GameSpot Breaking News - PS Vita Slim Announced
Tom and Peter breakdown the announcement of the new Playstation Vita hardware.
I would love a smaller Vita if it had the same possibilities and features of a regular Vita (so no cheaper screen for example). My hands are too tiny to comfortably grab my Vita but I love playing it regardless.
Still unsure about the vita, can't really see any games I would like for it but it linking to the ps4 sounds interesting. but its great that the price has come down and they have made is slimmer.
I guess the owners of this Vita will not able to play Killzone: Mercenary since the main menu says "Tap to start" or something like that.
All I want to know is if it will stream my PS4 games well enough to not have to move it from bedroom to the living room. If it does that, then it may be a must buy for me.
if you are buying vita tv to play games than it is not worth since vita games are fun on vita only better buy a pre owned vita that will cost you 120 -140$ Portable games are fun on portable device because no front or rear pad makes gameplay experience bad. Many games have utilized the touch pad for in game tasks little deviants, uncharted golden abyss, assassin creed liberation, killlzone mercenary. so how you will play these games no idea. . Ps vita was a portable hand held and games are designed for that purpose so playing it on tv will be boring as hell.
vita TV with no touch screen = no Gravity Rush, and no Uncharted. I think its more for smart TV, media consumption then gaming. But the standard controller is a bad input device for text, if u want to search something on netflix, ore browse the net etc. This thing needs something like smart glass so u can use u're mobile phone as a remote ore keyboard.
Sony surprise everyone again in a GOOD WAY!!!! That was a genius move! Against ouya! A console for 75 euros where you play ps one, psp and ps vita games(probably ps2 to)! What are you guys complain about lol! Its like 3 4 consoles in one cheap console! Sony i am starting to love you! Sony really care about their customers, when i mean that, i mean GAMERS!
I have to say that I did not understand the importance of Vita TV when the news came out but later in the evening it struck me that it is a FANTASTIC move by Sony - a home console under 100 price tag that plays psp, ps1 and vita games. That is a device targeting a non existing market (ouya is not really a competition here). That is so smart and I totally see myself buying one although I already own 1gen Vita. I'm actually excited! This means MORE GAMES FOR VITA!
Now to hope that I can share my save games between my Vita and Vita TV.
Can we use PS Vita as a controller for Vita TV?
Can we play digital version of PS Vita games on Vita TV?
Does PS Vita TV have any storage space?
Wouldn't it be possible to wirelessly display PS Vita games on large screen TV without Vita TV(maybe through PS3 or PS4 remote play or similar scheme)?
Smart move to drive software sell and third party support though (really a stone for two birds).
aaand the thing i dreaded most happened..Vita Slim...really? like that cereal by Nestle..hahaha,they shoulda went with Vita Lite or something..either way it looks cool.Good for Sony.
Today on AMC's Breaking News: PSV talk and even more PSV talk. Will Sony get the PSV back on track in time? Watch now!...
It's a move in the right direction from Sony. I'm hoping that with this Vita TV we'll see more developers making games for the Vita. For less than $100, what's not to like?
Am I the only one who sees the Vita TV as being closer to Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, and other media streaming devices? The huge difference is it also allows you to play a bunch of Vita, PSP, and Playstation games. The video game aspect is a bonus IMO. It doesn't even come with a controller unless you pay extra.
Bit of false advertising here. The Vita is the one console out of the group that the TV will support the least, so to call it "Vita TV" is a misnomer.
I have a Vita and I love it but Sony isn't putting much into it at all except watered down versions of games already on consoles...where's the innovation in that? And they always just have to make a lighter skinnier version of an already established console just like every system Sony has ever put out...not different just smaller and different colors. What's up with that?
Cheaper how? wasn't the old one with a price cut up to 199 dollars? how much this would be like 150?
I love my Vita. It's a great system. And while playing Vita games on the TV is cool, what I really like is right at the end. Being able to stream your PS4 to another TV if you have this device? Awesome! My bf and I are both gamers, so I this would make my gaming a lot more portable when we trade-off on TVs.
Double post to evade "pending"
There's a Vita TV compatibility list on wikipedia already.
@PayneKiller Yes. The Vita TV can work via remote play directly with the PS4 or online.
@rIVAL_sWORD84 for $100 i get a console the size of a iphone touch that can play psp, psvita and psone games as well as stream video services like hulu and netflix AND stream content on my PS4 via remote play and over wifi. I already own a PSVita but i'm seriously considering purchasing this when it comes out in the US just for the ability to stream my PS4 content without having to carry my console around.
@yoteca Lite sorta wouldn't have worked cause of the DS Lite
Ya it seems really smart to me.
The other thing i thought about is maybe they devs will try less to mess around with the touch features if the Vita Tv sells well.
So less gimmicks for all and more solid games.
It's a win win honestly.
@PS2fweak wouldn't need to, you have the vita OR if you want a controller
95 bucks he said
@Bobby2147 Get Adblock Plus for your browser. It's free, and it eliminates all ads.
@vishisluv7 There is a touch screen, they were saying if you use PS Vita TV with dualshock 3, then you can't use the touchscreen because you are playing with a controller, and not the vita.
@PeterDuck Hopefully the touch pad on the ps4 controller will solve most of the touch screen problems. Not sure how many games use the lower touchpad on the Vita.

I hope wipeout gets patched to work with it. The only reason it's not is because you have to use touch screen for menus....
株式会社メディア・ファイブ indeed! ;)
If that's all then it should hopefully work with a ps4 controller?!
