don't tell me that you can't play this game solo only online I don't like online play ... game looks awesome
the DNA that made advent children really shows up in this video. Square-Enix ought to give something special for those gamers who are migrating from FF11 to this one, they fought for years in Vana'diel they deserve some sort of special treatment, maybe exclusive items ? or one month free membership or something ..
The graphic looks amazing. But i have not seen the gameplay graphic yet so it's too early to say something. I hope they make the battle as fun as possible. flashy-fastpaced action RPG maybe
Cant wait till the 22 to play this game its going to be awesome. this trailer may look better than the game but the gameplay gfx are the best of any mmo out there. With all the changes they have made to westernize this game it makes FF12 look like a poorly made beta.
Yeah, this Square Enix company needs to just make movies. Their gameplay can rarely live up to their graphics. But the trailers are still extremely entertaining.
Gamespot, could you please start broadcasting TGS live next year like you do E3 every year? I'd like to see it in action... somehow :D
I really hope no one falls for the absolutely beautiful cut-scene movie that this was. The game, like everyone else is saying, will be NOTHING like this. And I guarantee you, Japans gonna be the majority players here.
LMAO @ the cards being somehow quests you can pick up. I would like for every single quest line offered in-game to have a massive CGI introduction like that one!
Wicked awesome, hopefully the whole game will be as good as the video. Square Enix really needs a boost, considering the last few FF games they made for PS2 & PS3 really lacked a proper story and characterization.
@ rockerbikie i agree with u but honestly every single mmo game i ever played or ever heared needed money for this and that u know the story
Sure it looked pretty, but the gameplay will have approximately 0% in common with the trailer. I hate how MMORPGs hype up their game with gratuitous cgi trailers that only aesthetically resemble the game. That fight in game is probably a simple tank n spank where everyone spams their best attacks while standing still. And if there is any gameplay involving those ridiculous ships, it'll all be done in very scripted sequences or cutscenes where the world has no physics or dynamic enjoyment to speak of. If this is all part of some story, then it should stick to single player, where the real stories belong. ANYONE can throw a lot of money in a cgi trailer. It in NO WAY (except visual style) represents the actual game. It's insulting when companies do this. They clearly have an idea of what we would like in an MMORPG battle, so they try to distract us from their comparatively derivative game with a pointless trailer. It's a sad and obnoxiously arrogant attempt to delude people.
And that is because some videogame companies suffer from terrible misconceptions towards their very own games. Ripping of successful franchises does not make them "for Everyone, from Casual to Hardcore" Mother/Earthbound saga that barely left Japan. Boktai by Kojima and some other really well crafted RPG and were considered "not profitable outside Japan" or "not appealing for Western customers" That is nonsense. Now, Gamefaqs' daily poll made me lol'd. "Would you pay to own a DVD made up of cutscenes from a game?" That is pretty much what is happening with some videogames. Not only some FFs but also series such as Metal Gear Solid. As much as I love the saga, it is more like watching a movie than playing a videogame. (Not that it is completely wrong, but the first titles were not as extreme in that aspect: few steps, cutscene; then fight followed by cutscene)
@Lan_EX_Hikari I could not agree more. It looks like the guys in Ivalice Team are the only reminiscents of the old FF5 developing teams...only they're not. I don't blame Square...in the early 90's, companies had to make RPGs for gamers, cause they were the only ones to play'em. Nowadays, we have crappy but looking good FFs (I'm mostly talking about 13 here), since they have to please everyone. Now games are more acessible, but we lost a lot in content (there is always kojima and some others good developers doing the good work to prove me wrong, though).
