E3 2014: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Stage Demo
Shaun welcomes Hideo Kojima to the stage at e3 2014 to show off some Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Don't know if the guys at gamespot read this but if you could add subtitles in English to what Kojima us saying it would be awesome. Don't get me wrong the translator is doing a great job but I'm speaking as a fan of the series who speaks Japanese and I assume other crazy lunatic fans such as myself would love to know Kojima's exact words as they happen lol
For the love of god , will you fix your eyebrow already? It's driving me insane it's like you don't even look in the mirror...
Great interview. Phantom Pain is one of the few games coming that will actually live up to the hype. I'm definitely looking forward to playing this.
No idea how that translator remembers so much. I probably couldn't even relay two sentences back without getting lost.
I can't wait for this game, Metal Gear Solid is one of my top 3 favourite franchises, along with Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect, story-wise. Gameplay-wise it is easily in the top 10, I just don't know how to place it when comparing simplicity and complexity of other games. This trailer doesn't imply too much otherwise, but from what I saw from playing Ground Zeroes, the game took a sharp turn into a dark(er) place. It is all very interesting, however, I do not see the game ending in a satisfying tone if the game is as negative throughout. I guess that won't turn out to be the case as MGS Ground Zeroes wasn't meant to be more than a trailer. Whatever the case, I have faith that this game will be one to remember, and will be an awesome addition to the series. Again, can't wait to play it.(I kinda hope the shrapnel won't be stuck to his head throughout the whole game, it's kind of bugging me, haha)
This is an interview not a stage demo. It should be called a stage demo if you actually play the game there, Gamespot.
It would have been nice if a release date question had been asked or a question that would inhibit a response from Kojima we haven't heard before.
Shaun, I read your "Assembling a Metal Gear Solid Frankenstein" before so I know you understand this franchise really well. Your questions about MGSV are pretty decent but I think these questions don't quite fit in a stage demo. We are more interested in how the game will look like or the difference compare to other games of the franchise even to Ground Zero. I understand Peter Brown already shared us a lot of info but there are still plenty things unclear which gamers are more interested in at this time. You could save the theme question during a full scale interview after the game release which I honestly think it will be great if the interview is taken by you.
I feel so uncomfortable with the fact that he does not speak English. Everyone can learn english with video games.
When I saw that there was a stage demo planned for MGS5 , I was thinking if Kojima will really come...
Kojima...I just love you...thx g-spot its all i was waiting for at E3 this year and you did an AWESOME JOB!!!!!!
Yet another video on GameSpot E3 labeled as "stage demo" when it's clearly just an interview.
GameSpot, I call bullshit.
You did this last E3 as well.
Not sure how this is a demo in any sense of the word but still, interesting none the less. It was also kinda nice to see that group of people standing intently during this segment. That stage area looked smaller than I expected, however.
@HonorOfGod Depends on which game you played first from the series.
@HonorOfGod Yes. Its so boring and uninteresting that I decided to watch a 20 minute video of it only to post a comment about it. Thank you for saving us all form this mundane franchise.
@Aspire85 he is not a gamer, just translator .
It definitely will continue to grow dark. When big boss finally has his outer heaven set up he is a bad guy. So this game will show his "decent into madness" so to say
@79stepside >implies GameSpot would ask anything like that
@euphoric666 It's harder than what you may think for someone who's Japanese. To learn English when you're Japanese is very much like learning Japanese when you're English.
@euphoric666 im sure he understands english he just doesnt want to speak em for whatever reason
@euphoric666 That's why I think it's better to play MGS in Japanese. I finally played MGS 1 to 3 in Japanese on my Vita this year, and found the original is much much better written than the English translation.
@euphoric666 or you could learn Japanese.
@b0sse It's not their fault. I mean the devs come to Gamespot's stage to showcase their game, but since 2012 some devs come at E3 with just trailers and bullshit. Pathetic IMO!
@LeighFF I agree, I lost the question in my head at a few spots when he was translating it for Hideo. I honestly thought he'd be changing stuff around, especially when he was translating back to English for Shaun. Hideo didn't go easy on the guy.
@LeighFF Well he IS a interpreter afterall - he kinda HAS to have a good memory, otherwise he'd wouldn't be able to get any work. XD
@CallMeDuraSouka Ah, 'nuff said...
