Commonlife, that's actually Ron Perlman. Great voice I might add, perfect for Fallout considering he's done the voiceover for the "War Never Changes" part in all of the games. F3 FTW!
Just magnificent.I can't wait to buy it.Its graphics are the best and the atmosphere is the old one.
to Rimstalker im glad that you like it, and its really good to see a fan of the original who's giving this a try ;)
It looks like they caught the atmosphere of the original games, now just add sick humor and a few Monty Python gags and we are good to go. I must admit i was skeptical at first at the thought of it being an FPS or even a follow-cam, but it just might work. I can't wait for this game to hit the shelves I am taking a few weeks out of the calendar, so it better be worth it. Only thing I would like to see is a co-op mode, they missed their chance in Oblivion, to bad they didn't pick it up for this one :(
The graphics looks good, kinda it could be the actual game-play! They caught the perfect first line "War... war never changes" so it may indicate that they understand what made the atmosphere in the original games. But the power armor guy.. eh.. they'd better have an explanation for that - like the story take place before first game. To be honest, my point of playing tha game was to grow in power and get the power armor. In the first it was depicted as made of junk (almost) but still looked shiny on vga screen. In the second game power armor mark II looked much better, at least smoother, more deadly. In Fallout Tactics they've made it look even more sophisticated (even though I remember something was not correct) And here it looks like a piece of trash (almost). It is automated and has a reactor (right?) so it should look like it would fall apart with breeze. That ruined ps2 Fallout game for me (yeah, apart from all other flaws) that the armor was not really fancy and was not an uber thing like in pc game. I hope power armor in the actual game will be more desireable that one shown in the trailer
I played the original Fallout 1 and 2 for over 1000hours of game play and then more with mods. I pray that Fallout 3 lives up to all the promises that have been made to keep it as close to the original designers envision-meant with Free roaming (Back and Forth) completely non-linear game play. Read the article in GAMEINFORMER issue 171 July2007 “…. Level one to a cap of 20, and after dozens of hours of play you will reach a definitive end to the story.” I hope after the end in the story there is an option to continue playing just like in Fallout 1 and 2! Also I hope I don’t have to continue the story if I just want to do side quests and roam around for over 50hours if I choose to! Furthermore I can’t see the ‘EYE SHOT’ option in the targeting mode I hope I can still snipe in the eye like I could have in Fallout 1 and 2 because if they take that out it will basically ruin the game for me! I also hope I can still reverse pick pocket a ticking stick of dynamite into NPC’s pockets then walk away 10 – 15 feet and watch the fireworks!
I loved the fallout series from the beginning, They have a great mind set so far for what this game needs to look and feel like. The atmosphere is key here. It is going to decide how the player feels and responds to his or her enviroment in and out of combat. Look it might not be an RTS but it still feels like fallout. Lets see some game play videos and I'll be convinced. Though so far Bethesda looks like their aiming to keep on the lines of the fallout franchise and less on the lines of a run and gunner (don't get me wrong I love FPS just as much as the next guy). Good job so far Bethesda, Change is vital sometimes and though you can't please everyone, you can do your best to make an awesome franchise even more resound. But take your time and keep the game polished and smooth, don't lose the atmosphere and keep the action and serenity balanced and you will have a hit on your hands. Apocalypse + 50's theme, and music... 2 thumbs up.
rockatanski, you simply can't make Fallout First person. Then it won't be fallout at all. I love fallout the way it is thanks. I'm sure they will loose a massive following-base if they convert to another format. In any case, there are more than enough other FPS/RPG type games out there now. Very few companies stick to their original concepts for a game genre nowadays. Its sad really. I loved my classics, and I love the latest and greatest. But if you have a formula that works, don't change it just to get on the bandwagon! Anyhows, thats my thoughts. Fallout should stay fallout. period.
I think it should be First Person. It's time for Fallout to go hardcore down and dirty. Could you imagine if Stalker had the full RPG elements? It would have smashed Oblivion off the map. Hint hint Bethesda.
well the design of the armor is "oblivion" style the lines are soooo of the same artist that made oblivion :D
as long as they stay to the tried and true atmosphere that makes up the fallout world i'll be happy. Of coarse they need to stay true to the gameplay of the previous games, or are we going to see Oblivion 2: Fallout Isles
I'm glad that they put in the "War, war never changes" catch phrase and the old 40's music theme, it fit the mood and scene nicely. To me thats what the Fallout games where always about, the atmosphere (and of course the awesome game play). Now I just want to see some real game footage to convince me that this isn't just Oblivion with guns and mutants. So far so good.
I think this video shows that, fallout 3 gameplay look like oblivion, i can be wrong but all of the video is ingame graphics. I'm sure of it because of the poligons and quality.. but it captures the spirit of the fallout world. nice song by the way..
