Feedbackula - Saints Row Ban Bother
Saints Row IV has been banned in Australia. Johnny goes to see what's happening down under.
Good news, for once it's NOT the US that's shaming itself w/ its backward laws. Which we do plenty of, but at least this time it's is a nice change of pace.
Also, love how the down under guys hat has all these, dunno, wine corks hanging from it. Not sure how culturally accurate that is, but I have a feeling its very.
just wanted to let you know, back in the day Australia was used as a exiled land, Britain and I think France would place their criminals and other no gooders there which is why most people there have a certain criminal gene in their body, basically this gene makes a person more angry, irritable, and makes the person break down that mental wall that allows them to commit a crime, all the bans the Australian government has on their media is so the criminal gene some people have dont suddenly kick in and society doesn't go into a mad frenzy, So I can understand why some of the leaders might want to keep harmful media away from the people....if your that passionate about gaming tho and dont want to be censored...just move.... or wait sorry, living in the land of the free over here dont really realize if you have that option lol
The worst thing is that, Australian films have some crazy, horrific things happening in them. But a video game with some humorous missions and weapons, is banned. So either ban everything or don't ban anything, it's wrong to allow films showing pure violence, sex, drug use, but a video game isn't allowed lol.
Just for the land down under... Publishers need to monitor, developers need to modify code and aussie gamers lose in more ways, beyond a simple anal piercing, rectal destroying gun that should be shoved up more censorship board members than one! Have a nice day :)
Ccensorship board can have their anal probe, just don't enjoy it too much :p
Would be funny and much more appropriate if Australia banned games coz they are crap, like there would be a bureau of reviewers and if some game came out that was completely broken and wasted the public's money, it would get a big "rejected" stamp on it with an imprint of a boot. That would probably cause much less public outrage.
just when you think australia is learning from the world upping its game rating so adults can play adult content they go and pull this stunt. 1 step forward 3 back. ive made more progress eating soup with chop sticks. also i would love to know where i can get some alien drugs and an alien raping probe gun....wait a minute how ridiculous does that sound. ah well ill just order my copy from the uk hahahahahhaha suckers. the laws made to be broke.
Wait a minute. The Snowden comment was fucking stupid. Snowden is giving away state secrets, that's not censorship.
Well, the game IS way over the top. Personally, I didn't really like the game. It was just way too easy. Plus, I never found the premise intriguing to begin with.
I still laugh at the fact that every country is happy to have an anal probe weapon in a game and us Aussies are forbidden..
I really think we Aussies are not the ones with the problem. :P
Either way I'm looking forward to the game.
He's right, sexual violence isn't funny. If anyone is going to storm the government to get their anal prob gun back, then they have some serious issues. This game simply goes too far. Not saying I agree with banning it, but you really can't get that upset over not being able to play a crappy, disturbing game like this.
This Johnyy cat gets fatter, sloppier, bigger man-tits every single week he does these videos...my god man, can you walk? have you heard of a gym? are you allergic to having your heart rate above 100? dude, take care of yourself geezus
PLEASE. For the love of whatever you believe in:
DO NOT defend censorship. You are a fucking JOURNALIST.
Just watched a few of these episodes to catch up. The one on "The Last of Us" made me weep for humanity. When will we see the first episode of Feedbackula that's about an episode of Feedbackula? I would also like to see a report of people that claim they were dropping their subscriptions and yet still comment (badly) on other reviews.
Why care about this, the government is screwing itself anyways, citizens will just import the game and the government will have lost some taxes.
Wow some of these comments are hilarious. OMG CENSORSHIP!!
Americans are so damn funny. You run around like headless chickens trying to protect your "freedoms" when your freedoms are already gone. Australia isn't anywhere near Communist (and BTW, you mean Fascist, NOT Communist, you ignorant dicks). They have a better country than you in almost all respects, so they must be doing something right.
First off there is zero evidence for a gene that cause criminality. If so we would be condemning the children of every criminal. Secondly history shows that you did not have to be a criminal to get shipped off to AU just piss off the right people, and please don't give me that home of the free crap because we are not free in America.
@Ruukasu01 still getting it from online you mean :D hehe. Sif miss out on the probe gun!
@Ruukasu01 Ignorance is bliss yeah?
@Ruukasu01 I respectfully disagree. While I am loathe to employ the 'slippery slope' argument, censorship in any form is one place where I feel it's valid. Here in the US, we have the reputation of being permissive but we have the same issue. Look at the MPAA, we have priests review every single movie that the US releases and they literally count swear words per film. All without ANY oversight of any sort. So before US gamers rattle on about Aus being communist or whatever word they don't know the meaning of but think it makes them sound smart- put down the flag and pick up a mirror.
