played Grid, it's an arcader for kids. It's just skillfully drifting in corners. DiRT anyone? on real cars those tyres would have shredded completely.
No cockpit mode cause only 5% of players use it? I´m sorry i thought i was going to find some nice game like codemasters used to make not the stock market, good luck with that
Whoa...I had no idea i was in that small of a minority. Surely this percentage only applies to Codemasters games, right? I'm sure that almost all of the lobbies me and my gamin buddies played FORZA 4 in were cockpit-view only and they were always packed...
I cant even believe im about to type this, GRiD was my first xbox 360 game! I was so waiting for the sequel!
I just simply cannot play a game that even lightly touting itself as a sim if it has no cockpit view...Ridge Racer and Burnout? Sure. NFS games? All-day. But a sim-racer-a CODEMASTERS-sim racer at that?!
Damnit! Say it aint so!
I hope you can at least create "locked in" hood cam lobbies. You're at an extreme disadvantage racing hood cam when it comes to being side swiped by a-holes using follow cam.
cockpit view??? wont miss it!... I hate Cockpit view cuz you lost 50% of your view sight.... As long they keep hoods camera I dont need cockpit since my Wheel G-25 is actualy my cockpit... this is more imersive than a 50% cockpit.
Executive Producer Clive Moody on the decision with the cockpit view.
I wont be purchasing this without cockpit mode. I want at least some sort of simulator experience on a par with Forza. This smacks of arcade racer.
"Nice bonet reflections"
"Nice smoke effects"
Yeah, that's what matters. You should have trashed that game so bad guys, for your own sake too. Because of the feedback like that, the games are getting worse and worse, with nothing but eyecandy. Trash it and give it a -1 when the review comes.
And yet another game that is trying to improve immersion by adding more eyecandy instead of actual gameplay value.
So, if I have nice shaders in a racing game, that will create more immersion that cockpit view?
Thank you Crytek for your "60%" theory bullshit. Crysis 3 was basically a tech-demo, pretty soon we'll be just flying arround in Unigine and 3DMark. That's where AAA games are heading.
Only 5% of gamers use cockpit view? Yeah, those are the people that play racing games. The other 95% are people just playing WoW, and when they want a racing "simulator", they turn to Grid, Dirt and such...no wonder they don't use cockpit view. I'm sorry, but if you're into hardcore racing gaming, you don't play any other way other than cockpit view.
Is Codemasters serious with those engine sounds? And no cockpit?
Just hack Forza4, copy-paste some of the content from it, and slap on your logo. That would be a better job than this. I would actually buy that for PC.
Damn.I feel sad being part of the 5% that uses cockpit mode... This may be my first codemasters racing game ever that will get a miss ;(
Looking like and handling like GRID 1 is good enough for me, that game was awesosome at what it was there to do.... thats enjoyable racing, the AI and stupidly frustrating handling of GT4 just bored me! GRID is best enjoyed playing the darn thing, especially MP. I would still be playing it now if anybody else bothered to!!!!
Basically it is not trying to be a sim,so if you want a sim then look elswhere.
No cockpit view is for people who just don't like cars that much. (No offense) Thank you codemasters, but i'm not giving you my money on this one.
You can never really tell how good a racing game is untill you actually play it, I'll be patiently and see how it fairs.
not sure this game has anything new to offer to the driving genre. Its a shame cus i used to love driving games but they are basically all the same now.
This game looks absolutely sick. The handling looks perfect, not too much like a simulation, thank god, and not too arcady either, perfect blend. Since NFS has gone to shit this is ripe to take its place as the most popular racing series.
@1blackone there is no such thing as Sim Racer.
racing is nowhere near what it is in games.
'sim like' racing requires the poeple to drive like its a sim.
irl its much more technical and requires mental and physical skill. and thats why i like racing.
they will get close.but not spot on.never will. 'specially in a game.
the only way to get me into this is if its fun. and if its challenging. oh and if people show up again later to play.(what hurt online play)
* I must say this Codemasters make a damn fun game
ill have to see how its done to even consider trying.
i was impressed with grid when it came out. and was happy that dirt got what grid had.
