Feedbackula - Diablo III Expansion Expletives

Blizzard officially announced Reaper of Souls, the first expansion for Diablo III, this week. The GameSpot community didn't seem overly impressed, so Johnny's come back to sort things out.

I like how angry people are getting about this as expansions for blizzard products 10-15 years ago were also $60.

If they didn't call it Diablo 3 this game would actually be a pretty nice game.

I like D3, the loot system was lame, and I like picking my attribute points, but I like the game regardless.

People don't realize this isn't really an "MMO" style game.  No one remembers the amount of shit people actually bought with real money in Diablo 2 and how much it actually DOESN'T matter because you don't HAVE to interact with anyone else..  Why did they add the auction house?  Because it was going to be done anyway.. on a less secure level.  And I guess they wanted to make a margin of profit on it.  Diablo 2 had entire communities of people that just farmed and sold things to people, including character rushes for actual currency.  So if not the auction house it would be something like D3items.com, where troves of people would be buying gold, gear, rushes, and  more.

I was just as disappointed in the game in the long run as most others, but the Auction house..?  Meh.  Who cares who does or does not have incentive to play the game for gear.. that's on them.  I can understand it being a problem on something like World of Warcraft where bragging rights might mean something and you're generally forced to work with others to progress in certain aspects of the game..

Concerns:

- Still no skillpoints

- Still no "proc effects"

- Still no "+X to skill Y"

- Deckard was killed by the toothfearie

- Artstyle ingame looks like WoW. 2.0 and not Grim Dark Gothic like the prequels.

- Game is too easy on normal and nightmare.

- No cross class skills like auras or summons on items.

- No endgame

- Skills are too balanced and don't seam powerful/fun, compare witchdoctor with D2 Necromancer.

- Diablo has boobs

- Scripted scenes have very bad motions and acting and are totally unecessary.

- Nothing in this game even reminds me of Diablo 2 or Diablo 1

The next time you put up a crappy video using passive aggressive, witty jabs and supposedly 'talking' about the D3 Expansion - perhaps you should actually talk about what they announced in the expansion and further ask yourself why they are being implemented.

Sure the AH ruined this game, but these fixes are trying to improve the game towards how it should have been. Play the game and be rewarded with self found loot.

Call me a fanboy if you will, but realize - my facts are true about the expansion and all they're adding to counteract the Auction House.

Your negativity is not appreciated - look back to Diablo 2 expansion - It improved the game to make it amazing. D2 vanilla had just as much blandness and flaws as Diablo 3 Vanilla.

Extra facts: Blizzard Expansions are usually $40. The much hated RMAH can actually make you money while playing the game (nothing is ever good enough is it) (I myself have made nearly $500 playing casually since launch)?

Maybe I should include examples for those who like to jump to conclusions about stuff (like this Website):

-Loot 2.0, not only is it worth it to find legendaries now, they drop more frequently taking away from peoples temptation to use the AH

-Loot runs: 15-20 min runs now rewarding you well pulling people away from the AH.

-Nephalem trials - endless dungeon concept with different twists, challenging and rewarding players pulling them away from the AH.

-Mystic - possibility of 'account binding' your gear - thus making high end gear untradable and taking away from the AH. (It has also been rumored that AH boughten gear 'may not' be used by the mystic)

-Paragon lvl moved to account paragon lvl, thus incentivizing you to make and play any and all characters

-Paragon point system - a harken back to the good ol' D2 days of customizability. (You can also respec them)

-Smart Drops - drops tailored to the character you play (Your Class, Your Build) - which further pulls people away from using the AH.

-Rumored - "Iron Born Mode" (Self found) - A whole new server where you can only find what you use, no AH.

-Ladders - Paired with Iron Born Mode, makes this game how it should have been.

This was an unfair review of the 'Expansion'.

The only thing this video talked about was how 'horrible' this game was. AH this AH that. Very true, but it completely discredited the changes made by the EXPANSION.

What you failed to realize is that this expansion is being made to counteract all the poor decisions made with the vanilla version.

I...could....not...agree...more(!).  The concept of the AH being not just a trading house between players for within-game found/crafted items, but purchased items (and gold as well....) with real world cash has totally screwed this game to death.  The fact the there are players out there with widely-varying amounts of personal discretionary real world cash to spend in the AH, has totally shown what out-of-control inflationary funding input can do to social organizational structure.  When I first started playing D3 last year, I was shocked to see some incredibly worthy items for sale for several million gold in the AH, compared to the pitiful street value offered by the in-game merchants.   Just checked a few days ago, and now these same items are selling for hundreds of billions in gold, and the pitiful in-game merchant's street value for the same items has remained unchanged.

This is absolute insanity, it's completely driven by the corporate greed of Blizzard, and that is why I am refusing to play the game anymore.

Seems like this franchise would benefit a shift of hands.

Crystal Dynamics comes to mind.

Blizzard should've counted their losses and ditched any expansions for D3 and instead start work on Diablo 4 or another franchise entirely (more resources into Titan?).

They lost so much good will with D3, it cant be salvaged even if they manage to plug most of the holes in the game.

