Final Fantasy XV - E3 2013 Sony Press Conference
Watch the Final Fantasy video that aired during the Sony E3 2013 press conference.
Am at loss for words this is the awesomest its like watching naruto in a different dimension and sasuke gets to be the hero
Am i really the only one who realized they're putting in Kingdom Hearts battle system to this game? Was KH's battle system so bad that you guys are criticizing it so much here?
NOOO....PS4!!!! Now I have to wait for PS5 so the price lowers. That's why I haven't bought a PS3 because I was waiting for PS4. Shoot I have been waiting for this game for so long!!! this is horrible. T_T
If I can free roam that kingdom, I'll free roam it all day.
I'm serious, though. If this game is a little like, say, Infamous with FF elements, it would be amazing. Imagine if you can walk around with your party, get spotted by a few soldiers, engage into a battle scene, fight em and then gain exp and then after continue, see villagers walking by and some have little sidequests where you can go kill some soldiers and get a reward. Find secret items around the towns, etc. If the game ISN'T like this, and it's a completely linear game, I will be VERY dissapointed. I mean just think about it! I really hope I didnt't wait all this time for a game that could have a lot more potential. Let us pray.
So... God of War had a baby with Modern Warfare while learning Japanese on Rosetta Stone? Looks cool; I'll probably get around to playing it after my massive backlog of games gets some attention...
I will rent it, but buying it only increases squares revenue and won't make them desperate enough to remake FF7 like everyone truly wants.
People prefer to hate this game and remembering old games, we don't have to criticize new ideas, we have to stop thinking that only old games are good.
People complain that is not a regular rpg, like they forgot that from the very begining they ssaid that this was gonna be a action rpg. I think this looks great and i cant wait to see more and play it
So long Final Fantasy. It was nice to have known you.
I guess I'm going to have to find somewhere else to get my jrpg kicks.
A lot of neat things in the trailer, I hope we get some more info on the game within the coming week.
I don't want to wait for TGS
It looks great and it's a good reason to get a PS4 along with Kingdom Hearts III. Still, we have yet to see if the game holds up because making a great trailer for it can't really determine the greatness of a game.
It looks awesome.. but why the frames rate is low at the gameplay??
it's PS4 it's supposed to handle the new video games and play them well
I have being waiting for this game for so long, they always say it was gonna be worth the wait. I thought that was BS, but now that i see this, yea i think it was worth the wait. this is better and looks way more fun and cool than in the old trailers.
Is this ff v 13, ff15, or both?
Also I hope this doesn't become an action game, I hope they just came up with an even more fluid rpg combat system.
So what is the connection between Versus XIII and XV? I saw its logo change from one to the other.
BTW, graphics look very PS3-like. Was looking forward to it the last 7 years but now it's too little, too late IMO.
Hopefully this is a true RPG and not the crap that Final Fantasy has become. I'm sick of playing RPG where I'm listening to a story and mindlessly fighting mindless machines.
Don't know why everyone is saying this is linear. The scale of the city when he jumps on the airship and when Noct fights the leviathan thing is huge. Plus the combat looks soo fluid so far
I was really hoping the next time FF had a new number it would be a whole new game, but some ps3 game pushed back to be a ps4 game with a name change to cash in on a whole number FF name? uhg...all about the money in a big way. I mean if it takes place in the same world or is connected to the world or rules they set up in FF13 why wouldn't the name reflect some sort of connection? Will FF ever be refreshed back to include any staples of the FF series? Turn-based combat, summons, party members you can level up and choose between, magic, exploration, side quests, things you can miss, all that stuff. FF13 felt like one big cutscene, that they made you fell like you were playing, you got to move forward, and sometimes talk to people, and pick a paradigm? system while you watched your party fight in a cutscene style way (I know I know just complaining). Glad to see a few comments calling FF13 a joke by the way.
Turn-based combat is not dead, it's just not mainstream anymore, games like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Valkyria (spelling?) Chronicles, especially could be improved in the ways of combat and strategy. All fun games, all turned based combat. Choosing your party members based on what you wanted to have access to and what builds you wanted are things that are just gone now that people can't play with and have fun anymore in the RPG space, for whatever reason in the big budget world of big releases. I was happy when I first heard about a FF15, but disappointed about it just being versus13 same ole non FF game still, guess that's why I am ranting abit here so forgive that.
Maybe Mistwalker will make another Lost Odyssey or another of their RPGs, but they don't sell well they are niche markets to say the least with how much bigger gaming has gotten since the times of older FFs. Hopefully the release of FF14 will be go alright, hoping to get into to the beta I recently signed up for.
