Smh still looks like another Dynasty Warriors. Think I'll just call this one Dynasty Warriors VIII and pass.
looks like koei hasn't made many if any changes to the ai or mechanics of their engine since dynasty warriors on ps2...enemies still just stand around waiting for you to mash the square square square combo, BUT WAIT! you can end the combo with, you guessed it, ANOTHER BUTTON. now that's what you call depth. tldr version dynasty warriors reskinned w/ fists, and i bet fans of the anime will find the story lacking
stop it guys with the criticism, KOEI has one style (the Dynasty warriors style), I've played the first game and it was the BEST Fist of the Northstar game PERIOD!!!. For you kids that aren't familiar with this cult classic anime I can understand why you would say "Another Dynasty Warriors game". It's not Dynasty Warriors, Hell I love KOEI's Legends of Troy. The old DW element still works well for certain game story lines. Ken's RAGE 1 was a great game, I've loved those character's for 20 years and no anime fighting genre hold's a candle to these guys :) Looking forward to KR2
Another bad game ><, ok no. But is just that the dynasty warriors formula is too crappy and old, thats why these game are boring as fuck, i dont know how the japanese can like these playstyle so much. Same thing with GTA.
Its' dynasty warriors all over again... Any Ninja Gaiden is better then this. Warriors Orichi is has it all.
Previous game was OK, even it the "Musou" formula feels really tired these days. What I really missed though, was the amount of ultra gore I remember the franchise for. Guys that explode and dissapear? Lame. I wanted guts and stuff sprayed on the floor, I wanted Rei's attacks to actually slice... etc.
So is this an all-new story, or a combination of old story (from the previous games) and new story for this game? Because, like all 'Warriors' games like DW or SW, mostly have an old story. Only have little improve like new characters and that new characters stage.
Nice can't wait to pick this one up next year hopefully its as good or better then the first game inwhich I enjoyed a ton! Of course every gem as a few flaws in it but its them flaws that give it character..
looks good, but we all know it's gonna be garbage with stupid enemy AI and waves of enemies rushing at you, the only problem being it's the same enemy model cloned over and over...way to go. I'm waiting for the reviews...which we know is gonna be 6.5
I have always been a big fan of the series and loved the 1v1 fighting game that came out a few years back, but I remember Ken's Rage getting pretty bad reviews as a DW clone. This one looks no different. Hopefully a good story and what sounds like awesome voice acting can save the dated gameplay and battle mechanics.
First game was amazing, it was just lacking what this game will provide. More characters more stages and of course you get to fight the colonel! Feb can't come soon enough for me
I like the part where most haters here don't even fully played the first game , but they comment here like they did , with all their self righteous attitude and comparisons.
I don't like CoD , but i don't go bashing and hating at any CoD thread , first because it won't change nothing , haters opinion means nothing , and second that because thanks God my mamma raise me to respect other people's taste.
I'm guessing this a Omega Force joint...if so you can count on this being a Dynasty Warriors game with a different skin.
@sextourist agreed, I can't play dynasty warriors games anymore
GODHAND was Fist of the Northstar, well what I mean is it used so many elements that you can tell FOTNS was it's inspiration.
@omi1 you're very right at this point
I'm With you dude
@omi1 I wouldn't say best FOTNS game period. On PS2 Ark System Works (Guilty Gear, Blaz Blue) made a bada** fighting game of it that never came out in the US. Also there was an arcade unit made by Konami that was probably my favorite one called Fighting Mania that came out which was awesome.
Ken's Rage was ok, but it would have worked better if they made the game from the ground up with a slightly different engine. It was definitely still DW and was too sluggish, and it didn't really feel like anything was connecting. Hopefully they do better with the second one, though they should have gave it a different name than Ken's Rage 2...
@jsande23 lol yeh they only own or have major stock in all the game consoles we play them on :)
Yes, there was.
It's called "Fist of The North Star: Ken's Rage" or "Hokuto Musou" (it's Japanese name).
It was released in 2010 as a retail disc title on the Xbox 360 & the PS3.
@GamerOuTLaWz such disrespect hurts my brain.... its 2012... get over it.... if you are trolling then congratulations you went a bit too far
Your trolling really made me laugh
@GamerOuTLaWz you are really dumb. Movies, video games and anime are better in their original language with proper subtitles. Why is that? because translation is often wrong and don't depict the story and characters the right way. You sir are a big fat ignorant troll lol. And just for the record...how many languages do you speak? oh ..oh...only one...I see...If people liking other languages are nerds, I wonder what that makes you...lol...
@GamerOuTLaWz you are a cocky, ignorant little f.uck and a disgrace to humanity.
I totally agree I really enjoyed the first game and I can't wait to pick this one up when its released! Btw, is it just me or did it look like they took out alot o the blood the first game had in it? I loved that part in the orginal watching your foes explode like bubbles after a special attack!
@xgalacticax The first game was one of the best representations of the manga ever made into a game my friend....
ok let me re-phrase lamshmee (thanks for the response btw :) - this is the best Fist of the Northstar game that "I" have ever played (My badfor making a general statement). The Dynasty Warriors engine for me worked extremely well as it combined fighting multiple targets (which was done alot in the series) as well as it could work 1on1 fighter (with the online co-op this can be a possibility).
Not to mention I got tiedof playing Dynasty Warriors for years now :(All would have toadmit that the US has never had a FOTNS release that did it justice.LAST BATTLE (for the Sega Genesis) was a good game, difficulty was kickass where you had 1 life to complete the whole game (I loved that). The problem was that you knew it was FOTNS but the licensing made it so they couldn't call it that and all characters had to be re-named and
re-colored. I've played way too many FOTNS fighting games the past20years (most I still own) and non of them had enough memorable story content moments that made them re-playable. The Ark-system is still fun but it wouldn't allow you to enjoy the world of Fist of the Northstar like Ken's Rage does. In Ken's Rage you look around in game at the world
your in in a free-roaming environment; in the long run that has to meanmore than just going left and right jumping around block high block lowfighting just the main villain; Ken's Rage provides the journey ittakes to get to that main Villain. And it's not cheesy the way they didit, All of the content is from the manga and not the anime series; thatshould be a triple score in anyone book. My only issue was spellingSouther as Thouzer but on a pronunciation level I can understand whythey did that, they wanted to make sure your pronouncing his name dam
That's why for me Ken's Rage was the best FOTNS
game I have ever played and I was hoping so much for a KR2 and that theywould continue on to the FOTNS2 story content. The online co-op will bea great guilty pleasure that I doubt no true FOTNS fan will deny. :)
