I already love this game just by watching it. It combine all of the elements I've been hoping for in a game. I predict a great success for this FF XV.

kingdom hearts is amazing, and final fantasy is amazing. combining the real-time combat of kingdom hearts with the final fantasy advent children aesthetic is a dream come true!

I don`t understand the big fuss about this whole "action/turn-based argument". Are there that many of you afraid of trying something new? I grew up in the last years of Squaresoft as it became SquareEnix, never knowing what it was before, and was introduced to the company by Kingdom Hearts. I fell in love with RPG games since then. Hell, I bought a PSone when I was 13 just to play  Final Fantasy VII. The turn-based system in it was one of the best gaming experiances I`ve had; the action in KH was enough fun to keep me hooked for practically 2 years. I trust Nomura, a veteran SE employee, put in effort for this game to appeal to both fans.

Well, this is what we're getting. So many people whined about the Paradigm system from XIII and XIII-2 so what should we expect them to do?

I could've taken this game with that combat, but oh well... Looks like FF XV will be just another combo-slasher. I'll get it, though. I can't lie. LOL

Looks like Devil May Cry styles.

Beautiful visuals and action oriented combat....definitely not what Final Fantasy is about but change is nothing to be feared. Anyone can see that this is epic and definitely will buy it. Heck, I am getting a PS4 for this :D but its not like FF XV is the only reason. Did anyone see the trailer for the JRPG Panopticon? Cant wait to see what more Sony has to offer in the coming years. Bottom line, Sony has won next generation and despite Versus being removed from the PS3 line, it has been resurrected like a phoenix from the ashes and turned out to be a game I look forward to playing. Keep in touch Noctis...oh and Stella, please make an appearance as well ;)

Didn't play 13, not sure about this one either.

This is the worst mess up from SE ever. So not only there is NOT a new FF XV (that name is fake), FF vs XIII won't be for PS3 either. Very disappointed!!

Its about time they made an action game with final fantasy. We need to be doing what the cinematic shows the characters doing, not just I attack you now you attack me.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this Versus XIII a few years ago? So it's been brought up to now become FF XV?

I enjoyed the battle style of Crisis Core. I'll probably enjoy this one too regardless of the non traditional combat style.

I will remember this day that I have officially given up on a traditional final fantasy game from Square. I miss the turn based gameplay or even atb. I miss just leveling up my characters the job system, no actually playing all the characters is now a thing of the past. Now I will always know that this is how Final Fantasy want's to kill the jrpg genre. I hope I'm wrong and this game is amazing, but now my childhood is crushed.

this game looks amazing. really don't like how some people are bashing it just because it isn't like the more traditional entries in the series. especially since it was said to be action in the first place when it was announced with it's original name along side the first final fantasy xiii. hope people put there biases aside and at least try it. i mean Tetsuya Nomura is doing it and he hasn't let us down yet.

This looks absolutely terrible.

It's like they took the worst elements from FFXIII and just ran with them.

SE is dead.

Wait, what? Is that supposed to be Final Fantasy? I'm not gonna say there's no way I'm buying (based on so little evidence) or some silly thing like that but that gameplay does not look like an FF game. It could still be good, but it's sad to see the JRPG genre become so much more high-octane action oriented.

As someone whose only played Crisis Core and Final Fantasy XIII, I'm really stoked for this game. The "fantasy in reality" approach is tangible and the gameplay looks interesting. Def a purchase!

sorry Square, but FFXIII and FFXIV told me to avoid you.

An action-packed take on the franchise?  Meaning, strategy is not existent, and its another frustrating mess of game play that you have no control over like in FF12 and FF13.  Geez, I hope this isn't the case.  As much as I love playing FF through FFX.  I have been playing many of these games since the NES days and I would like for SE to finally get their act together.

Shoot, I just finished playing 7th Saga for the 20th time since it came out on the SNES.

I have played and completed VII through X roughly 3-4 times each.  Love those games.  I went back and played through FF I through IV.  They were great too.  XII and XIII.... I couldn't even finish either one because I became so bored and annoyed half way through.  Haven't played any of the MMOs, haven't played the XII or XIII spin-offs.  Hell, the last FF game I was excited about, played and enjoyed was Crisis Core for the PSP, though that was mostly for the back story of VII.  Each new game they come out with is all about graphics and real-time gameplay.  Call me old-fashioned, but I like my RPGs turn-based.  Square Enix has lost what once made them great.  And waiting around 6 years for a game that I can't even force myself to play all the way through?  Sorry, I'm done with this franchise.