Censorship is a serious concern. Some politico jerk off in a capital telling you what is right and wrong while running backdoor scams and diddling interns is hardly either hyperbole, or even uncommon. In countries with elections, you can tell the gov't what is and is not their right to even address- so it's always a valid topic of discussion. It's literally a line in the sand that needs to be drawn, and one video game is just one part of a much larger issue that goes to the very core of free press and free thought. It's easy to dismiss because it's a silly video game, but it does touch on a nerve that far exceeds the scope of one game being tasteless or violent. Cheers.
@heat_masheet well that's the thing, I bet if they DID decide to ban a game in your country it'll be the one game YOU want to play. Not a damn thing you'd be able to do about it... Except order it online, download it on pc, smuggle it in from Bali... etc.
@heat_masheet So you played the game then? :P
@Jedo I'm not interested in this idea as much as having a panel of straight men decide what women can walk around topless. Feminists want women to be able to walk around topless, well I agree!,,,, as long as there is a panel of at least 10 to 20 straight men who decide if a woman is or isn't attractive enough to walk around in public without a shirt.
@echolimaromeo I remember the first time I read between the lines...
@Patohua1 Euh ... to me the most disturbing game is Manhunt ... this one is more like : Jackass ! Nothing is too much and can't be made fun at.
@Patohua1 anal probe gun. hahahahahahahahahaha
@torogdl Isn't the anal play achievement a requirement for all hipsters? I thought they enjoyed that sort of thing?
@philMcCrevis Here's one person that should be censored. Forever.
@philMcCrevis What a thoroughly unpleasant person you are.
@philMcCrevis dude thats pretty uncalled for...not cool.
@MooncalfReviews I dont understand why you think , that most of the comments are from the USA? others speak english too.. Both communism, and fascism used heavy censorship, so it makes no difference which one the commenter use as an insult.. I think that the ignorance you speak of, is coming from exactly those guys, who think, that just people from the USA makes all these stupid comments, and have no idea of what communism or radical nationalism is... Btw, who besides the USA knows what real freedom is? France maybe, who wanted to pay headmoney for every gipsy that returns to Hungary, or maybe Canadians, who had transparents all across Hungaria that sayz, we dont accept any more of you no matter what. ????? I think USA knows what they are talking about.... with all due respect..
@TheLamaKnows @Ruukasu01 You are totally right. Go around in most "democratic" country saying you are reading my kampf or that islamist in afghanithan/irak.etc are not terrorist but resistant (when they fight in their own country, not when they attack others- lets be clear about that). You will probably end up either charged with troubling public order or send to jail for inciting hate against a minority. Censorship always existed, and unhopefully looks like it always will.
The US is certainly NOT the only free country - heck, it's not even the MOST free country. There are plenty of other countries that are more free than the US.
Freedom is ranked in two ways: Economical Freedom and Personal Freedom / Civil Liberties.
As far as Economical Freedom goes, US is ranked 10th. Being beaten by Hong Kong, New Zealand, Canada, Switzerland, and Denmark just to name a few. Oh, and the US is beaten by Australia too.
As for Personal Freedom, well, the US aren't even in the top 10, where as all the countries I listed above are, including Australia.
I don't know where you got Hungary and France from - in the Economical rankings they are 48 and 62 respectively.
The way you phrased your comments implied that the US are the only ones that know what freedom is, so they are the most qualified to talk about freedom and being free. I just pointed out that simply wasn't true. How is that an opinion? You asked "who besides the USA knows what real freedom is?" - and I gave you an answer, which showed that there are plenty of countries that have a better grasp on freedom that the US - including Australia!
As for how it's measured, they look at things like: the freedom from slavery and forced labour; freedom from torture and death; the right to liberty and security; freedom of conscience, religion, expression, press, and speech; the right to privacy; the right to equal treatment and due process and the right to a fair trail, as well as the right to live. Other civil liberties may also include the right to own property, the right to defend oneself, and the right to bodily integrity. The page for economic freedom lists all the things it measures and gives in depth descriptions per country for them.
The US may qualify for most, if not all those things, but the rankings show that other countries do them better. Just because American's are free to do certain things, that does not mean they are not oppressed in any way. We all are to some degree. The rankings help indicate just how free these countries are in relation to each other.
I'm honestly not seeing anywhere that I put an opinion. I pointed out that the US are not the only free country, and aren't even the most free. Try as much as you want to dismiss my point as nothing but an "opinion", but the facts still stand.
@Scorpion1813 @Banyek You simply missed my point here. My point was not to compare countries on base of any kind of freedom. My point was, that not only americans can feel bad, and talk bad about a ridiculous censorship, and that not anyone is truly unaware of radical political states, and most of all, that countries where you think people have relatively large freedom, can also have some things to be ashamed for in some matters. And for Gods sake, dont put your opinion on grounds that are coming from a third party statistical measurement. They make those statistics using unknown judgement systems. At some case its mostly correct and givs you a good picture of things, but sometimes it just doesnt make sense. People in the US can shoot a guy in their backyard, as defence, yet they are not in the firs 10? Thats why you dont use these things as a root for opinion..