... 60 fps is where its at. if they up the online maybe ill play.
if not ive had my fill. i race for real now.
right or wrong im sad its gone : ( .... damn racing wheels. 'n ur price.
as for locked camera i wanna see around the car like everyone else! Add swivel camera = its important. cockpit mode is super difficult mode. the lack of sight is why i use it.
maybe GT5 would be better if codemasters teamed up with them.idk
i could go on forever of how i want my game to be. 1 minute of me and my opinion wont change what they will do after decades of making racing games.
detailed online would be good. how do you want your racing game. im open to all criticism.
..great, im rambling
@Atrax2k8 Gameplay value? Isn't cockpit view essentially just "eyecandy" as well?
@Atrax2k8 That's why indie games are so much more amazing and better. just check out torchlight 2 and amnesia: dark descent.
@Atrax2k8 I play racing games all the time, and I rarely EVER use cockpit view, an I'm pretty a mass majority of people who played GRID plays a lot of racing games too. Also, GRID wasn't a simulation. Last time I checked, an Audi R10 TDI didn't have six gears and a top speed of 261 MPH.
@daniel1210 So if I don't play a racing game in cockpit view, I don't like cars?
@LukeWesty What's this, a comment not proclaiming that GRID 2 is going to be crap because of no cockpit view?
really hope it will be as fun as grid 1 online.
@devastator1991 *face palm*
@JokerVictor The physics look the same to me.
For my standards, it can't bee.
Even by only watching the videos I can see that this will not be better than Grid 1.
Cars are twitchy as hell, they sound terrible and there's no cockpit view. I'm sorry, if I want that kind of BS, I'll play Burnout.
Why would I pay money for this?
But in a nutshell, it's not this game that bothers me that much, it's the principal and the politics by witch these guys are driven- remove important stuf so that there would be enough room for eyecandy. That's what bothers me, and it's not only a case with Codemasters. Most of the industry is driven by that philosophy
Startup GTA 2, start a race, drive on chasing camera, and then drive on cockpit view.
If done well, cockpit view makes a huge difference in terms of feeling the car. It's also more difficult and challenging...but, isn't that the point?
Or let's put it this way, let's say you could play Max Payne in first person...wouldn't it change the whole gaming experience? Remember Rsident Evil 4, Dead Space? Yes, it was third person, but a bit off-centered, and that slight shift in point of view made a huge difference.
So, no, I wouldn't say cockpit view is eyecandy.
FFS, do I sound hostile in my posts? lol I'm really not....bitter and frustrated about gaming industry maybe...but hostile, no.
@MadCityTech @devastator1991 Here, let me smack your face palm for you stupidity. Not everyone wants a shitty simulation racer, the market is flooded with them and their unrealistic physics. smh I've driven as fast as a majority of those cars and in real life it is nowhere as difficult to drive 140+ than it is on those fake simulation racers. smh It's scary but not difficult at all.
@Atrax2k8 @Rayrota The problem with your examples are that you're talking about different genres, first-person and third-person shooters. What we're talking about are different camera views in a racing game. What is cockpit view really adding to the gameplay that a different view, like hood view, isn't? As far as I can see and feel, nothing other than aesthetics. I understand your frustration with the gaming industry, all of us who decidcate a lot of time to video games are. However, that doesn't excuse your presumptuous judgement of a game that hasn't even come out yet based on a camera view.
@MadCityTech @Rayrota @JokerVictor Nice, just wow. I find it ironic that you're questioning my intelligence when you're showing the social etiquette of a rabid chimpanzee. You responded to my simple rebuttal to SOMEONE ELSE with blind rage, ad hominems, and hyperbole. You are certainly living up to your username.
