they seemed to used only a set number of games for this video.... shouldnt it have been every game released since last years 4th of july explosion video montage? i thought last years was better
I like how it appears to be written as Happy Independence Day From GameSpot (as in no longer under GameSpot rule or something) when they really mean Happy Independence Day, From GameSpot (what amazing power a comma has :)) Overall, great video and Happy Birthday America :D
Looking only at the comments you wouldn't know there was a movie with video game explosions at the top.
If a third world country used a similar montage for its independence day, American media would freak out.
The problem with US today is that produces too much attention whores (Justin Bieber for example) and idiotic pimps and most modern US politicians suck major balls they are corrupted to the bone
Even Obama would be better as a comedian and an actor than a President of a country...
You don't like America because you're forgetting the greatest American movie of all time... Back to the Future!
Since GS is a global organization, why they chose to celebrate America's holiday and not others? This just seems like a chance to stir up controversy in the comments section.
Anyone who sais they hate America on the internet is just fishing for attention. Especially on a video made mostly out of games that are being made in the U.S.
Also, I never see Americans complain about a holiday that isn't celebrated in the U.S.
....no different. I just have one thing to say, people are allowed to feel how they feel, I don't have a problem with that, doesn't mean we'll always agree, but that's life. The only thing making me want to bash my head into my monitor is all the stereotyping. Let's not assume (and for those who don't I'm not talking to you) that all of a people from whichever place are all the same. If there's one thing the internet has taught us it's that every obnoxious person in the world seems to have an internet connection! Internet is full of the worst examples of man- and they're in every country. I try very hard not to let myself just believe stereotypes, it's small and dismissive- not to mention quite unfair to a large number of people.
Let's all be grateful to live in nations where trolls can bicker freely over subjects they know nothing about.
Europe is a dying beast. Spain has 55 percent youth unemployment. Abandon Europe, it has no geopolitical use after the cold war. Focus on the BRIC countries. Ignore these bitter European losers.
I think America should really withdraw and impose tariffs on all foreign products. Europe is already in a depression. The East Asians don't hate us so much, we should do business with them and eff these bigoted Europeans to heal.
Withdraw from NATO, withdraw from Europe entirely.
@SultaN-s And what a great thing, everyone everywhere has the right to do so...
@Simplythebest12 beiber is canadian. agree about nobama though, I'd say worse actually about him. best not to get me started on that. not good for my bp.
Exactly what has happened too!
@CBN16 I bet you'd see a lot of US negativity in the comment section if GS started celebrating other countries national days.
@Tidal_Abyss Thanx for someone not drinking haterade today. The world would be boring if we all got along but this trollin is ridiculous.
@Tidal_Abyss good post
@Steki_knight I've often had the same thought.
@dmblum1799 You are overreacting. South European countries have problems but North European ones are doing fine....
By that logic, Canada should invade the USA to take its resources. That war would last about 30 minutes.
@dmblum1799 Bye bye, you'll never be missed :).Asians don't hate you...lol.
@Simplythebest12 @dmblum1799 yeah and Im sure you have never visited Italy, Spain or Portugal... they have problems but they will manage to get out of it, their people and cities are great and amazing, very modern and very well made and organized.... people leave their country when they really have no choice of being happy there or see absolutly no future for them or their way of life... in 2008 USA was an absolute mess, and still have some problems from it
@CBN16 @Saketume @fazio93 everyone who says who hates america is fishing for:.... spies! Snowden proved that pretty much without question... Im probably (surely) going to be recorded because of this, dumb of me wrinting Snowden, America and Hate in the same comment (im just looking to get my rights taken away), so for that matter, let me do it one more time; SNOWDEN!... but really, I dont hate america =) I enjoy pretty much my visits there, specially when i went california (wait, what?! me on american soil? get those spying things working pronto.... Snowden!)...haha in reallity, all the people in the world are cheated by their goverment, generally because the believe in them (yeah I know, settle down people! this does happens).. so fighting and feeling proud in patriotism debates for me are empty cups!, in the end lets us party and play all togueter!
I'm not. I'm trying to argue that the lack of criticism about other countries national holidays is because they're not even featured here so there's nothing to comment about.
If gamespot started celebrating other countries national holidays there would surely be complaints about it from US citizens.
If you'd read and understood the OPs sentence "Also, I never see Americans complain about a holiday that isn't celebrated in the U.S." you might understand what I'm trying to say.
Then again maybe you're incapable of understanding something as simple as that.
First of all that has nothing to do with the point I was making.
Secondly: it's an international website owned by an American company and run from a variety of countries such as the US, UK, Australia and Singapore.
@blackadder88 @dmblum1799 sadly, the American government can pretty much strong-arm and mold any other government to their liking. and every other country happily bends over and takes it. there wouldn't even need to be fighting involved. just threats and leverage
If you do the math, the US expenditure is nearly half of the WORLD TOTAL. That is insane.
Canada's population is the equivalent of California, one friggin state.
The USA spends 682 billion dollars per year on defence.
Canada spends 18.3 billion dollars per year.
These figures don't calculate the immense research investment the US has made in defense. The internet was partially created by the US military.
As for allies, the US holds the world reserve currency, the dollar. It's not in anyone's economic interest to attack the country with that currency.
You honestly believe a country of 30 odd million people with a tiny military would conquer a nation of 320 million people and the largest military industrial complex in the history of the world?
You must be drunk or 8 years old.
Also, work on your capitalization and grammar: Canadians is a count noun (don't mean to be the grammar police but just saying).
