If you think about it one of teh directors for the game left during the production of FF XIII and ever since the game has been kind of sucky.the games that was not part of teh main seris like crystal chronicles had some pretty bad reviews. But even tho it got a bad score theres still hope for them in the ps3 making and they dont really have that much time till march rolls around.if this was a FTPG(free to play game) then i would still play it but its a waste of my money so im going to wait till teh ps3 release. also what i dont understand was that 1)what sense does it make to make crappy menus even tho this is common in MMO's people learned to fast tho teh menus with ease but with the crappy menus they give its impposible and teh combat is really stupid they could have sticked with FF XI's concept but changed a few things then there lving is a pain in the *** due to the guildleves. why cant we stick with teh regular lving once i was past once lv 24 it took me a total of 3 weeks till i lved again.then the shops sell limited armor which is the worst idea ever and i order to get good stuff u have to craft them which you will be doing alot beutiful game but terrible play square better pick it up with teh ps3 release or there going to lose a lot of fans
Man I was shocked when this game turned out so bad. Final Fantasy has really dropped the ball. Two lacklusters in a row. FF13 was okay, but not what I'd expect from this franchise. The fan base is pretty much cut in half at this point. I'd like to see square enix recover, but it might be over for them.
4.0 sounds as fair as it can get. When you get 5.5 from IGN you know your game made a bad move somewhere. Let's hope this helps the community that is so devoted to play this broken grindfest.
WHY would they do this to their game? It makes absolutely no sense. None. What is their justification for doing so? SOMEONE must of said something defending why they implemented a difficult UI amongst other horrors....
by the way wanted ot add a note of a thing I just noticed is it just me or all the characters looks as dead? I mean they don't move at all if you don't move them, like breathing or changing position like in aion for example now that's just an example but come on don't make them like bots or puppets
after seeing this I think I know what's the main problem for square phoenix I don't think maybe I'm wrong that they never did a game with an interface like divinity II and similar, you don't have arrow on the interface to control attack or movement but just for inventory and options most of the FF have an arrow for control movement and other stuff also it's more like an rts style not like action game where you use only keyboard to control movement exept kepping pressed the right mouse button to look around with the camera, I'm a fan of FF for the stories of the FF that I know FF VII VIII IX I liked those and I'd love to try XIII but need to buy ps3 and now they make this I'm very dissappointed
So very disappointing. I loved playing FFXI, it had a really great combat system, though the lack of solo ability killed it for me in the end. These all seem like gripes that could be fixed in the long run, but with Old Republic on the horizon I think my money will be going elsewhere.
Looks awesome, but its just the look. The gameplay looks horrible. What the hell happened to Square Enix. They freaking suck!
This was the most interesting review I've read in a while. I've never seen such a high profile game from a legendary developer fail so badly. FFXI was a brutally tough game, but this one is so bad it will probably drive suicide rates up.
It's a shame FF games use to be awesome but ever since friggin EA joined squaresoft and became Square Enix they have turned crap. Every year it gets worse - FF13 was ok...but still wasn't hughely impressed and this looks as pants as 11 was.
you would think they learn from thre first MMORPG that failed miserable but no they actually manged to make and even worse game,I actual though that would be hard to but no they made it seem easier. Time to go back to what made Final fantasy good Which was 1 threw 9
I thought the exact same thing when I was beta-testing this, but I didn't think "your game is horribly architected" was something they wanted to hear from a tester.
4/10 was actually too nice. Such a waste of my time and $$. I haven't bought a game and been so disappointed since...well, ever. Sucks, I remember the good old days in the 90's when Final Fantasy was the best of the best. Now they're getting progressively worse with each new game.
is it the quality of JRPGs dropping or the WesternRPGs getting stronger? games like DragonAge, MassEffect, Fallout are getting awesome!
Jumped into open beta kind of excited. Jumped through hoops to get the game downloaded, then jumped through hoops to get registered only to have that be the most intersting part of the process. I find it impressive that SQ/Enix seem to have learned nothing from their previous foray into the MMO genre. FFXI was not a perfect game but it was at least playable. Kevin is a harsh but they kind of deserve it for droppinig the ball so completely. MMO are done to fricking death, when a company with as many resoruces as SQ/Enix and completely fail to make something playable or even approachable it is amaziing.
