if you can read japanese, here's the FAQ: http://form.fromsoftware.jp/darksouls/blog/
i don't know where all this garbage about this game being locked at a low resolution and inheriting ps3 frame rates came from (i heard it was forbes but who knows) but it's really just not true. from the japanese FAQ, here are the resolutions it will support:
1920×1080 32bit／16bit、 1680×1050 32bit／16bit、 1400×1050 32bit／16bit、 1600×900 32bit／16bit、 1280×1024 32bit／16bit、 1440×900 32bit／16bit、 1366×768 32bit／16bit、 1360×768 32bit／16bit、 1280×800 32bit／16bit、 1280×768 32bit／16bit、 1280×720 32bit／16bit、 1024×768 32bit／16bit、 800×600 32bit／16bit
1920×1080、 1680×945、 1600×900、 1440×810、 1280×720、 1152×648、 1024×576、 800×450
and they say the frame rate issue is fixed. i'm not a pc gamer, so i'm waiting for the ps3 dlc anyway. just thoguht i should clear the air.
Lol, i take from games only relaxation---painfull difficulty in game, no thanks i'm not the masohist :p
The lore is deep and dark, the combat is tactical and balanced, the graphics are atmospheric, the online is revolutionary. Skyrim may be great in its own regard but make no mistake this is no Skyrim fellas. Matter of fact Skyrim is comedy compared to this experience. I urge thee get it and play it. Your life will never be thesame.
it's also bringing framerate and other issues from consoles. those are game's developer's words. if you want to play this game on PC, wait until it gets several patches.
*got down to half life after 2-3 hits*
"My character is pretty beefed up. It's easier than it should be for demo purpose. This is gonna be a lot harder."
Ah, I love this game. :P
I loved playing this game on PS3, I'm tempted for PC but thought of Blight Town again...even worse when playing on a decent rig but still getting the frame rate Issues. Seems almost blasphemous.
I will have to get It at some point. I wonder If the retail version has a different art book & the soundtrack has extra tracks on It. I really like the DS music.
SL 400 and he's still getting his ass kicked, this is what i love about Dark Souls, not as easy as Dragon's Dogma, not as broken as Skyrim, just well balanced.
PC gamers will love Dark Souls. It's everything they're dreaming of: wooden movement, scratchy PC RPG style textures (*points to Two Worlds 2*), difficulty so intense that it become monotonous, and an uneventful story.
*Awaits the flood of email alerts regarding angry replies*
I've been keeping my eye on this game, but I'm not picking it up until I know what the controls are like. The developers have already said that they want PC players to play it with a gamepad and that keyboard/mouse support will be minimal.
If they have lousy keyboard/mouse controls I wont be buying it. I do not enjoy gaming with a gamepad.
i wonder how the controls on pc are gonna like?
changing of spells/equipments/etc might be more complicated than consoles....
i believe there are gonna be a lot WTF moments for them....
I've not been checking the gaming news for ages and Dark Souls PC is news to me. BTW That "oops" moment was funny. I'll maybe wait until xmas for the patch.
Since we're on the topic of PC versions of console games, can we please get a PC version of Vanquish now?
I know this game will be a Console Port but at least they were Honest about it... So I will buy it day1 anyway and I know what I'm purchasing and not feel cheated about it.
I wish Ubisoft and EA were this honest with PC gamers.
Dark Souls on PS3 was a tedious, repetitive grind. I didn't mind dying a lot to figure out the best tactics in boss fights. What made me quit the game was that after every death I had to start over at a bonfire and kill all the lesser creatures over and over again to get back to the place to start the boss fight. The lack of a player-selective save system ruined the game for me.
@belgard1299 This game isn't even close to unbeatable, once you learn the strategies it's actually not THAT hard.
You have to think. Can't teach you that.
@Eruu cant. wait.
@MooncalfReviews Uneventful story? No. Hell no. Just because you choose not to think about it, doesn't mean it's not there. Difficulty is NOT intense, by the way. You just have to think about what you're doing. Just because there is no regenerating health and no penalty on death doesn't mean that it's intense difficulty, it just means that it's a game where finishing it actually means you accomplished something.
Let me guess, you'd have preferred a movie that you can win at any time by pressing 'w'. Since that's what most games of today resemble.
