I'm so getting this now it's only £2.99 on Steam thanks to the summer deal. Cheers Chris for this review.
I'm sorry but this game... is just poorly executed. The controls, the pathfinding, the fact that the worm and the elemental ball keeps blocking your view of what you are picking up, the atrociously slow speed at which you pick up elements like water, while your village is on fire, all of these things cause so much more frustration than anything else. The comparisons to Black & White seem a little unfair at a first glance, however now that I've played the game, they are more obvious due to the poor controls and terrible camera. This is truly a Peter Molyneux inspired game, what with it's frustrating camera and controls, I love the art design and I do commend the developers for what they tried to do, but this game feels virtually unplayable to me, at least on the PC, although I can't imagine it's much better on the Xbox. A commendable failure if nothing else.
This is just to bad this is a down-loadable game I do not buy down-loadable games anymore it's a cheap way for the publisher developer to make money I want this game on CD or I am not buying. Ubisoft has money they are just being cheap.
Looks like a game meant for PC. The control issues are likely to be less of a problem with a mouse and keyboard in the equation, and hopefully the graphics will be better on PC too - the graphics in this video are a bit disappointing
@Gelugon_baat You are confusing a product review with a product overview. Here's a review of this review: This review is long boring and fails to offer anything that could not be gained from watching the game's trailer. Here's an overview: This review is for the game From Dust. It explains features in the game and has some gameplay video. It is 7 minutes and 13 seconds long.
@Gelugon_baat This is just a laundry list of features with the reviewer checking off which ones work. If you're a paid professional you should be able to form an opinion and express it clearly. In this video, he takes seven minutes to express that he really has no opinion about this game.
OMG! This game is SO ADDICTIVE! I played it for hours on end. Even after I had completed the level's objectives, I was still playing around and reshaping the landscape as I saw fit. Honestly, it is so easy to start playing this game and have the hours just slip away from you. Priceless! *SPOILERS, POSSIBLY* (When I discovered you could combine the powers together simultaneously, I had the biggest grin on my face!) I LOVE THIS GAME!
i was expecting this to be a pc game ported to xb and ps, from the controls and the later pc release date, it appears that i'm right about this. can't wait for pc release!
Great game has to be said be wayyyyy too easy, beat the whole thing including the challenges in about 5 ish hours, but a definate buy. nicest looking game to come to xbla
I loved black and white 2 (never played 1)... and this game really doesnt feel like that all! I am really enjoying it however. I sat to "give it a try" and found myself looking up at the clock only one time... four hours later! lol
@Gelugon_baat this is why i like giant bomb better then GS, it has those old reviewers and they know how to review. And don't say "then go to that website" BECAUSE I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE HERE!!!!! good day :) (not MAD)
Looks amazing, fresh ideas, does anyone know how long it is? It reminds me of a better version of Lemins. It looks like the type of game i've been looking for ages!
It would of been good if they gave us a better understanding of the villagers. But great review anyhow.
@jimy1475 I think Nintendo are just letting the Wii slowly die whilst counting down the days to their next console, the WiiU.
Okay English is not my first language, but before this review I considered my self excellent at it. Now, I feel like I don't know Jack lol
i do like the review as well, it is quite explanatory and does not leave you wondering how the game really is, the review is not vague, kudos... :)
whats with all the negativity with the reviews ???? its..., at minimum a look at the games coming and out already an insight.
@zgreenwell my thoughts exactly...man this review is a joke, i remember when GS would really know how to pick there reviewers, that was during the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. now a days they just nit-pick (their favorite line " these things are small but they way the game down" NO they don't) and they explain all the mechanics of the game, might as well tell us how they created the game engine. right?
Wordy much? If I wanted the whole game explained I would be reading the manual. This is supposed to be a review, say something substantial!
Not really interested in the game, but that was a truly outstanding review. Looking up the word "implacable".
@Warlockofhell, Agreed. I was half expecting Molyneux to announce a Black & White (light) that used Kinect to be a god and control/unleash your beast. Instead he announced that wonky on rails Fable spin-off thing. I'm still hoping for a B&W Kinect game though. I'm not expecting it to be complex at all, probably easier then the original B&W. But really performing god-like powers with your own hands should be worth dumbing down the gameplay.
@jpm1276 a highschool graduate should know what omnipotent means. i guess people do seem bright till they start talking...
A game like this could be very nice with motion controller... If well adapted. You could really feel like a god when lifting ground or moving water!
