@ Defsolidus point taken most would say epl is the best but i believe the epl is changing and the 2 leagues are very comparable in many ways. Football here people get the crap knocked outta them :p @vandeacon I didnt say fifa was sub par just pointing to the fact that to do the same task it takes more button combinations i actually play both i dont feel like im a fanboy to anything. There where good points in the demo that the reviews fails to cover

I'll put it this way, I play FIFA and my brother plays PES. Difference: He's a HUGE football fan while I'm more of a CASUAL one. I've played PES, I liked it, but I found FIFA more accessible, and I think that more than anything else, that's the reason why FIFA keeps out selling PES. FIFA has mass appeal whereas PES has the hardcore niche, which by all means isn't a bad thing... I'd buy it if I had the time to sit down and master it, lol

movement, passing and how to go over against player I think all of these and more become so bad in earlier parts of pro evolution. konami must go back to the old pro evolution design because I think konami tries to be similar to fifa which I hate...:(

@ Takashi Mike Nice try, but considering I know the main pool of people who consider themselves the most extreme Winning Eleven and PES fans fully know the best one ever made was Winning Eleven 7 which is also PES 3 - it was not PES 5 as everyone who are extreme fans of the series, go see soccergaming.com ok?, all those fans....WE ALL know that Winning Eleven reached its inarguable peak at PES /WE7 and basically buddy, thats the bottom line. Youre not going to change the opinions of the most extreme WE/PES fans, and we all know the best game of the series was WE 7/PES3 ~ if you really knew wht you were talking about, youd know even the die-hard fans of Seabass's game knew the decline happened after WE7/PES3. Youre talkoing a lot of hot air, man ~ Ever since FIFA 08, theonly people clinging on to PES are all the kiddies who heard how epic the game USED to be so they want to try to be in that club.

Sorry to all the new gamers that are now playing PES - long after the series was actually good. The series is absolutely terrible now. I played the Winning Eleven engine since Goal Storm '97, which was the first time North America saw that engine ~ So, Ive seen EVERY Winning Eleven and PES game. PES now stands for "Please End this Series", because its a pathetic joke of a football game these days. FIFA 08 blew the series out of the water. Again, youre talking to someone who has likely doubled or tripled any amount of time youve ever put into a PES or Winning Eleven game, and I straight up telling you, Seabass's game isnt CLOSE to what it used to be. Oh.....all you new PES kids in Europe dont know who Seabass is? Educate yourself. He spawned the game and the engine. Which USED TO BE a great game and series. Its pathetic these days. Simply Pathetic. The gameplay is still the crappy arcade football its been for the last few years. No thanks, Seabass - I dont think so anymore buddy.

MASTER League is still the king in management modes. but then who knows, fifa 12 might be really good this year in management, but every otehr year, master league destroyed fifa in management mode.

man you guys make such a big deal with licenses. However, it takes 5 minutes to change the name to the real one and download the logo and chuck it on the shirt, its really friggin easy.

nah PES 2011 was almost more challenging.. i played PES 2012 and its almost trying to hard to be FIFA.

TruSake

it is so much easier to dribble with PES, wish FIFA would make an improvement on that area.

@EQl33t there's no disputing that barcelona are currently the most dominate team at their level, but the EPL is by far the strongest league in terms of teams, competition and consistency. as for the fifa/pro evo debate, different people support different teams, have different favourite colours, like different foods, etc. -- computer games are no different. if you like it, play it. if you don't, it doesn't necessarily make it sub-par.

Defsolidus
Defsolidus

@EQl33t When you compare football leagues, it's not about one team, it's about how many competitive teams at a high level you've got in the league, based on that, the premier league is the best, in the 90s the Calcio was the best league cuse it had at least 5 competitive teams, la Liga (although i'm an old barça fan) has pretty much only two competitive teams in FCB and Real Madrid. Oh and when will you guys stop calling "foot"ball that weird name "soccer" :p

i've tried out pes2010 demo and found out top player mode is much harder on this than the previous episodes. basically, what i found was, the defense AI of your team is vulnerable, opponent AI team has incredible dribbling skills (every player is just like messi) and the goalkeeper is even worse he can't hold the ball tight...have u guys got these experiences?