@MooncalfReviews yes,now let me point you to your auto-aim, outdated engine and repetitive garbage of CoD:MW3 and Bops2. everything you fucking kids with consoles are dreaming of
@sircyrus It's basically a straight port. Which makes me sad. If they optimized it for PC and gave us a toolset, how wonderful would that be?
@ravager1989 You all realize that Xbox 360 controllers work on PCs...
im guessing left and right click for weapons maybe q+e for items so its quick and spacebar for dodge.
i dont think they will change the ui much since its a very close port.
@pcostix see you there. mines already pre-ordered and I cant wait for the launch and to see everyone in the Undead burg dying
@gray-talon somehow everything you named is what I like in this game
What @gray-talon is saying is: I sucked at this game so I quit playing it. Most bost fights are not that far from a bonfire anyways. Don't bash a game because you sucked at it. And the bonfire or if you played Demon's souls it's archstones are meant to be that way and not some save system that every other game uses.
@gray-talon People like you are the reason why Dark Souls took so long to come to PC.
@gray-talon The save system is what makes it great.
@belgard1299 Unless you are just bad at video games, then yeah it will seem unbeatable.
@MooncalfReviews Check out 'Dark Souls Lore' on youtube. There are hundreds of hours of discussion on the story of the game. Just because it's not spoonfed to you doesn't mean it's not there.
@GamerOuTLaWz Dark Souls as its predecessor Demon Souls is not hard at all. Its all about playing smart. Only retarded noobs would say this game is hard. The type of gamer who just rushes at enemies slashing away. Dark Souls has one of the most predictable enemy behaviour ever, a smart gamer just has to find their weakness
@Dezuria yes....but not everyone is gonna rush to get a Xbox 360 controller just to play the game....
@Fayt1986 yea..pretty much sensible from wad u have stated...but we just have to wait and see..
That's interesting. It shows how different perceptions and experiences can be of a game. I gave your comment a like because instead of insulting me you honestly disagreed with me.
Wow, that's a leap. I criticize a game, therefore I sucked at it.
Yeah right, I'm sure the developers delayed because they took "people like me" into account.
Well then, have fun repeating previous unnecessary gameplay over and over to re-engage the boss that killed you several times. I understand that killing all those lesser creatures between you and the boss gets you more souls, but for me it got too boring when the real challenge was getting past the boss.
indeed if your not sure just leave it a week and ask around how well it plays.
@gray-talon You do actually have a point with the repetitive area runthrough and killing the same enemies over and over again. I do note that some people like myself have found ways to just dash through a large portion of the game and avoid certain enemies. But, that takes a while to learn where you need to go and what you need to do; that's way too many runthroughs though. I understand that this game is just not your cup of tea. And that's it.
Everybody who plays dies a lot. The game was designed that way. I agree that the bonfire save points created a sustained tension because the player had a lot to lose by dying. But going over the same ground from a bonfire because all the lesser enemies respawned became too routine after several repeats. For example, if I remember correctly, I got to the point where I could easily without fail defeat the sleeping stone knights to get to the butterfly boss. But at that point, I wondered, "Do I really want to go through all this again?"
But hey, I respect your love for the game. As for the rest of your comments, I'll let you have the last word because I don't know those games.
I didn't criticize it for being difficult. That part I liked. I criticized it for having to tediously repeat relatively easy parts to get to the difficult parts.
@gray-talon Well, if your main gripe was getting tired of having to kill the normal enemies every time you die, you obviously have died a lot. It really is an invalid reason to not like a game.
Look at games like MMORPG's, you literally run the same instance over and over again to get a random loot drop. Same thing with Diablo 3. People play multiplayer games where you play the same maps over and over. It really isn't much different.
Dark Souls rewards you for being good and using your head. It's not a God of War game where you bash buttons. You have to use your head. The bonfires is how it creates its atmosphere and the fear of dieing. If you take that out of the Souls games then you lose half of its appeal. Not to mention, the game's multiplayer is one of the best PVP style games ever.
@gray-talon @StormFuror Well youi do suck at it, you're bashing the game for being bad but you should be bashing yourself to be completely shit. The game has a learning curve, once your used to it then it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe you should stick to easier games like Call of Duty or World of Warcraft.
