@hystavio yeah they have a collection of a certain amount of volumes in a big hardback. i think theres 4 volumes for every uuuhhh... i guess 5 or 6 paperbacks. i would have gotten those if i didnt have so many of the paperbacks already haha. I try not to watch talking dead, I like that the actors are on the show and they talk about the episode and ideas about what happens next but i cant stand the host, he completely ruins it for me. If you look for the comics on amazon.com you should be able to find them relatively cheaper then retail stores. Amazon has great deals. And I completely agree about the story really taking off now in the show, it was getting a little drawn out at hershels.
@sensesfail99 Yes I liked the finale, and seeing the prison it made me feel like the story is really going to take off now, and it's exactly what I wanted, to see how some other group has built up a fortification. That new character is definitely more comic book like, kinda like a superhero style rather than a real life looking character. I know the basics of who she is because they mentioned her name in AMC chat and on Talking Dead so I looked it up a little, couldn't resist. I took a look at the first 2 issues of the comic, seems interesting but I'm not sure I can really read a comic nowadays, if I can find it cheap I might buy the volumes, paperbacks of an entire year or whatever is out there.
@hystavito Did you enjoy the Season 2 finale? :) i was so excited when i saw the "mysterious new character"(i know who it is haha) and the prison. the new character is dead on from the comic and the prison so far looks the same. I think you will enjoy the comics but if you get turned off by all the drama in a few volumes, just try and get past it because it gets really good later on, especially in the prison and after... i cant say too much without spoiling anything haha.
@sensesfail99 Yeah the spoiler alert was for other people :) Actually you make a good point and I came to the same realization after watching the season finale, I can just start reading the comic up to a certain point that isn't past the show. I actually haven't read comics since I was a kid, and I pretty much never read fiction, but I think I will check it out since the show has made me very interested.
@hystavito you do have a point. but atleast read the first comic paperback. it covers the first season of the show pretty much. you might even be safe reading the 2nd vol. as well. I dont know if your a comic reader or not but i love the comics being black and white. it adds a dark tone to it. theres just something about the tv show that doesnt seem so dark. you havent spoiled anything i know about the governer.. and he is DEFINITLY a key plot point that needs to be in the show. I wish i could tell you what happens but i dont want to spoil anything since you dont want to read the comics. I think the comics and the tv shows storys are only slighty similar, they have changed the shows events and deaths and plot points so drastically it doesnt even seem like the same thing. So i guess only time would tell if the show stays closer to the books or farther away into its own thing. So it wouldnt really be spoiling the show in my opinion but i understand your view.
@sensesfail99 POSSIBLE SPOILERS :) I have avoided the comics on purpose after I started watching the show because even though they don't follow the exact story, it does spoil major points. Example, I'll try not to spoil and speak generically, the main "villain" on TV so far, I knew he wasn't going to be the main villain later because when I researched the comics I heard about the governor, and then I saw an article about what actor they had already cast to play the governor. It feels like the comics spoil the show more than the reverse, so I'd rather watch the show first and even though it might spoil the main overall story, I can still enjoy the smaller details and subplots in the comic. Do you agree?
anyone who doesnt know what the walking dead is but has heard of the show.... dont watch the show... read the comics first!!!!! The comics are WAY better then the tv show, dont get me wrong, the show is alright, but when you read the books and see all the awesome plot points that arent in the show you will be kinda pissed like me that they didnt include those key plot points in the show. Like some characters shouldnt be dead in the show yet. I just have doubts about the future of the tv show because of my favorite parts will be ruined from the story. but i can only hope that they stay true to the original story of the comic in this game( yes i know its different characters, but they say you cross paths with people from the comics..i.e. Andrea, Hershel, Glen).
So, You get to decide where the story goes by your decisions, that will have a massive effect on plot, other people, and even your charactor. Kinda like "Mass Effect" but not in the future with Cyborg monsters. Sure, Whatever. I'm Game!!
I gotta say guys, at first, I was really skeptical. I mean, most of the developer's history points to a list of "family-oriented" games. But then, it reminded me, that for all its gruesome and brutal and ruthless aspects, TWD (the books & the show) IS family-oriented, if nothin else. Plus seeing how the developers seem to really love Mr. Kirkman's works, I'm beginning to think that this could actually turn out well. At least, I hope so. And the comic-book-inspired monthly episodes (watch the 1st interview) kinda appealed to me as well. It's like we have a new ongoing TWD spin-off book series and we're gonna get a new "issue" every month. I like that. I hope they put co-op in (even a simple one), to give the game even higher value and longer replayability. Imagine playin out each new suspenseful "issue" with your friends. Cool.
I have red the comic books, and watched the TV show. If this is going to be half as good, as them, - and it looks like it will be - then it is worth playing.
I love the Walking Dead comics and the TV-show is okay but no where near as good, so if they don't stuff up the story this game should be pretty good. I hope....
Love Walking Dead the Show. Have not read the graphic novels. I also had a great time with Telltale's Wallace and Grommet Adventures. I have high hopes that with the right team, this could be a great game.
Ah yes Telltale Games, the company that ruined the Back To The Future and Jurassic Park licenses with terrible games. Awesome!
