EVE Valkyrie: Unreal Engine 4 Video Preview
Unreal Engine 4, Katee Sackhoff aka Starbuck and more confirmed for Eve Valkyrie. Check out Cam's preview for the latest update on this highly anticipated space-sim fighter.
Elite - SC and EVE Valk. jesus. All looking good. 1 thing though CCP have on there friendly internet spaceship game developers is they know hoe to make awesome internet spaceship models.
nice, but always the same ... industry behemoth pumps Money in starving indie developer ... he last two years the free to Play market got plastered with games like this ... star.conflict / hawken / strike vector / swtor:gsf ... to Name only the most prominent ...
this is like dust / if you are a ccp fan you will swallow it, if not you will just play planetside.2
This does look amazing. Very nice to see space sims making a minor surge forward and a nice little comeback. Going to be a great year for space sims of any nature. Now, if we could just get Egosoft to bring some honor back into the X series, that would be awesome.
@scorpioisrising 2 space games > 1 space game. All I need to say.
Looks cool but not great, I don't expect it to be an incredible game, partly due to the linear environment and the underwhelming side of the skirmishes. Nevertheless it will surely be fun and interesting, I don't think that they will screw up with the gameplay, and that's quite important as well.
there's no sound in space you know? all you might get to hear on the cockpit is some vibrations that manage to get to your helmet.
Can someone explain whats the difference between this game and Star Citizen? From the footage I saw they both looks the same. Yet, there is so much hype about Star Citizen.
I don't care what engine. As long as I can get this with the rift and it's awesome...I'm a happy gamer.
So happy the space fighter genre seems to be headed for a comeback this year. It's been a long time coming....
Looks like SHIT and space is ugly and bright in this...
Star Citizen not only looks better but also includes a Single player.
They can put their MMO into their arse
When the two engines are being shown I can't help but think how much better the unity one is. I don't know if it's just this type of game or what, but the parts with the unreal 4 engine looked all... same -y if you get my meaning. And it looked way too bright ALL the time, with the unity bits it looked dark like space should be =/
I'm sure the unreal 4 engine is bloody incredible, its predecessor was pretty damn brilliant, but for this game it looks, well, sh*t, it's not right for the game.
I know the PC version of EV will run on UE4 but at EVEfest the PS4 version was still running on Unity, I'd like to know if it's getting updated as well.
CCP is pretty much garbage now... so i dont have much hope for this game actually being any good.
the vids look fine, but everyone should know by now that vids dont mean anything.
@natanmir already making UT4
@ferna1234 Go watch Gravity, realism isnt always better.
@ferna1234 The game is science FICTION
Lets start with the obvious 1) Star Citizen looks way better 2) Star Citizen is open-world and you can travel almost anywhere you want and you can do trade and mine and do many other things while EVE Valkyrie only has linear battles 3) Star Citizen has a Single player Campaign with a story and characters while EVE Valkyrie is MMO which means only multiplayer skirmishes in space..... Star Citizen is a superior game all around
@wallacom Star Citizen is so much more than dog fighting, this is dog fighting/shooting missions.
@scorpioisrising Because multiple good/fun games in the same genre is just TERRIBLE for everyone
@scorpioisrising Star Citizen is gonna be amazing, but don't let it blind you. The UR 4 is supposed to be utilized for everything from Android to PC to all consoles past 2011. Star Citizen is being coded in such a way that it will suck all the awesome sauce out of your system. This will obviously deliver far superior technicality. Now with that in mind, try to critique this vid a bit more realistically rather than a sad gamer tainting the Star Citizen name with his ignorance.
@Johny_47 I agree with you but to be honest CCP strength was never graphics, they are pros at complex and in-depth game systems, but don't seem to have the talent to create a good functioning game Dust is an example, great concept amazing in-depth customization, horrible execution, so I'm not really impressed with this, lets just hope it doesn't turn into a Dust....
@vadagar1 You can actually play this though...
I'm sure start citizen will be great, but people need to stop haililng it as the sci-fi-baby-jebus before they even properly let people try it at shows.
@vadagar1 Visual improvements always come towards the end of the development, right now they need to get the core of the game right.
@vadagar1 PRE ALHPA
@DeathwachMarine Project Morpheus man.
@Geminon CCP is quite a lot better than they were four years ago.. They seem to have lost their do-everything-everywhere madness.
And as someone who has tried this game, its fucking jaw droppingly amazing to play.. Just, i can't even describe how cool it is. I will buy an Occulus JUST to play that.
@silversix_ Guys.. Its an occulus game.. It needs to be rendered twice.. at like 100fps... Think a little..
@silversix_ PRE ALHPA
@silversix_ Engine is scalability, they will never use a game's full graphical possibilities in a mmo, that is simply not possible for most systems out there. They are pushing the engine in others ways i am sure.
@silversix_ Hi, I think developers are still using old gen techniques to produce assets for games, I've seen some pretty crazy good shit with UE4 from people experimenting with a actual current gen producing methods. Let's hope developers learn that fast.
@scorpioisrising and yet another opinion on the Star Citizen bandwagon. Sure, it's going to be a great game. However, injecting my two cents, what they showed of Eve:VR looks fantastic. I've watched the Star Citizen videos of their dog fights and, to be very honest, they don't look near as good as what Eve:VR is bringing to the table. Now, sure, Eve might be quite linear which is fine. Not every game has to be a sandbox to play in. Freespace was linear and was a blast. Also, you pointed out that Star Citizen is single player, that is only partially true. If you've been checking it out then you'll know it is also like Eve in that it opens up to multiplayer-MMO type gameplay. Also, Star Citizen very really copied Eve's "one world, one big a$$ server" for everyone to play on. While I'm sure the Star Citizen universe will probably be multiple servers, Star Citizen is taking a weird approach to their game with the whole "battle instances" scenario. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm stoked for SC, but after seeing this video of Eve:VR, I'm very much stoked on this as well. It's not often people put a lot of love into space sims of any sort and when we get one we need to fully appreciate the work that's gone into it by supporting the devs and buying the game. Starting an opinon war and jumping onto individual bandwagons is stupid. They're two separate games with two very different scenarios. The intelligent man/woman will invest in both and enjoy them both for what they are, not invest in a hype wagon to show your love for another product. It's like the console wars. Blah, blah, blah and all that. Anyway, that and $1.00 will buy you a cup of coffee at DD.
@AtomicSlugs Valkyrie is fun if you care only about multiplayer
