I am so pissed off at ppl who actually think this game is average or below. This deserves no less than an 8.0 as a demo
@PirateMonkey Its not abt gtx280 or any other high-end card. The game runs pretty sick on even a mid range 8-series geforce. But i'll disagree with you on FEAR2 blowing away Crysis in graphics. I've just played FEAR2's demo, and I'm not saying its graphics are bad, but they're NO way near Crysis. I'm sure you must've seen Crysis running maxed out on a GTX280 :) Apart from all that, seeing how much the other engines have "matured" over time (Unreal Engine, iD tech, Cry Engine), I didn't see that big "jump" in the engine they're using in FEAR2 from the one they were using in the original FEAR. Just my personal thoughts thats all..
For all you guys who can't see a change in the visuals buy a 280gtx OC. Then the visuals will rip you a new one. HDR etc, new physics. I ran this maxxed out i mean 1920 and it blows Crysis away. Runs at about 140 fps, A.I. is killer as well, but the only problem is that the blood looks a bit cartoony.......:)
Played the demo, AI was about the same, but didn't see any catch fire or really try to cover, mostly rushed. visuals have not been improved, but noticed more of everything else, little things, more items/buildings etc to make it look more vivid. crossing my fingers for this to be a good one.
Looks good, I just hope they use some creativity with the level design in this one. So many times I'd find myself lost in corridors or sewers, not remembering which way I came because everything looked the same.
Bluebusiness: I can call it mediocre because I know it will be exactly the same as the first game, meaning in regards to the horror etc, that it will be mildly chilling the first 3 times I see Alma and then dull the next 6 times. Its not a new genre at all - FEAR 1 was a corridor shooter through and through with better than average AI. I haven't played the demo but collectively everyone who has says it has lesser AI than its predecessor and the visuals have not been drastically improved on. Read my review of FEAR 1 if you like!
This is time when you can barely see differences in graphics from one game to another, and you are talking trash about looks of the game? You make me sick!
It kinda confused me at the beginning. I said wtf this is the firs part but then I got it ;). This is the game of the year for me.
The demo was just amazing i think this will be much better than res evil 5, i was alittle dissapointed in the res evil demo.
I'm trying to decide between this, Res Evil 5, and Street Fighter IV. At first, I wasn't even considering this game as an option, based on the good, but repetitive nature of the first game. However, I tried the 360 demo last night, and I was pleasently surprised by the increase of slow-mo gore, which is somewhat similar to Fallout 3, but maybe even more over the top than that game, weapons that remind me of COD4 with some flavor thrown in, like the laser gun, the exciting mech sequences, more variety in enemies, and a spookier atmosphere than the first game. People turned off by the first game might want to give this demo a look, because this game, to me, is far superior to the first game, at least in what I experienced in the demo. The Resident Evil 5 demo was somewhat dissappointing to me, because of the lack of checkpoints or save points, so if you die, you have to start the whole level over again. It also seemed to me like it changed very little from Resident Evil 4; a lot of recycled ideas with better graphics. I'll have to see the reviews on the final versions of both games, but in my eyes, F.E.A.R. 2 was a more impressive demo, because it expanded upon the first game, and made it better, whereas RE5 changed very little, if anything at all. The quick equip D-pad feature is a good improvement, but it just seemed too much like Resident Evil 4 with Africans instead of Spaniards. I've never played a Street Fighter game before, so it would've been nice if they would have had a demo.
Fireboy 78, believe it or not but i prefered fear 2 over resi 5. its shocking for me to say that but im a little disapointed with resi 5 and i feel that capcom havent changed a thing. you cant walk and shoot and i was hoping they would upgrade that but i was wrong. i enjoyed the FEAR 2 demo more.
I played FEAR 2 demo, I think it's so good game! But I played Resident evil 5 after I played FEAR 2 demo. I told myself, FEAR 2 is boring and buy Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil is better!
OK the game is almost here now everyone before it comes i ordered 2 boxes full of new Underwears cause with this game i am going to need them, i sugest you do the same :P..............Oh and don't buy them white, black is better for the ocasion if you know what i mean...........................
wow this is awesome but i think the game is freaky and scary!!!!!!!!!!! i aint sure if i should puchase this game?!
'Biggest loser' how can you call this mediocre? This a completely different action genre. FEAR is on top of the horror based games out there. The demo freaked the sh*t out of me yet I still wanted to play it. I love how monolith combines the bad@ss and the scary in one game. For instance when you fight inside a mech or battle enemy officers and then you fight off ghosts and have to distinguish between reality and illusion. FEAR2 is going to be a great game. I am disappointed in the graphics of the ps3 version though, after seeing what Killzone had. But on the computer the demo looked quite impeccable. I can't wait for this game. The multiplayer should be great as well.
so am i right in saying that u dnt play as the same person from the first one he died in the explosion then...or wotever
moh sakhaii, that was ony a demo, demos are usualy the game form its earlier stages of its development. and yeah i dont like how people compair this to the orginal and files, the original is nearly 5 years old and the engine and mechanics are dated. after playing the demo i got even more excited about it. it have a feeling its gonna be scarier aswell.
I played the Demo and it looks good, anyone who thinks the first game looked better is smokin' somethin' I didn't get a look at the story and haven't yet finished the first one so some of the other criticisms may well be valid.
Demo was terrible compared to first FEAR.Glowing enemies, retarded HUD,downgraded AI and particle effects, terrbile weapon sounds, ctting leaning out of the game, medicore graphics for this year and ..................
Not interested in this. The first game relies too much on repetitive environments and its gunplay, to the point where it becomes dull and tedious to play (despite the excellent AI). I can't see this being any better - Monolith have tapped into a franchise that people like for some reason and will continue to make mediocre games like this and Condemned. And people complain about developers 'dumbing down' games - you bought them!!
I hope the game lives up to the trailer. You can never tell by a trailer and cutscenes if a game will be good. But, I have a good feeling about this one.
doesn't this game have EXACTLY the same plot as the two expansion packs that were released for the original with MINOR differences? i absolutely loved the first game but having played the demo... mechs and revamped glowing florescent headlights on previously badass-looking replica soldiers that now look absolutely retarded doesn't do it for me... moreover, why the hell did they make you play a completely different guy who happens to have the EXACT same abilities as the point man in the original game? so much about this game already seems worn out, i'm going to wait and see what the other differences are between this and the original are before i commit to it.
Will definitely wait for the pc reviews before I even think about buying this after playing the demo. It's also funny that they've already released a patch for the pc version after their forum was flooded with complaints about the demo.
I'm glad Warner took this to Court for an appeal and got it re classified, uncut and released in Australia at M15+. Michael Atkinson can suck on that!
looks good, too bad the PS3 version of the original fear is so badly ported it is very hard to enjoy playing.