Ive been a fan of pes for a long time, in fact i probably played pes over fifa by a margin of 1 million to 1 in game time (yes im a pes fan..) i still remenber the days when my father bought a pes game in japanese, it was realy hard to understand the menus and everything but you can got used to it..ah good times! xD However, in all seriousness im really hoping for pes 2012, it seems like a great improvement over 2011 and i'll definitively will be playing it and having a lot of fun... for fifa fans i say this, enjoy your game... and like so many on this comment section, im also tired of fanboy wars... and not just in fifa vs pes, also in COD vs BF... and every other major franchise rivalry... please just buy your game and enjoy it! Cheers to everyone!! :)

Really like the new passing. But shooting is the real s**t in this game. Great animations and the ball flies off realistically. Thx konami for letting fans contribute their thoughts in creating this fine game ;)

Im tired of these english guys talking about the license of EPL they have la liga which is the best league with the best teams remember barca dismantling rooney and crew? and ligue 1 and serie A and south american teams( copa libertadores). and if you want license for EPL you can just download KITserver and get them no big deal (MY pes has been fully licensed since i found kitserver 5 years ago). . its about gameplay. if you have xbox jsut dl both demos you will see .. Ohh yeah training games are back :) Watch a high level soccer match then play both youll see which plays more like the real thing..... ohh yeah messi is not the cover for this game like the reviewers said its ronaldo...... and the models are way ahead of fifa have been for years. as for defending in FIFA u have to remember all kinds of button combos in PES you have the same control but it way less complicated OHH yeah PES have the best tourney Champions LEague they failed to mention that. close control is way better tacking is way better people dont catch up to you when you beat them. They didnt mention that you can tell a player off the ball to make a run you dont have to leave it to the CPU jsut like they selected a player in dead balls and throw ins you can d0 it real time when you play giving you ALOT of control.PLAyer switching is fix ( my main complaint) you should at least dl the demo if your a soccer fan and try it. IF you havnt played it dont talk because there are new animations and it feels very different from pes 11

@Takashi Mike Everybody should read your post. Maybe the kids will want to keep with the franchise fanboy war, but for the grown ups, we should avaluate what game is best and buy the one we liked more. Despite all the evolutions of FIFA in the last years, I still prefer PES gameplay, man I'm from the time PES was called Winning Eleven, FIFA had no chance at that time... Maybe they should change the name back to Winning Eleven again...

Seemingly this game has a lot of haters? (presumably the die-hard FIFA fans). I say good on Konami, nice to see they're still making the effort. To be fair to them the game looks pretty decent; fluid gameplay and pretty sweet graphics. Obviously it won't be a FIFA toppler, but it still looks worth the money :)

Takashi_Miike
Takashi_Miike

@4610383no Are you being serious? Presumably you'd rather have a terrible game with official licenses over a brilliant game with unofficial licenses then? If so you're opinion is invalid. In a football game it's the FOOTBALL that is important, NOT having Ronaldo's hair realistically gelled

Takashi_Miike
Takashi_Miike

@ costan_lucian. FIFA wasn't smoother than PES a few years back. It was arcady and totally unrealistic. True football fans could see past the glitz of FIFA and see that PES had far deeper gameplay

Takashi_Miike
Takashi_Miike

PES 5 was by far the best football game ever made when it came out. It nailed the gameplay. Obviously EA got a kick up the backside and since then have made more of an effort to move into next gen. I was a huge PES fan, in fact I played PES tourneys at a high level and from PES 1 up to PES 6 it was far better than FIFA which before 09 ( i think) was an arcade game made for kiddies to play who are were just brainwashed by the official kits and licenses. FIFA has been the better game over the last few years. EA created a new engine whilst Konami are building off the ancient PES engine. I might actually not bother with either game this year as PES still hasn't moved on and EA have totally ruined defensive play and other crucial aspects. Add in pre existing problems that they still haven't sorted and I'm not impressed. Online play is terrible due to the amount of kids that buy FIFA. The AI will never present enough of a challenge to good players to make single play worthwhile, unless you are 10. I honestly can't fathom some of the changes EA have made to the game. They've made huge strides in recent years but they've just made a whopping great leap back. Oh and seriously guys. Grow up already with the fan boy garbage. Buy a game on merit, not on some deranged sense of loyalty to a company that only wants your cash. in gameplay terms FIFA always lagged behind PES. However, it has now left PES feeling dated. Now I'd say both have positives and negatives to warrant buying either

