux compatible games
I already hate SteamOS since it's based on Ubuntu. Debian-based distros stink.
If it was red hat based, I'd consider it.
wondering if MS will add this to the troubleshooting documentation for the console...
"Whack your XBone to reduce grinding upon insertion..."
Not buying the whole whacking your xbox1 will fix it... its probably just a short term fix and MS should fix it... i mean, come on... how many tests have they done to make sure the things work and theres still some silly problem like this popping up??
If I got an XB1, and it came with that loose gear, I'd probably go Fonzie on it before sending back to Microsoft too.
man I hope this isn't serious.... after the RROD crap you would think they would double check
@WhiteTulip1 Yeah. i don't care for the look of it. Looks like a box for female items. lol!!
@Harbinger_CR Lucky PS Plus owners, they get 4 free games a month, And its still cheaper than an Xbox
@mr_nee True to the Linux games. But if Steam the biggest PC game provider available can't make games start pushing onto Linux then there is nothing that will.
But as for the 1080p and 60fps, there is speculation, not sure if they are rumours or not but it could be being bundled with i3, i5 or i7 and a variety of RAM and a Titan or like I think it was a 660 and then some other lower GPUs.
I'm pretty sure a 660 coupled to an i7 can play most games at max settings, 1080p and 60 fps give or take.
Hell my laptop with a 640M and an i7 can play most things at ultra at 720p.
If you really did need a Titan to play games at max then PC gaming really wouldn't be worth it.
@ECH71 If you have read the articles and I can see from your comment you have not. Valve said it's not baed on ubuntu or any other linux distro. It was designed from the ground up as a custom linux distro for their os.
And we have a winner for the most specifically nerdy gripe on the comments section.
(i mean that nicely)
@Maverick6585 Eyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy *thumbs up*
@x2rufff4u like what?
@Diegoctba Do it while Kinect is not watching
@uglypinkmoose It is a tiny percentage.
No worse than the blue light stuff on PS4.
But in this day of Youtube and excess, everyone on the planet being as connected as we are, there tend to be a tonne of videos showing broken consoles and not that many showing fully functioning ones. Probably because the author is busy playing it if it is working.
That and the idiots of the internet with nothing better to do are still trolling the reviews for both sides making it look a lot worse than it really is.
@khaos107 Haha! nice one :)
@khaos107 hahahaha Good one!
@Dannystaples14 I wouldn't let this effect my decision to get one.... especially since the compensation isn't half bad if it does happen
