This is the best review have have ever seen, heard... oh whatever, experienced. I love the rise of indie games thanks to online stores enabling people to download a game. That way, developers can create games without going through the hassle of signing a publisher to mass produce physical copies. The result is amazing. Really, Sony is the most underrated publisher on earth. Compared to Nintendo and Microsoft they are truly open and ready to get behind new gameplay ideas and combine them with the best technology the console has to offer. This game especially fascinates me because I think there are too few games that play in the desert. Nowadays, developers strive to put as many details into a world as possible instead of creating a true artwork that appeases mind and soul. Great job, to ThatGameCompany and Sony on that achievement.
@SitApathetic005 You can say that about pretty much any game or piece of art. As for Journey itself, if the emotional affect was just by chance, I'd have to agree. But judging from developer interviews I've seen, that's the exact goal they had in mind (creating a moving, emotional experience with minimal traditional storytelling methods). I haven't played it, so I can't personally say how well it works. But it sounds like a brilliant premise imo.
AH somthing that is great, Now can I play it on the PSV also. I mean since I can get it on PSN I want to be able to play on either or both systems. Save to the cloud and there ya go.
I don't think this game itself is a "masterpiece." I believe this game only got such good reviews because the person playing it interpreted the game's implications into emotional, lonely and put it to their own lives and their own perspectives. So, basically, (call it how you want) the game did a good job in, sort of, "tricking" the person's mind into making them believe such a simplistic game has a lot different values and meanings than other games might. That's just my opinion.
I guess technically it's a video game, but really it looks more like visual/audio/interactive art/litterature (without words as far as i know) that subtly tell a story that is not only defined by the game but the players emotions, life experience and thoughts while playing it. Pretty rad. :) Well done 'That game company'. These things are rare in 'interactive entertainment'!
Very interesting game, especially visually, but 9.0 is a very high score. Not sure what i saw on the demo rates a 9.0.
Amazing ideia. Very inovative. Surely i'll enjoy playing this. The character should be a bit more elaborated. Anyway, lovely game at all.
I couldn't even finish the vid because it looked so cool. I didnt want to spoil it, for when i buy it .
I so wish I had a PS3... :'( I've been following Journey since it was first announced and it seems even better than I anticipated.
