WTF, where do you download the game? It just keeps playing the two Asians in the video.... can someone please advise.
Looks like it kinda works like World of Tanks, where paying doesn't mean winning, it just means skipping the grinding.
Both this and Hawken, while very fun to play, are totally pay to win. When they release an actual video game on the PC or console that is badass and is the basic cost of a regular game and I don't have to pay to win, then I'll buy it. It's sad really, because I'm a huge fan of mech games.
I've been a die-hard fan of Mechwarrior since the mid 90s. This game is the definition of a mixed bag. I'm waiting for beta to be over before I touch it again. And depending on what is or is not in the game at that time I may never play it again.
I think it is hilarious how I am watching a show called free of charge and not 2 minutes in they are talking about buying things >.<
Been playing for several months. It has its issues and bugs but I'm not too worried about that given that it's Beta. I will say that this is the first FTP game where they have really stayed away from pay to win. The only advantages gained by paying are increased C-Bill and XP rewards and access to the Hero variants, which aren't stronger or tougher than the standard ones, just different (and they also give you a boost to C-Bill and XP generation).
Keep it up PGI (although if you could hurry up Community Warfare some I would appreciate it :P )
I love this game, but the developers have to get the new jaegermechs and highlanders under control, or there won't be any other mechs in the game. In just two months light mechs have all but disappeared because they're dead the second a dual AC/20 jaegermech sees one. I refuse to make a sniping/ballistics build because that's not a fun playstyle for me, and once in a while brawling still works. But on that rare occasion when both teams bring lots of lights and brawlers to the match, it becomes one of the most intense mech games ever made!
I'm a top tier founder and I've been playing this game since day one. I love it. It is a thinking mans shooter though. I see some people get frustrated cause they expect a pacing in line with COD. Spawn, run and gun maybe kill a few people, die, respawn and repeat. Doesn't work like that. You need to work with your team or you will lose every time. You also need to know your roll and play as such or you become a burden to your team. You need to know each mechs weaknesses and strengths. You NEED TO AIM (sorry, some frustration from past teammates there) at specific parts of a mech to be successful. You can't simply hit a mech about its body and expect it to drop. You need to know your mech and how to build it up properly. This is a game where (even though I roll alone still) a clan is vital to consistent success. Being that I roll alone still you know when a clan drops in, cause they steam roll every time. Communication, cooperation and half a brain is required to play this game and enjoy it. - NIte
I've been playing since closed beta and I have never felt that you have a upper hand if you pay. I would recommend playing this game to all the new comers. It might take a while to get ur first kill but when you do its very satisfying.
Game is a mess right now. People build burst bots and litterally can kill you in 1 - 2 shots.
I've been playing it since Aug 2012. Sure some things got better and what not. But progress is so slow that I have to take breaks.
As of 2 weeks ago... With what I played the new consumables break the game even more. Burst mechs are king. Balanced built mechs are wtf owned in seconds.
There is also a new Assualt mech that can jump jet and has massive burst. They are called "pop tarts"... because they hide behind stuff, jump up and shoot a massive alpha strike before landing.
Atlas is the biggest mech in the game and can be 3 shotted with little effort.
If your late to this game, I would suggest you stay away for awhile. It's gonna take months before they get things back under control.
I don't usually say this about F2P games, I hate them with a passion, especially World of Tanks.
But this game is the only exception, been playing ever since open Beta and loving it.
@GodGundamNT1 not true. You do not need a credit card at all
@stan_boyd Yeah if you sub up you get cash and xp faster..
The skills you can get with the XP dont really make that much difference tho.
@naomha1 What? There is nothing in MWO you can buy with money that gives you an advantage during the match, and because the grind isn't bad either, there's no requirement to pay money to to advance your equipment out of match(unlike the ultra grind in Planetside).
Please do tell us, what you can buy to win in MWO?
@naomha1 Have you even actually played the game? It is in no way shape or form pay to win. There are no preferred types of ammunition, nor mechs. While there are "hero" mechs that can accumulate additional c-bills by an additional 30%, that's it. Play the game first before making accusations.
welcome to freemium gaming.
@Nic3546 totally agree with you. I too am an elite founder and have a clan waiting for the community warfare aspect. PGI is doing very well with staying away from the pay to win stuff. Just wish a better variety of maps and ALOT more mechs. I am REALLY tired of Forest and Frozen, lol
I hear ya, it seems the favored strategy right now is jumping highlanders with dual ERPPC's and a Gauss. Almost Made my entire garage useless.
Yeah, it's sad... Most matches are over in about 5 mins. No one hardly does the objectives. They are to busy WTF owning each other.
I rolled a 3 man dual AC 20 squad a few times and melted a team in seconds assist training them.
I actually miss the simpler times with single heat sinks, fewer mechs and LRM spam.
@Truth_Hurts_U I've been playing this game since day one. I'm a top tier "founder." And some of what you said makes no sense. The game is more balanced then it has ever been. Granted, bots are easier to take down than ever if you focus the right area of the mech and the other guy put most of his ammo there, but that's part of the game. I hate the halo jumpers too, but its a new dynamic. If your group rushes he can't do shit. I can tell you're an up close guy, (so am I btw my main is a short range Atlas) you're speaking out of pure frustration cause you're getting owned by snipers. Get a clan, or practice more. And yeah, they take a week or two to address specific issues, its a beta for gods sake.
@GamerYnoX Hawken is arcade play MechWarrior is simmish. Graphics are about the same just different Art styles.
Hmm wonder if it will come with a 21,000,000 C-Bill price tag like in BattleTech...
@DudleyDawson101 I am an elite founder. You must not have played many games.
Plus your so out of tounch...
AC 20 x 2 is not sniper weapons. There range for max dmg is under 300m.
It only takes, assuming an Atlas has 96 armor on his CT... 3 shots to defeat the armor and cause tons of internal damage.
Heavy Metal PPC and Guass or AC cannons own the battle field.
I don't know how many laser boats I seen because there are tons of them. People also running around with 6 PPC.
Games been in beta for months and you say few weeks. Shows how bad your off.
With coolant consumable and double heat sink fixes... It's all about burst.
Here's a tip get in touch with the game. You seem to be like the Dev's with their heads in the sand.
I won't care how much it costs, I want me some autocannon+SRM Assault weight smashing goodness. <3
@Truth_Hurts_U I'm an elite founder as well. Apparently you can't read cause I said it takes weeks some times to fix specific issues, not I've been a member for a few weeks or that its only been in beta a few weeks. I've been playing since it went online in closed beta on day one, and further more I registered the day they announced the game and back then it was just a single tiny web site to sign up and lock in your call sign. I've played thousands of games. And I never said AC 20x 2 is a f'n sniper weapon, your worse than a republican lol your just making all kinds of shit up as you go along. Your just whining I assume cause you suck at the game. Heres a tip jerk off, next time you have something to say to someone don't make up a bunch of things to defend your point like a 12 year old.
