Final Fantasy XIII Fang Summons Bahamut Gameplay Movie
Check out Fang's summon: Bahamut!
It looks like the new summons monsters are more than meets the eye. Still looks pretty good though. Hope I get to that point in the game soon.
@ Qiynah - I see what you're saying. But to be fair, I'm comparing console games to console progress in games. I'm just not seeing the natural progression in JRPG's like I thought I would. And it's fustrating, because you know the technology is there and they're not using it. It's the same for gaming period, no matter who the devs are. If Dragon Age today was pretty much the same as Baldur's Gate (great game) back then I would be just as disappointed. Just as you see the jump between those two games, so should it be with games in general(not just graphics). Though I still love the silent black and white films, especially comedy. Can you imagine what it would be like if they never implemented sound or color? PS. Message to SE, we're STILL waiting on a great 4 player co-op RPG on console.
definitivamente la saga sigue creciendo, ya no se que esperar de Square Enix y su gran game FF, este si que es el big de los role-games...... XD!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it me or does it seem the summons are straight out of transformers lol only joking i av nothing bad at all to say about the FF saga, cannot wait until i get this game to add to my collection
strange doesnt seem as majorly kick ass as he usually does,,,ah well probs early game :) I'm still getting it :-D
@TheoleDominion I understand your lament over the state of JRPGs, and I would agree that they've refused to evolve past late-90s gameplay concepts for the most part. However, I feel that comparing FF to KOTOR, Mass Effect, or Dragon Age would be a mistake, because all of those titles were developed by the same Western company, and honestly BioWare has recycled just as many 90s-era concepts as Square. Also, console popularity isn't the best indicator of quality in the SNES / PS1 era, because all major consoles were developed by Japanese companies and naturally featured mainly JRPGs, while at the same time Western CRPG companies such as Black Isle, BioWare, Bethesda, Origin, etc, were doing amazing things -- just not on consoles.
@Qiynah - I disagree. JRPG's were leading in just about all major catagories on consoles, from the storytelling, to graphics ,combat systems, and gameplay. I can't think of any RPG on console that did more than FFVII at the time of it's release. They were leading in sales too, even here in the west. Now it's looks as they have barely evolved, with the exception of graphics. The voice-acting, storytelling, and gameplay is nearly the same as it was 10yrs ago. I'll reserve judgement on the combat system, but using gauge/meter base attacks has been used in alot of JRPG's. And as far as appealing to the West, it was SE themselves that announced they wanted to do that by collaborating with developers from the West. If they plan to succeed in doing that they cant be lazy or cheap when it comes voice-acting and other important features found in Western RPG's. I do realize they were not referring to the FF title when that was said, but there ARE some things that are outdated it shouldn't be used anymore. Starting with that ridicules voice-acting. I also feel that real time strategy combat systems used in KOTOR, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age would be a step up over the turn-base system. Those systems have proven you can have deep strategy and action at the same time. So, yes they are fallen behind in a alot of areas.
bahamut doesn't look as cool as he did in previous games...and i don't really like the voice actors they picked.. and the music isn't that great either... versus xiii is going to be a lot better then this one
@TheoleDominion To knock JRPGs because they 'fall behind' on the defining features of Western RPGs is a bit of a stretch. As for the video... Ok, sure. I will do as Square has projected me to do and buy the game solely on their suggestion that it might rival what they've done before, even though I feel the last game in this series succeeded early on but completely fell apart into wtf nonsense with little reason to continue playing until the end.
wow they made bahamut's art style really retarded this time what is he a transformer now? i smell a movie crossover =P
Kinda funny that Bahamut killed 3 of those things with a couple of slashes when he first got summoned, and it took like 8 hits to kill 1 when he transformed.
The summons in FF7 crisis core, now that's what i call bad ass! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLNlKBXMzDg&feature=related
LOL... ok lady lets get one thing straight; there's no way Bahamut can be called a sweetheart, ok! On another note, I can't wait for this game!!! :D
I still wish for an updated FF7, even if it is just a HD remake like God of War Collection. Still my all time fav of the FF series.
