Amazon is certainly expanding their interests. If Twitch will not change as a result of this acquisition, I am curious if there was more reason for this decision than profit.
Whatver the reason, Twitch is a good service and I am glad it will continue operating.
I think Twitch keeping their independence is a good thing. No reason to change that figuring how well they have progressed over a relatively short period of time.
I think it's a good sign that Twitch was bought by Amazon instead of Google. Amazon is not known to be as ruthless concerning the dissection of our personal data as the information hoarder Google is.
I use twtich I just watched someone's stream 5 mins ago like 2 hours this amazon guys knows what to get
Jess is back, and the thunderstorms, pouring rain and general gloom have finally subsided. Coincidence?
Lol @ the things I read about the DDoS attack. Simply explained: A DDoS attack is just many computers sending a request to an address to overload their servers and/or parts of their network (like a router). Anyone can do this with simple scripts. A hacker on the other hand finds an exploit on a server to gain acces to (parts of) it. A DDoS attack can't get any personal information and is NO hack.
About Amazon: They better not screw up Twitch by merging it with their stupid prime video thing
Oh and welcome back Jess :)
Amazon instead of Google for Twitch? Lesser of two evils, I suppose. I don't know exactly what damage Amazon could do to Twitch but I am very aware of what Google could have done. Literally almost anyone but Google (and Facebook) buying Twitch is an improvement.
Nice hair today, Jess. Play the P.T. yet?
don't leave us again D:
then again, lucy's accent was just as refreshing. YOU TWO SHOULD MOVE IN TOGETHER! and then... and then... make gamespot shows every day! :O
Welcome back, Jess! I've been going through Aussie-accent withdrawal... :)
I'm relieved that Google didn't buy Twitch. I really didn't want to watch it be absorbed into the Google collective.
welcome back jess i hope you had a lovely holiday and loved divinity original sin as much as i did you could tell us a bit about it in the comments :)
Hi Jess! Hi Gamespotfolks! =D
At least, Twitch is in good hands...
The roster is nice. Smashing with all those characters will be cool.
Welcome back Jess, and nice gaming news today. =D
I hadn't heard about Amazon buying Twitch until this, wow, totally unexpected. Not that it doesn't make sense, it's just surprising since there was no warning, not that I am aware of anyway.
I feel like knowing the roster of a fighting game is just reaffirming. But I can understand the marketing drive behind it.
I figure the worst thing that can come from Amazon buying Twitch is we'll see a lot of Amazon ads on site. I suspect that had Google purchased it we would all have to have Google+ accounts just to watch something stream.
Deleted from Twitch's statement, "Amazon also threatened us with their army of drones. I mean totally did NOT threaten. We love the drones. They are not at all a creepy way of delivering package that could lead to the brutal shredding of your dog or small child."
@jordanjs yeah no live ads....i hope
@chiporeo Chris went back into the dungeon
@youre_a_sheep Hmm... Is Jess a Living Miracle?
@n0xinab0x you are probably a gaymer
@TimberWolf_CLT I always watch Crocodile Dundee to get me through those hard times.
@suppaphly42 IT'S GREAT YOU SHOULD PLAY IT!
@DarkLord Because that is how YouTube works, right? No, it isn't .-.
You only need an account to comment.... and, well, to upload stuff....
But now tell me.... wouldn't be good if you needed only one account for both YouTube and Twitch?
@simonmetcalf i know they're on different countries, but danny moved to the US :P
@homelessgamer your one of those dudes who thinks hes a pirate lol
@metallinatus @DarkLord You forgot that to simply 'like' a video on YouTube you also need a Google+ account. Beyond that I can see your point. Only needing one account would simplify the process but having to get an account on a social network you don't even want just to do the simplest things on a site you do want to be apart of is excessive at best.
@homelessgamer Those were my words to everyone else in chat =]
@homelessgamer I RANDOMLY PRETEND TO READ POSTS WITHOUT CHECKING FIRST IF MY CAPSLOCK ARE ON OR THAT MY LEFT HAND IS HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT KEY!
