GS News - Battlefield: Hardline Video, Wolfenstein Piracy, and Bomb Scares!
Wolfenstein: The New Order has been pirated A LOT, an internal Battlefield: Hardline video leaks, and how did Watch Dogs cause a bomb scare?!
hahahaha looks like Jess was mad or something on this ep. I had never listened her curse so many times in just two minutes hahaha.
I think single player FPS games are probably the most likely to be pirated. It's hard to feel like a 5-8 hour campaign against A.I. is worth your $59.99. Not a justification, but plenty of other games include a lot more value.
The video now shows on the left side of the screen and another doesn't automatically start after. I'm so disoriented right now. The bank robbery game looked really fun until I saw it's a FPS.
GS needs to mix up the news hosting a little bit. Lets see a guy and a girl no? They could converse and discuss things. Most news networks do this. It would be a little less objectifying haha. This is coming from a dude by the way. Shes a cute girl but like... I can't help but feel like you guys are playing the boobs card for web traffic...
I think instead of DRM, developers should add their own version of the game to Torrent sites that is designed to overclock someone's CPU to about five times the voltage capacity it was designed for.
Lets see how many game get pirated then when you don't know whether the copy is going to destroy your CPU or not.
A game with lots of robbing and police and a person named Mendoza, if you play Payday 2 you will think at least a little bit inspired by that game.
Jess, so we're going "panda"-free these days are we? :)
I'd hate to be the head of the PR firm and have to deal with "the" phone call I'm sure that they received.
Pirating is obviously not that big of a deal considering the game was the best selling game and is still amongst one of the top selling games. They should have just added a co-op or multiplayer to it because it would have been awesome since it has similar mechanic play style to black ops 2. The only reason people even buy games like BF4 and COD is because they have to if they want to play mulitplayer, well at least play multiplayer easily. They should just consider pirating a form of demoing and a way for people who normally wouldn't be able to buy it to be able to play and tell all their rich friends so they can buy it. Sounds like a sound marketing scheme to me since whats the difference if they wouldn't buy it to begin with.
That's what you get when you make a single player game.
Get rid of single player games and just make them multiplayer & open world
Nobody who matters plays single player games anyways. Only loners with no social life play single player games and we all know were not going to miss them, (until they go bat **** crazy and stab a bunch of people) so why make them anymore?
I'm done with gaming websites, I keep getting disgusted by the behavior of gamers. Of all games you pirate a game that's actually worth buying? A game that pays a perfect homage to the original? Those devs worked hard and gave us what we wanted in a Wolfenstein game and you have no problem spitting in their faces, burn in hell.
Self entitled brats..
I was really impressed by the leaked Battlefield video. I'm glad that they're trying to do something new and exciting with the next Battlefield game, not make another modern military shooter. It reminded me a bit of Payday, GTA V and Counter-Strike like DarkLord said.
@grin89 What? like that is in any way important. Such a weird thing to wish for.
@Wicked869 And gorgeous
@rybanoyd Discussing would be cool, but I guess that's handled on other shows. This is a straight up news show, not really editorial.
@rybanoyd You basically just said she shouldn't host alone because she's female and somehow that's inherently exploitative. You and Tom McShea would get along famously.
@Dannystaples14 or... they just need to stop releasing games on the shity pc lol
@Dannystaples14 Don't you suppose that's a bit harsh? I don't know how pirating a game is going to solve the issue of a large file size, but some people pirate games because they are either too poor, do not have official access to it in their country, or cannot afford it immediately. Some people pirate games before actually purchasing them, too. For example, I pirated Half-life 2 like 5-10 years ago before buying it.
@Dannystaples14 Been thinking the same thing
@punisher70 Well that would involve installing Origin. I'd rather lose a hand personally.
The first thing that came to my mind is the cop vs racers theme from the Need For Speed series--EA transformed to the police vs. bad guy on foot.
True, the Payday and Payday 2 games are would be a good inspiration too.
It would be great if you can play both sides if you wanted buy it doesn't seem that way.
@yerpyoz My mind immediately went to McBain from The Simpsons. MENDOZA!!!!
@cyberwookie72 She's pretty great
@freedomzealot You have just been flagged by the NSA....just saying:)
@freedomzealot Indeed. 16 Americans died from terrorism last year. I'm more likely to die in the next minute of some random or freakish occurrence than die of terrorism this year. But if I don't post a follow up post in a minute's time, I was the recipient of bad fortune.
@homelessgamer Jess looks good in anything.
@stevhall88 Yeah but pirating is a fly in the ointment, and by ointment I mean the piles of cash the developers/publishers get from each game.
100,000 games that should have been purchased for $60 means the Wolfenstein developers lost out on $6 million. MILLION!
Piracy is the REASON we have DRM and all that crap making life worse for people. Pirates are scum and should be stamped out.
I am personally all for the developers releasing their own version of the pirated game where there is code inside it designed to destroy someone's CPU when they install it.
I bet the number of pirated games drops like a stone.
@lorider25 That's the dumbest thing I've heard.
Single player gameplay is finite. Multiplayer games can be played for years.
Who's the one glued to his PC/console longer?
@lorider25 i play single player games so i don't have to play with people like you
@k41m Don't be so quick to judge. A lot of gamers do pirate as a means of fully testing something out. Then depending on how good or bad it is, they either buy it full price, wait until it's on sale or just delete the crap and warn others about how bad it is.
@k41m I agree with what you said about piracy, but what does this have to do with gaming websites?
@Zombie97 I don't really see much "new" though. It's a cops and robbers setting, and yeah I'd actually welcome a change like that, but it just looks like a backdrop for the same old game.
Look at the way it plays and action, it might as well just be military. Guns blasting all over in every direction, heavy machine guns, mini-guns heh, explosions all over, friggin armed airplanes making attack runs on criminals :).
They really aren't doing much with this new setting, that's how it appears to me.
@Zombie97 I am a little skeptical of Visceral Games though, mostly because I have bad memories of poor control customization in Dead Space games on the PC.
@drockus It's America [and I'm American] who commits acts of terrorism in the form of Drone Strikes on both foreigners and now against its own citizens. Let's see how Battlefield does the new militarized police.
@Dannystaples14 I'm not so sure about that. If 100,000 games were downloaded, I don't think even 5% of that crowd would have bought the game really.