@ Darmage Thank you. It's great when someone has an open mind about new ideas in a series. Personally I like all of the summon ideas in this game (except maybe Brynhildr, I'd rather see what they could have done with Ifrit).
can't wait to get this game but i personally prefer the old school summons when you summoned them and they came down and basically blew everything to high hell. i don't know if i'll be summoning a lot if the characters are going to be yelling "unleash hell" and "shred them" 15 times everytime they summon someone. it was annoying in 20 seconds let alone 60 hours of gameplay.
LOL, Loved the line 00:37 when behamut flys down..'You know what to do!'... umm you wanna a cuppa? Also can someone confirm does this game play in TRUE 1080p?
stop crying about transformers. did you not notice this is final fantasy 13, they had to make something different. if you want the same thing youv seen in most of the other games, then just go play them and stop whinning. children please.
whoa this looks terrible. after FFXII i already had extremely low hopes for this game but after this video i'm starting to question whether or not i'm going to get it. summons are vehicles? saying the same annoying things over and over during combat? single player MMO environments? this will be all flash and no substance.
Oh gosh oh gosh! It's the selection system! Why can't more games adopt the tales aproach? I was actually interested in this game till that point. Selection systems make everything so dull.
I love the style of JRPG's, well you can add games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age too. The thing about JRPG's that concerns me is this. The reason I feel Final Fantasy VII was so successful was that it was such a huge jump from it's previous titles from the graphics to the great story that captured alot of gamers at the time. It pushed the envelope in ALL categories, unfortunately that hasn't been true in the last 7 or 8 years(with the exception of graphics). Both story and the way a story is told seemed to be stuck in 1998. When you look at the stories,voice-acting,gameplay, and the cinematic presentation of today's RPG's (Mass-Effect,Oblivion,Fall-Out 3, Dragon Age and others) JRPG's are seriously falling behind. I hope they really get with the times to bring a once proud style of genre back to glory.
I am gonna buy this game but for the next one i would love for SE to put Nomura aside for a bit and take the series back to its roots with Amano style looks and the classic Knights, Thiefs, Mage ext. type stuff with a huge open world. I kinda like the 4 heroes look on DS but i want to see the characters look all diferent when it comes to age and style. This will be a day 1 game for me do but plz SE put the sifi look to rest for a bit.
After watching this video, I'm a little fired down from it. Of course I'm still going to get this and love it. Seems like all the time has been spent on character visuals while the rest has remained the same.
I'm tired of all those open worlds with nothing to explore. couldn't add at least a tree or two. disgusting. Oh and the game-play is what makes this game, so what can save this game. probably it's popularity.
Instead of Final Fantasy, why not call it Final Power Ranger Transformer Thingy game?..oh I forgot.."and Fantasy"...lol. I wonder once I put my game in, my x360 will transform into a robot too with the flashing "red rings" on the chest..LMAO I'm kidding Microsoft...well...until it happens...lol P.S. Hey Square Enix! I hope you're sending batteries with the game when it ships...we'll need a remote-control too..you know...for all the R-O-B-O-T-S you put in the game...lol..WARNING: This message will self-destruct 10 nano seconds.
Dont get me wrong people I am a huge final fantasy fan and i know for a fact that i will be getting this one, but i mean...come on, the fact that they took out towns completely, npc's that you could talk to so that a player could get more of a background of the story, and no shops or anything like that? Thats why I played final fantasy. The fact that you could go into town and talk to npcs added to the depth of the story which im sure is why everyone plays final fantasy. I liked going around town talking to npc's finding different side quests to obtain some rare weapon of some sort. It made me feel like i actually accomplished something. yes beating the main story is all good and an accomplishment all on its own but still. What was SE thinking. Not to mention what they did to the fan fav summons. The fact that they turned these epic summons such as bahamut and ifrit into vehicles is well...stupid in my opinion. Sure it looks somewhat cool but if i wanted to see something that I would go watch power rangers or transformers. Dont change something completely that is already loved by many fans. Your supposed to improve on the things that need to be worked on...I heard that they were bringing back the world map and stuff like that in Versus so I am hoping for the best from that game. Or at least the next kingdom hearts game. I do not have high hopes for this game so hopefully it will not leave me the too dissappointed.