Man, ive been waiting to play this since i was 24 years old. I am now 31, and feel too old to play games like this. I mean really how would my family look at me sitting on a couch playing a game like this lol. Thanks squareEnix for taking so long in development and forgetting about a generation.

Game looks fantastic. I like the move to a more action oriented Kingdom Hearts style (though I still hope for a good-turn based entry in the future unlike XIII and its sequels). Hoping not too many QTES or restrictive sections like the gameplay seems to show.

"something new"?  How many decades ago did you quit gaming?  Real time action is far from new.  It's something everyone is very familiar with.  Some people must like it, or there wouldn't be so many games being made that way, but there are also a great many people who don't like it, and I can assure you it has nothing to do with it being somehow "new".  It's because of the way it removes the decision-making from battles, making them something to watch more than take part in.

Don't get me wrong.  There are some good games that are action based.  FFXII for instance compensated us for the lack of strategy during battles by letting us plan strategy in advance by setting up gambits.  But then FFXIII weakened that pattern by having a more simplistic easy-mode version of that pattern where we can only choose roles and not actions.  It's not clear yet what chance we might get for decision making in FFXV other than the fact that any decision making is not done during battles.  I just hope it's not following the pattern that's been set up of giving us less and less control over our characters' actions.

@alzeer1 your English is 'rely missed up' by the looks of it, therefore your argument is invalid.

firedragons5253

@slainta Actually, I believe they changed the name from Final Fantasy Versus XIII to Final Fantasy XV. And its headed for PS4 and XOne because the current generation can not handle the graphics.

@PouyaDH OMG! I remember having and playing it, but now I can't even remember what it looks like! I also remember that it was made by Capcom, someone from the team that made Devil May Cry.

Birth_By_Sorrow
Birth_By_Sorrow

@gregam1128 Game was already in development, thank you. They just changed the name. I get those who want a good turn-based FF game (because I do too) but those who are just upset because it's now a main entry are unjustified.

Birth_By_Sorrow
Birth_By_Sorrow

@Tripwolf It's a real-time action RPG, not like the mess that was XIII where it couldn't decide which it wanted to be.

@lex_in_the_moon

It's weird how it seems everybody like Kingdom Hearts and dislike this, coz battle system in FF versus/15 is just like KH - action based with auto lock icon and crazy animations, and it's even directed by the same man. Yeah it's a spin-off renamed, but i think that's becouse they don't have anything better, Sakaguchi gone frome square, so Nomura is their's only adequate option.

Birth_By_Sorrow
Birth_By_Sorrow

@lex_in_the_moon It's FF Versus XIII renamed and improved. It was a game already in development regardless, and would have been released either way.

Birth_By_Sorrow
Birth_By_Sorrow

@vicsrealms It's more of a Kingdom Hearts/ FF VII: Crisis Core type system where you have free control over your character as you fight.

Birth_By_Sorrow
Birth_By_Sorrow

@bobtheflounder You like a certain gameplay style, fine. But this game has been in development, like you said, for 6 years. It has always been adveritsed as an action based RPG. Nothing has changed here other then the name and graphics.

lex_in_the_moon
lex_in_the_moon

@bobtheflounder Yeah, the last time they actually tried to revolutionize classic turn based formula was over a decade ago with X. After that, each entry has been completely changing the gameplay (though I enjoyed XII), and it would be really nice to see another turn based FF game. Maybe they could throw in some more action oriented bits into the battle in some way, I don't know, but I agree 100%.

@firedragons5253 @slainta He means, you can slap the "Final Fantasy" name on it, but that doesn't make it Final Fantasy.  If they left it as Versus XIII, I'd be fine with it.  But what they've done, is basically abolish turn-based.  They claim they may return, but we're not stupid.  The new series will be action-oriented, forever.  They'll try to satiate us with a dinky iOS release, and we'll laugh in their faces, and keep our money.

PouyaDH

@PaulJanson @PouyaDH  correct, it was for PS2. and it had this Japanese design, spiky hairsyles, cool sword combos, great story board. i really missed that vibe, and didn't even know it till i watched this demo and for no reason got reminded of Chaos Legion. Nostalgia :). I'm really excited for this FF