My god, you guys can take diablows 3 and have it.  I loved d1-2.  They took so many hours of my time back in the day.  This auctionhouse shit? why not just go play WoW... OH WAIT.

i dont understand it really. diablo 3 is really goooooooood. i played diablo 2 and i couldnt stand to play for more than like 5 minutes. every1 sayin OH HOW ITS SOOOO MUCH BETTTER. i think the problem is people are sooo caught up in the nostalgia and was probly like theuir first pc game and it was ever so impressive. and now they bring diablo 3 which is everything diablo 2 was and better and people HAAAAAAAATE IT. cant make every1 happy i guess. It is just a dungeon crawler. i think its enjoyable one compared to many others.- can we give it THAT atleast?

So not yet playing D3, and being a huge fan of D1 and 2, is D3 worth my time when it comes to console?? BTW no longer a PC gamer, :(, had to stick with console financially...

I won't pay 60 bucks for one act in game, that's for sure. Other things that they promised are OK with me in a way of free patch. As to the AH and people who bash it, don't use it! I've played the whole game when it came out with 3 different characters without using the AH up until the inferno difficulty and it was a great experience. Sure, they could have done some things better than they have, but it was fun non the less.

Bottom line, I've payed 60 bucks for the game I've played for 800 hours in little over the year (all different character plus hardcore). It was entertaining and worth my money, maybe not as good as D2, but comparing to other games playtime value it's superb. If they change the price for expansion to 15$ maybe I would change my mind and buy it, otherwise I'll stay with the rest of you and skip it (for different reasons, but still...)

@orth3rion Agreed.  I've been calling it World of Diablocraft since before it launched, and most of my complaints about the game would be null and void had they just called it that.  Complaints about the auction house, online only component, combat being too action-y, the complete lack of even the smallest survival/horror elements, and so on.

Of course complaints such as the one I had where Diablo 3 only ran off of a single core on my CPU 60-80% of the time for the first six months or so after launch (and before launch too) wouldn't be resolved by changing the name of the game...

Bastion00
Bastion00

@Nastydude Why does no one remember the community of gold, item and rush sellers that plagued D2 back in the day?  "D2 was better" and "auction house ruined the game" should never be used in the same sentence, let alone the same discussion.  Or am I just going stupid?

damnyou444
damnyou444

@NastydudeThe problem with Diablo was never the loot. The problem was that the devs balanced the  gameplay around the RMT. Including class design and balance. All the novel features that got introduced in the early preview vids got thrown out once the RMt got announced.

@NastydudeI don't think you realize what Feedbakula is... It is a show that showcases comments that people posted on Gamespot on different games or announcements. This was not a review by gamespot.

@helldragonzer It's not actually Feedbackula worthy =/
It's just EA coming out telling people what we knew was their intentions since the wanting to include mobile style free to pay model into their pay to pay more model, like Dead Space 3 for example.

They can't charge more than $60 bucks for their games, how they think their tripe is worthy of more is beyond me, so it's no surprise they are going for the free to play casual crowd.

Making a Feedbackula on that would really be a waste of time. I at least, wouldn't bother watching it.

@ZanderDF Wow if you aren't being sarcastic you are a complete moron.  Diablows 3 was the worst game in the series for many MANY reasons...  But I'm sure you aren't smart enough to understand, guess tahts why you are playing diablows 3, only idiots play diablows 3 *facepalm*

awesome gif btw.

Bastion00

@xJointChiefx It's good for a play through, I just didn't appreciate how everything became a focus on soul wrenchingly God awful gear grinding through the bullshit mobs of inferno difficulty; where your dying is not based off skill, but what the combination of special attributes that pack of blue mobs you just so happen to cross has.  Then again, I played before many of the recent changes were implemented, so who knows.  I just know it was fun to go through it once or twice.  And I did admittedly farm ponies..

SteelVelocity

@xJointChiefx Sure, if you want to stay entertained for less than three days. That is how long it took me to realize that the game was poorly written, poorly designed, and simply boring, Auction House not withstanding.

i2eaper0f5ouls
i2eaper0f5ouls

@xJointChiefx ignore the naysayers, they were just pissed that it wasnt exactly like diablo 1 and 2 despite the fact that it improves on literally everything from those games (from a gameplay standpoint).

They wanted the dated skill system with less customization and freedom, they wanted gold to be worthless (ie: the hate for the gold auctionhouse), and they wanted the game to be grey and brown and visually boring, instead of bright, popping visuals that still work with the dark tone of the series (they used oranges, reds, and dark purples instead of browns greys and greens, you be the judge of which one is better).

helldragonzer

@telaros @helldragonzer Actually the can charge $60 bucks, just look at Sim City, and chaces are the free content will be even worst than what they have now. And besides we need to make sure they get the message that at least some of us don't want that type of business model.

ZanderDF

@xeoneex66 @ZanderDF smart enough? ITS JUST A VIDEO GAME. A QUALITY DUNGEON CRAWLER . omg fanboys. im not sayin diablo 3 is the best one in the series im just sayin its modern. Its like the zelda series. since ocarina of time came out it set a standard,. now every1 is sayin nintendo cant make a proper zelda game anymore even tho zelda games are still really good. diablo 3 has its faults but i think it makes many improvements in several key areas such as improved graphics, gameplay is more fluid and more customisable. I think its its an alright game. its not THAT bad.
