E3 2014: The Order 1886 Stage Demo
Danny shows off some new gameplay for The Order: 1886 at our E3 2014 Stage show.
I was a little concerned the big guy was going to rage out with the controller difficulties.
The visuals of this game are stunning and so far the gameplay looks perfectly acceptable. The unique time period and setting make it a game I'm very much looking forward to.
If it's a solid story in the single player, then I'm well on board. Games like Last of Us, Heavy Rain etc are too few and far between for my personal taste. Too many open world games get so obsessed with cramming so much in the story and characters end up making no sense or having no point.
Why is everyone still having a hard on for Open World games. I would rather have a good story for a change and go trough it
So it will be a giant cutscene with sporadic gameplay thrown in every couple of hours...If its as linear as ryse was ill pass.
Gears of Order 1886.
Looks like a pretty good game and I know I'll get it, but let's not be coy here.. and call a spade a spade.
Im skeptical about this game. Looks beautiful but all the stopping and starting looks like it takes the fun and fluidity away from the action. We will see.
The game looks gorgeous. I am a little dubious about the "Sony effect" in that most games they release as exclusives are more cut scene than game. Where mashing a button is put in and takes no skill.
Metal Gear Solid these days in a movie with little bits of gameplay at random times.
the game does look awesome, also love the fact that is third person. the camera seems to sit at the right spot one needs (if it isnt scripted for this particular scene thats it) .
also love the setting, it kinda reminds me to Dishonored so I feel really curious and eager to know more about this world in witch the game will take place :D
They're not showing the best parts of the game, maybe? Or this is one of those games that are hard to demonstrate in short sessions? I haven't seen any impressive gameplay, except that one bit where the player character shoots at enemies while dragging a comrade to safety; it's not impressive but more fitting somehow. If this is all about experiencing London and maybe characters, then the devs shouldn't be shy about advertising that front and center. If it's a cinematic experience with interactivity, I want to see that.
I feel like the devs hint at it but then are shy about it so they showed a trailer that was supposed to convey a moody, almost horror setting but not really and then some gameplay where one devs goes on to talk about Thermite but I see environment destruction that doesn't even come close to what I saw in BF: Hardline or R6: Siege. Then end result is I still don't know what is great about this game.
lol i like the comments, everyone is like: wow this game looks pretty go.. WOW THAT GUYS EFFIN HUGE! lol
Seems very linear an filled with QTE but ill definitely get it. These guys put a lot of effort on the visuals, hopefully it has a good story to make y purchase worth it even more.
I feel like 1 year after this is released it will be on PS+ for free. Shame. Too many cutscenes for my taste. It should have been open world like Red Dead Redemption.
I'm glad they showed more this E3 - it's renewed some excitement in this game for me. It looks good again
Looks amazing. I'm fine with THE ORDER being linear -- no problem whatsoever if the game is fun to play and has a good story.
This game is sounding more and more like a rental. I think for the future, games are going to need a new pricing model. This game looks worth $40 but no more.
@WolfgarTheQuiet I like that I can choose what to do. The story, if well made, doesn't really have to suffer.
@strothers101 Ryse like many other games that were planned for the console release served as Tech Demos for the new consoles, The Order 1866 was planned for release but got delayed couple of times. So, don't expect something great from this game besides graphics and action!
@OhSnapitz I see nothing that reminds me of GoW!
@donjuancorleone Why does it always have to be all action orientated
@donjuancorleone guess you're not a fan of metal gear lol
@Metallicwolf29 Hahaha thats funny, not. Its cool we will buy it, you dont have to ;D
To bad no one can see your game tastes. Or any posts on the site haha.
@BilkeLegenda For a moment when he talked about showing off PS4's capability I also thought the same thing.
@tommynj Well, not many E3 gameplay showings are electrifying gameplay-wise... that only gets understood with more extensive gameplay sessions and reviews.
All honesty. I have yet to play a game that has been worth 60 bucks. Can anyone who payed retail price for a game say that they got their money's worth? Go ahead I'll wait
@GLOBALv You can't be serious. What about this game says "rental?"
@battlefront1943 @GLOBALv Linear and story driven. Don't get me wrong, the game looks and sounds sick. But to just give me a story and ask me to pay $60 for it is too much.
@GLOBALv @battlefront1943 IMHO, the best stories are often in the most linear games (UNCHARTED series, GOD OF WAR series, etc.). I'm blown away by this game. Think many have unfairly bashed it on just a few minutes of a decidedly story-driven experience.
I've liked all of READY AT DAWN's games to date, so I'm probably willing to take a bit of this game on faith.
@GLOBALv I can see what you're saying; not that it's a bad game, just that there isn't really more to get out of it after one playthrough.
@battlefront1943 @GLOBALv Nah, I'm not bashing it. I've been around the block for a long time in this industry. And with some of the capabilities of other games and the technical advances that have taken place; to give me a one time 12 hour playthrough for $60 can't be justified anymore. Sorry for brining up GTA here, but that game could have easily been 2 games.
@GLOBALv @battlefront1943 I understand. No worries. I was just wondering originally why you felt this was a rental and not a purchase. That was all. I've seen many bashing this game hard, but wasn't meaning you.
Understood your point too. I love story-driven and even linear plots, but a short game is an issue that I hate as well. 100%
Also, I do wish READY AT DAWN had a way of adding social functionality to THE ORDER. With no co-op or MP the core game better be memorable.