Finally some news on Versus XIII, but I'm actually worried about this. That trailer was very good, but it only had cinematic sequences and linear straightforward action. It will be such an HUGE disappointment if XV proves to have the same faults as XIII... but anyway, I hope that SE shows us a huge world to explore, with tons of side-quests, in a deep and complex RPG for its fans (:
I don't miss the turn based combat, it is outdated and there is very little space to improve it further. What I would like though is a huge world and free roam in that kick ass setting, using the fancy rich cars and everything.
@maxneopayne I know that is a popular view, and I would play it and love it, I love FF7 just as much as anyone else does, but the current gaming market would reject a remake. It would not sell well and most people who play it that don't belong to the nostalgia or niche crowd would find it boring, long, and very tedious in it's entirety. This leaves SE really no reason to devote any time and resources to remake the FF7. Plus what does a remake really mean?
Is a remake simply all shiny new graphics, some added quests, dialog/story clean up, sexy new character models that look like some future version of a hipstore threw up all over them (judging by their current game characters), pre rendered backrounds replaced with over the top architecture (again going by their current games)? or is it something more similar to what we have seen from their Advent Children movie but in game form which is something more true to what FF7 would look like I think in updated form. It could easily be just as terrible if they tried to reboot this old game in order to meet market demands is what I am trying to get at. Seems like the current games reject any sort of turn based combat so what happens to that aspect? All reasonable concerns I think SE would have to address if they ever did remake FF7 and I would worry about.
I don't know if some sort of sequel or just new story would work, I mean they did X-2 and now this versus15 whatever those games where in the same world of previous ones, and with old characters. I personally would like a new FF7 with some old and maybe new characters, the materia system (one of the best), but many aspects of the old game as I stated above just would be so dull and boring now to so many. But hey I would gladly settle for just another Advent Children style movie, it still makes me shed a tear at certain moments no matter how many times I see it lol.
Here's hoping for anything.
(quick note, forced myself to play 13 for 20hours, couldn't do it any longer than that, terrible, not at all interested 13-2 or whatever it is)
@goldiba they will hate on everything
@goldiba Its not a matter of hating, we don't know enough about this yet from one trailer to either love or hate it.
Its more a matter of, you can move forward and do better sound and graphics, or in developing story lines, but why destroy a tried and true formula for nothing?
Sadly while seeming to be moving forward, they actually go backwards in terms of actual game play and enjoyment. The Final Fantasy series stood alone in their atmosphere and feeling of belonging, to a genre that was the perfect mix of action, battle tactics, fantasy, sword and sorcery and puzzle solving. In short it was in a genre all its own!
@Pete5506 Get out Lightning! Lol, just a joke
@lostn Versus seems to have been renamed FFXV.
@Buck_Swaggler I guess I don't like video games then. I've seen so much better.
@hayato_ their isn't a game i want more than this this alone sells the ps4 for me if i wasn't already planning on getting it lol i just hope i don't have to wait to much longer after the release of ps4
@Talavaj Look at the map when he's jumping on top of the airship. It suggests that towns are pretty huge and free-"roamable". lol
@Simba13 @goldibaI also wanted to add that people gamers especially, a group/culture that has become quite tribal in their opinions and behavior, would not criticize this series so much if SE took all their new ideas, and slapped a new name on it. The problem with what SE did was they took everything away that FF games were for a very long time, and still called the game Final Fantasy, leaving many fans confused, leading to so much "hate" and debate about old games VS. new and so on and so fourth that we have seen for a long time now since 13 was released I would imagine.
@Simba13 @goldiba I respect your point of view and also i have to agree. FFXIII was horrible, comparing to FFVII, FFX and other titles. They could launch more games and offer two kind of formulas, that would be the best so everyone would have what they want.
@Fate86 @goldiba Of course I agree with you Fate86, Squeenix would avoid all the negative comparisons by simply NOT calling the new games Final Fantasy. They are in TRUTH different individual games to the initial much loved franchise, so they should be named as such.
Why wouldn't Squeenix simply do that then?
Obviously because they sell many more of the games under the Final Fantasy banner, than they would as individual games.
BUT they are in reality NOT Final Fantasy games, as they were first presented and played over many years, they just carry the name, so Squeenix are committing the crimes of FRAUD and MISREPRESENTATION, conning customers by selling them something which they are not!
However, they can get away with this because they will include names like Choccobos and Cid for example, which they can claim are the vital link to the original FF franchise.
Illegal then, probably not, underhanded and morally wrong, definitely!
Which is why none of us should trust either Square Enix, or any other franchise producer, until they can legitimately prove that what they are selling is actually what we THINK we are buying! :(
