GODUS - Reinventing God
Peter Molyneux shows that playing a god can be more fun than you would expect.
how can this game look worse than the populous i played back on my Amiga 500???The first Populous was a fantastic game and looked amazing for the time, it breathtaking and ground breaking, what the hell is this crap ????What the hell has happened to this man? has he lost his freaking mind?
I bot it early access Steam. I wonder if I can sue for carpel tunnel? Click click clicky click click. Supposed to be 40% complete, I was incredibly underwhelmed.
the pinching of land layers to make steps for the little people to climb or descend in order to reach stuff is painfuly tidious and will get players fed up in 2-3 hours.
looks like one of those games that you play for about an hour, get sick of it, don't touch it for 2 weeks, rinse and repeat..
there better be wars, smiting people, or.. i dunno. just looks like a really dumbed down version of sim city.. except you get to shift the terrain..
I sure hope in the real game the world doesn't cut off around the edges like that.
That happens when I installed a zoom mod for Command & Conquer 3, and it's seriously annoying.
Also that interface needs to die.
Lot of negative comments. If this game has low player population I will definitely enjoy at it (less trolls, griefers, BMers...) more true fans of the game.
What is it with Peter Molyneux's obsession with playing god? Populus, Powermonger, Black and White, Godus
Not the biggest fan of the art syle of this game.. but i loved the populus games so I backed this on kickstarter..
Cant wait for it now :) it will be good to play another god game :)
did this interface get inspiration from the london olympics logo or something? because it didn't look good and neither does this
Brings me back to the days of Black and White 1 & 2..... oh wait B&W looked MUCH better than this game. I'll definitely purchase this though looks like a good time killer.
I'm a huge fan of all the Populous games, i was very excited when i heard about 22Cans making Godus. Looking forward to playing it. :)
A whole lot of people here never played "Populous" apparently. This is the spiritual sequel to Populous. This will be EPIC!
WHY did he have to make this. What was wrong with the Black and White series? He could have just expanded on that franchise. That's one of the best god games out there. Unless he doesn't have the rights to it anymore... in which case, shame on him.
Looks like shit. He overhyped everything he made and failed to deliver on all counts. This game is no different. "OOH WOW LOOK, I CAN CLICK HERE AND HERE, AND LOOK I MOVED THIS AND THE SETTLER MADE A HOUSE. ISN'T THIS ASTONISHING...?"
Lmao... don't fall for this crap again. He's such a joke it's amazing any of you give this a real look.
Hmm wish I had these powers in our world, muahahaha. ^^
Well, it sounds nice and dandy. Gotta see how this works out in the long run.
You'll have to forgive my ignorance...but what exactly makes Peter Molyneux relevant?
I often see articles about him, and I believe I've seen him on the Spike E3 panels for the past two years. Outside of Fable and Black & White, I'm not terribly familiar with his work. Yet some people hold him in such reverence that it seems like I'm the odd man out for not knowing why.
@naryanrobinson What do you mean by real-game? Beta will be out soon, i'm pretty sure it's the real game. (:
@tomservo51 the ai had 20 lines of code.
Totally agree, the last Fables had been atrocious and Molineux has become infamous from having a big mouth and delivering few in the past years.
@MustSeeMelons who cares if a game is "cartoony" if it is a good game with lots of interesting ideas then who fucking cares let me guess you dislike rachet and clank games because they are "kiddy" games
@KingofCabal Is that Zeus at your avatar?
@KingofCabal you should ask yourself, what is wrong with people like me, who played all those games and enjoyed them ;)
@AggrandizedUser Errrr Populous was the first god game.. this is also a god game and also made by the same guy.
You also build up a civilization in populous thats how you got more power and defeated the other gods on the map to get to the next level. Of course the interations with the population in the game was quite limited maybe due to the tech at the time or whatever..
You will be doing a very similar thing in Godus just mroe detail involved with your population.. this game will also have magic and everything else Populous had..
So its very very much like Populous.. sure its not an exact clone but thats a good thing.
@DigiRave Minecraft look like shit.
@darkassassin911 It has fucking Space Age, right? I mean that's all I need.
@GannerStorm It's justified. The dude over-hyper the 3 Fable games and promised us things he never delivered.
@RavenXavier populus was a real time strategy title.. how is this a sequel ?
@RavenXavier Populous was one of my favorite games!
@spikepigeo That's probably it.. He doesn't have the rights anymore.. That right was gone when he left Lionhead (most likely the IP stays at Lionhead).. Too bad. I love the Black and White series too and would like to see perhaps B&W3... Slim chance tho :(
@Entropy730 actually every game hes done like this has been great.... your judging everything based on Fable.....
Ok after watching it: Listeing to Molyneux is a punishment. Or something I do as a sleep pill. Sorry, he just nauseates me with his BORED and sleepy voice.
As to the game: it sounds like an interesting concept, but watching it, it just felt incredibly boring. Not sure, but... there wasn't really much to see and do.
@Yomigaeru Basically the list of games he rattles off in the video that he's worked on before were some of the biggest games of their time...Black and White, Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Fable, Theme Park...unfortunately people like to hate against him because he dreams big, which apparently is a terrible thing...
@Textfield Half the sound files in the game seems to not work and the writing is dripping with spelling and grammar errors.
This is version 0.1. This game has a way to go.
@Yomigaeru @HapiJoel No, he may dream big but what ends up happening is that the programmers underneath him have to implement his "dreams" into reality and the games always came out broken or half-finished... after he overhyped them the year or two before their release. This happens with everything he ever makes including cancelled projects and that stupid cube thing that you could click or tap with your touch screen or PAY MONEY to remove little pieces of it.
He won an undeserved lifetime achievement award or something for his games and I remember reading the comments where everyone was bashing him. If you're as old as I am and remember each of his games, he promised the stars on all of them and delivered nothing amazing or even deep in content.
