GS News - Activision takes risks and Microsoft watching Valve
Microsoft has stated that the Xbox One is going to be a ‘10-year journey’ whilst also remarking that they’re keeping an eye on Valve’s movements with great interest. Meanwhile, Activision’s CEO has claimed that the company does indeed take big risks.
I have no problem with consoles being "ruled out entirely." Honestly, in today's day and age they are repetitive and unnecessary. Everything a console can do, a PC can do better. So, why pay for both? I have an Xbox 360 and a PS3. They both sit and collect dust because the PC is simply a far better gaming platform. I have no plans to purchase either an Xbox One or a PS4.
Activision's only big risk is releasing more of the same. You'd think releasing thirty-four games of the same series would get tiring. As for Microsoft, they've drastically changed (not in a good way). They've transformed themselves into incredibly arrogant, entitled, and exaggerated morons.
Hey Jess. Well I'm finally single, so if wanna take a ride down Rainbow Road and soak up the sun on Koopa Troopa Beach or maybe watch a scary movie at the Vanilla Ghost House just let me know. Hit me up on Facebook; names Elliott Torres work at Setina Manufacturing.
I hate digital..... I don't trust it...... I do like steam though their extremely awesome sales are cheap enough for me to be like "f--k it!"
I think Activision will take risks when their cash cow starts to get the same stink-eye n sales drops Blizzards cash cow received over the past 2 years. The real question is whats going to be 'the cool game' next. My votes on LoL just to keep the 3 letter pattern going.
Also next time try for a Canadian accent. :D
Consoles will leave once the PC is easily controlled from the couch and when developers get tired of working with constant hardware. Until then, the king laughs as its siblings struggle mightily for 2nd and 3rd place as Nintendo panders to them.
Isn't MS just adorable when they speak? Like a pretty unicorn that thinks its a video game company...
So I scanned the list quickly so give or take a few... In three generations since 2001 activision has released about 11 new ip's. EA has released around 30. This is a look at games that are not sequels, remakes or based off of a licensed property. I don't think activision takes as many risks as they think they do...
My God Jess, did you really leave a few weeks for vacation, or for an intensive presentation training, cause you performed so very well now, with interesting hand gestures and face expressions! yeehaw~ XD
I think Micro$oft should be worried about what's gonna happen with XBOX ONE within the next few months and not in 10 years.
Welcome back, Jess.
Most of people here complaining about your accent are probably girls who are jealous of you... I freaking love your voice and accent.. I might download this vid convert it to mp3 and use it as a ringing tone.
Don't think consoles are dying, more companies than ever are releasing new consoles. I do, however, think that some start-up companies are struggling, such as those Ouya guys that seem to have dropped off the radar the day they released their console. Also, Nintendo are struggling too in the console market. The only thing going for them is their handhelds.
So yeah, I don't see consoles going away any time soon - however, as explained on yesterdays GSNews update I feel PC gaming has a dire future if current trends are anything to go by.
"Yes sir, we are still watching Valve.
Right now, Subject Newell is picking his nose.
Now, he is rolling up the snot.
Oh no, he just flicked it at our hidden camera!
We've lost visual, sir,
I repeat, we've lost visual!"
10 years journeyt? Rubbish. In 2023 XB1 will... uh, a fossil? Yeah, something like that. Not even ancient.
never happen. its Valve + Linux. which if you ask anyone who works on systems or storage for a living they will all tell you they would rather work on Linux machines.
@amdreallyfast The PC is already easily controlled from the couch.
@Astynax15 Battlefield wasn't a huge thing until 2011
@xgraderx I am with you on this one. More news, less opinionated banter please
@xgraderx hard to watch, not funny or smart and just annoying? Kind of like your comment...
@xgraderx I was smiling the whole way through...
@anonymouszomby i second that
@waremon I think there's some drool coming off of your comment...you might want to get that.
But anyway, they say the same thing before that PC is dying, but it's still alive and kicking well. Surely console won't go away so soon.
@SurfaceNerd I love you
@LJNkickstarter that's probably the single most creepy comment about Jess I've seen on her news videos... Congrats!
@Scorpion1813 I completely agree. It's sad when the next-generation, to me, doesn't appeal to me as much as last-generation did. Maybe it's the steep asking price, exaggerated arrogance, questionable decisions, or increased reproduction of irritating fan-boys.
@starduke Why was I laughing out loud at this?
@Vojtass I'll be on my Xbox Two. Or maybe Three.
@x2rufff4u That's new ;D
@PyschoHunter that's simply not true lol. Battlefield has always been a big deal. Battlefield 1942 alone is iconic for an age. YOU just didn't play Battlefield until 2011 lol.
@Canadian_Benji Because you like humor that involves boogers?
@lostn @Vojtass By that time, they'll reverse the name just to confuse consumers again. I predict the Xbox 720, Xbox Infinity, or Xbox Online.
