GameSpot Plays Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition
Randolph Ramsay takes Grand Theft Auto III on the iOS for a quick spin to show off the control scheme and changes!
do they have cheats on this one to me this was the only one that had the best ones because of the tank
Please please please, tell me that your HORRIBLE driving skills are all because the controls sucked and not because you suck at GTA... Man, you can't seems to be able to drive on a straight line... shame on you! (Or shame on the controls, i don't know)
does the game ever just randomly turn off for anyone and bring you to the homescreen? It keeps happening to me so i have to save more often.
got this for ipod touch and its awesome. Controls took a while to get used to (20 minutes) but its awesome! First time i've ever played gta III
I really don't understand the control complaints. I've been playing it all day and I am actually impressed with just how easy it is to play this way. It's no Xbox controller, but it works FINE. Any complaint I have seen has been superflous at most. @SoYoung24 I agree they should port this to XBLA though.
The controls seems realy not that great at all, like almost every games designed for consoles ported on iPad or iPhone/android devices. I hope Rockstar will release this re edition on XBLA or PSN, it is a much better place to play this great game IMO.
All you friggin people complaining about the controls can seriously stop. I have the game and I've played for about an hour and it plays just fine. I think the accelerometer controls for vehicles need to allow for more or less sensitivity of course but driving using the touch controls on the screen is fine and running around on foot is FINE. It just took me a minute to adjust the controls to my liking (where I wanted them on screen) and then I'm off and having fun.
@TevoxZi Actually achievements are fun to do. Mods I don't do jack with. Some people don't have PS2/Xbox or the games or a PSP. Being able to play 'em again now in HD will b awesome.
i've tried this out at the NYC-con and the controls are very responsive, i was impressed. Only problem is...i've played the hell out of this a long time ago on ps2 so i didn't care much for it after playing 1 mission on the ipad version.
@boiardee14 why do you hate it? please provide examples rather than "it sux i h8 it". Is it the graphics? Is it the story? Is it the AI?
i freaking hate touch control, i play games like dead space, gangstar series on the ipad and couldn't play it for more than a few mins, not mention i got sweaty palms....
GTA is aweful! and no im not trying to be a troll, i seriously think its a horrible game. any1 who plays it is very immature.
Take it easy, peoples! R* made this game to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Not to be ambitious. That's why they charged $5 for it. R* knows most of you are just gonna get a cracked version, anyway.
Bah, I always hated touch controls for games that are not made for this. It doesn't fit at all. Unless it's free I won't get it, I already finished the game more than once anyway.
I MIGHT take this kind of stuff seriously if they made an actual controller to hook up to it. Touch controls for these games is a joke.
@shahroz47 Because it's fun to buy the same exact game you could easily mod yourself with the texture mods and for achievements you don't do jack with, right?
"we gonna try avoid this gang shooter right now, and drove our way in our ice cream truck"...yep only on GTA.
iPad isn't built for such games. I find it tough to control such games without tactile feedback of actual buttons. Still good to see it on iPad.
My second favorite GTA game of all time right here! love GTA 3! that's pretty awesome that you get it on cellphones now
play it on mobile devices, i am more interested in seeing how the controls translate to smaller devices.
R* for **** sake re-release GTA III, VC, SA, LCS and VCS on PS3 and Xbox 360 in HD with Trophies/Achivement support.
I will just stick to the ps2 version thank you. Playing the game with touch screen only seems very odd. I'm sure that I would struggle in playing the game on a ipad or phone.
GTA3's first island has become one of my most memorable levels of all time... thanks to PS2 not coming with a memory stick back then. I'm surprised how much I still remember the layout.
@TonnFool23 LOL, probably because you didn't recall hearing the song in Scarface so when you saw the movie it immediately brought the memory of the track back suddenly....either that or you weren't paying attention to the game or didn't hear all of it's radio stations!
I just downloaded it for my tablet. It is fantastic! Every GTA player should get this, it is awesome!
@TonnFool23 Most, if not the entire Scarface soundtrack is incognito as Flashback in GTA III for some reason. I think R* was trying to imply that this was the Scarface universe or they were hinting at Vice City or something.
OMG I was watching scarface last night and I can't believe GTA 3 had She's on fire by amy holland.. damn how could Ive missed that?
Actually looks pretty damn good. Probably the best way they could have done the controls for touch screen as well.