I have been playing Fifa since 98. And I've also played a lot of the games from the PES series and in my experience PES NEVER has and probably NEVER will compare to Fifa because first of all you have the gameplay. Which has always been smother, more realistic and better in Fifa then in PES. Same goes for the graphics and don;t even get me started on the licenses since Fifa has had fully licensed teams and players from the beginning whilst PES hasn't managed to this even thous they've released a lot of games so far. I mean I still can't believe that even in 2011 they don't have all the licensed teams from England and I mean come on England has one of the strongest and the best championships in the world and they only got Manchester United licensed in the game. Some people say that PES is better then Fifa because of the marketing EA does for it's franchise but that's just not true. Fifa has always sold better then PES because IT IS better. It's as simple as that. There is not a single thing that PES does better then Fifa. I've also played the demos for both games from this year and I will again buy Fifa 12 not PES for the reasons already mentioned above.

PES 4 and 5 are STILL the most realistic football video games so far and NO game currently beats those in realness. PES have always had deeper and more game content than FIFA and STILL has and that's what matters and prevent it from getting repetitive, boring and tiresome unlike FIFA. FIFA is just selling more than PES by advertising everywhere and brainwashing kids, teens and even adults.

Subacetylene
Subacetylene

PES may not have full licenses, but at least it has all the international teams. I don't understand why FIFA doesn't include a lot of the international teams. FIFA is missing quite a lot of the Asian teams. Also, I really like Fifa's new impact engine but personally hate the new defensive pressure system.

noserag

Based on the first two minutes of gameplay, I already don't want this game Hey KONAMI..are you at all aware there is other types of advertising you can display along the sidelines other than always KONAMI? Made up teams..? Get Licensed! ,put more personality into your stadium animation and graphic's ..too dry. Your gameplay is sharp and has a different feel and lifeness to it and player graphics are always sharp. Expand the club a bit.

im really sorry for fans of this franchise, i dont see any improvement in the game, its just a big scam for the people that is going to buy this game, i dont like it at all, same animations like robots, at leats fifa is doing the impact engine or something, at least different animations and reactions from the players, the ultimate team at least finally for free, and i dont see anything new from these guys, i dont think im gonna buy any of the 2 but i can see a lot more new stuff in fifa. And they said the commentary is the same with some added random comments, and the lame music, i see more bad things from the game, well one of this two is something not as important but the other helps the gameplay ,so a couple of negative points for this game.

i feel it's going to be a tough year for FIFA, as I played both of the games, PES is significantly improving, AI now are a lot tougher to beat, and the through pass system is a revolution indeed, meanwhile FIFA's new defense system suck to the death, makes me really hard to defend, although this system can be turned off tho... it's just too bad that PES is still lacking on licensed teams, but UEFA Champions and Europa League are indeed not bad...

Ithrewupfire

I like pes better, is not like fifa is bad or anything but I feel like players have a protective shield when I try to defend :s also, the sound when you hit the ball is much better in pes. I'm talking about both demos

It's like comparing Pepsi to Coke. You may like one but their both still good. EA buy exclusive rights for a lot of teams meaning you can only play with those teams on Fifa so if teams are your priority I would recommend it. PES fits my taste better because I prefer everything about it except the amounts of teams they have rights to. In the end it's a personal thing, but both are good.

Nice, im not a PES fan and hated the previous games but this might be satisfying to play. Im still gonna buy fifa 12 since i have been a fan since 2006 , but gotta admit ill try this game too :)