OH COME ON SQUARE ENIX!!! you expect me to fight gigantor flying monster with that tube fighter plane? What happen to the fighter ships in FFXII used by the sky pirate? haha
Being that I was a long-time FFXI player, and a fan of the franchise - I'm really looking forward to this game. The closed beta wet my appetite quite a bit, and it's one of the games I will be investing quite some time into in the near future (perhaps I'll play it for longer than I played FFXI (wich was 6 years roughly)). I just wish they'd get it out on digital distribution (Steam (as I basically don't buy games if they don't show on Steam)) :-/ Animations are superb, classes are fun, combat was enjoyable. This isn't a rush-through game though, as things will take time. But it definately is a proper RPG in a MMO setting, like FFXI was. Example; You don't like going out fighting much; then go and be a pure crafter character and earn your riches. At least for any FF-fan, I'll easily recommend it.
hope this one will be good ... I need a real FF experiance after the bad experiance with FFXIII.. I cannot help it .. but I have to compare with FFVII , VIII , IX , and X.. a real extream fantacy :)
@d3c3b4l I'm in luck then, apart from playing Runescape when I was younger, I fit both those categories. I really want to know how much this will be to play to see if I can justify it, but I sooo want to. They have a cat girl race, FF battle mech and art design and an MMO in one =D
eh maybe. not a big fan of mmorpg's, too repetitive but i'll give it a chance considering its FF... still! FF is better as a offline RPG.
@ Lunar52 yea you probably are considering that final fantasy XIII, Versus XIII, arigato, and this all went into production around the same time. so figurativly speaking they all should get done around the same time. but since FF XIII wasn't that great, thought its gameplay was actually really enjoyable, it lacked the hours of play fun you get out of the series. this games graphics seem a lot better, so naturally it should take more time. as for Versus and arigatto they aren't even close to being done yet. which to me means that they should be so god damn amazing we will cum at least 7 times just from the menu alone.
See now why couldnt FFXIII have been like this trailer? I liked this characters and story from the 8 minutes I watch them vs the 25+ hours of FFXIII. All I wanted was a traditional Final Fantasy with sweet next gen graphics. This one looks pretty cool. Cant judge by a trailer but anything is better than the last two thats for sure.
As far as trailers go this is top notch. As far as the game itself.. I'd say it's more for gamers new to MMORPGs or huge fans of the Final Fantasy brand.
Ok. This should be offline tradicional JRPG. I don't want to play as some random empty character. I want to play as that guy from the clip!
@rockstar3603 Posted Sep 15, 2010 11:04 pm GMT 3. in real life a monster will not wait 3 or 4 turn to attack i hate to break it to you but...there are no monsters in real life, thats why its called "final FANTASY"
Japanese online games always seem to focus too much in grinding, and not in questing... that why i love wow, and only play lineage 2 or aion when i'm on my desktop... x)
Yeah, awesome little movie. After seeing this people would most likely buy the game. I am glad I was able to play in Open Beta cause the real game is oh way so far off, nowhere near ever close to what you see in the clip. Square Enix have great 3D artists, video designers and whoever works on production of these clips. But I can't say the same about the online game play designers. I mean Final Fantasy series almost all the games are fun to play except the FFXI and now FFXIV which unfortunately is not ready for release yet. They are rushing it, it has very little to do and most of the things that they planned are not in game yet and its good if they will add those things a year or two later. I think FFXI even had more content at the release than FFXIV. Quite sad of a failure.
Typical SE tactic to showcase beautiful CG movies that in no way represent the actual boring and lackluster gameplay the game presents.
@rockstar3603 your second reason "I want" it doesn't matter for me or anyone else what do you want, the final fantasy series is another kind of gameplay what it's called RPG, now many games use that formula even for shooters as fallout and borderlands where you level up and have stats, Final fantasy is a great game
im not a fan of FF because 1. great graphic but no good gamplay to fit in. 2. i want to fight in 3rd person view not take turn 3. in real life a monster will not wait 3 or 4 turn to attack 5. what in the world a little girl fighting for. her barbie doll. this is a very good game with great graphic. but it more like a movie to me.
Am I the only one who thinks this is being released way to close to XIII? Even though its a completely different game.
