Lol, the people complaining about the 'Fulton Recovery System' are obviously not true MGS fans, and have just jumped on the bandwagon because of the E3 reveal trailer. Seriously, this game was made for the fans, and should be kept like that.
Just stick to your Call of Dutys, Gears of War etc... It's clearly not for you.
At this point in the MGS timeline, Big Boss and Kaz are still making an army, hence why they are sending soldiers and items to Mother Base.. to build a bigger base for themselves.
Go back to the beginning play ALL the MGS games INCLUDING PEACE WALKER. Then come back to this game.
Looks pretty good but I'm a little disappointed in the presentation (angular geometry, low tessellation on ground). Hopefully Konami will address a few of the inconsistencies before release.
It does look fun though.. definite purchase.
So, if the mother base is attacked while you are not there, that idroid thing is going to alert you; and if you build up your base with the right people and machines and such, you should be okay, even if you are not there. In the demo, he left while the base was being attacked; I was hoping to see some action of the attack while you are there.
Aside from that though, I am liking what I am seeing; this looks like it is going to be really engaging, and require a bit of patience regularly (which is not quite my strong point, so this will be an extra challenge for me).
Random note: I don't get why the men you have taken back to your base all the sudden become loyal to you, or how no one hears the guys do that little 'yelp' when they get jerked up into the sky like that..... but it is a game after all - ain't that serious, just a little amusing :)
This game looks like so much fun. It's a shame gaming is plagued with a bunch of children that will deny a great experience because of the way a game looks.
yep graphics have been downgraded, try comparing ithe ntro part with the original e3 2013 trailer, difference is quite obvious, didnt expect this from kojima
Looks really good except for the terrible pop in and the way he collected those diamonds, why not just walk over 'em like with anything else? you obviously want them or you wouldn't go over to them.
I don't really care for the 'collecting of ai guys' either, I preferred it when it was just collecting dog tags =P
Love that the cardboard box is back, classic metal gear.
It's pretty... but that pop-in of grass and other details tho.. I hope that will be optimized by launch because it was pretty rough.
Wtf is with these balloons ? Really? Sending unconscious enemy in the sky with ballon?! Gimme a break
The only developer who shows off game play as awesome as this that isn't a "vertical slice". I truly believe we will be able to do everything this video has shown off and I can't freaking wait!
If ps4 can run this at 1080p 60fps. It can run anything at that.This just proves that Ubisoft was lazy with Watch Dogs. As always, Kojima and his team do sh^t right.
The developers need to just utilize it correctly.
By God this trailer has done it, I have officially been led to believe that this is......THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME, this will be a game where the hype will actually live up to my standards my GOD looks amazing, Praise Kojima fantastic director and the hard working staff at Kojima productions
Sadly missing the true voice of Snake. This imposter makes it a different game. Bring back David Hayter!
The only thing I'm not sure I liked was the C&C woman's voice, repeating things over and over. (reminded me of "WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO FLY?")
Other than that the game is as crazy as ever, not serious at all.
the more i see about this game the less impressive the graphics are looking. sure its open world but most of it seems like barren wasteland. this whole balloon recruiting thing kind of ruins immersion for me. now im gonna be worried about getting as many things back to mother base with the damn balloon instead of stealth killing my way through a base.
i like to play assassin style like stealth killing each enemy 1 by 1 but now im not going to do that because you need to keep them alive to recruit and upgrade stuff. i mean i know its optional or whatever but i regularly play rpgs and i like to get as full of an experience from the game as possible, and i feel like i might miss out on something if i don't upgrade to the max.
this is the problem with putting lots of these rpg elements in a non-rpg game, it kinda screws with other parts of the game. this reminds me of AC:revelations when you have to upgrade your assassins guild and constantly defend against attacks, it was the worst part of the game for me. I'm hoping this doesn't end up the same way.
meh... the more and more i see and find out about the game, the more i get disappointed, which i thought would never happen with mgs and kojima, oh well...
at least i think the story will be awesome... and maybe the best in the series
lookin really fun! good to see that the MGS spirit is still alive in these games, i can't wait to see this story unfold! i hope that CQC is as deep as it looks, and two thumbs up for goat recovery system XD
The first scene sounds like it is from some crappy WRPG/FPS with a silent protagonist. Weird how Kojima hired a sort of big name Hollywood actor and he doesn't have much lines. Or maybe Kiefer is charging a lot of money.
@dubbmented I don't like the idea of ballooning every enemy. I would much rather dispatch them in a different manner. I hope this Fulton thing doesn't heavily impact gameplay.
I consider myself a true fan of the MGS series, being a true fan doesn't mean you have to like every single thing. In which I did not care for the Fulton recovery system in peace walker nor this.
@leimonides If its like Peace Walker, the enemy soldiers will spend time in the Diamond Dog Dungeon until they're persuaded to join.
@cynicritic Since when did RDR have a base building mechanic, vehicles to drive, the ability to recruit people into your organization, and stealth?

@sanidada What did you expect? The E3 2013 trailer was running on a high end PC, no way they could squeeze enough power out of the current gen consoles to run it as good as it did back then.

@idunnodude You really should not be stealth killing anyway; you will get a horrible score, and with how many there will be, you will likely get caught trying to do so. Then again, we play how we want. Also, I would not worry about using the balloon all the time. Not only will you need a certain amount of currency each time it is used, but there is probably a lot of depth and you will know how many people you need and what is not worth delivering to the base.
@idunnodude I'm pretty sure someone mentioned having to defend your base and I was thinking oh no I hope it doesn't become an annoyance :).
@acer86 Its a natural evolution of MGS and stealth genre, idk why people are so worried. Its still a MGS game by heart, TPP is an amalgamation of all best things in MGS. MGS3 core gameplay+MGS 3 exploration+MGS 4 control+MGS PW motherbase building.
@taker254isback I just don't see why they needed to get rid of Hayter. I also think the argument of "Well, Big Boss isn't Hayter, Hayter is Solid Snake" is a dumb argument. I just hope they use Keifer more, otherwise it was pointless.

@-s3r6i0- @dubbmented It is a bit silly, but its going to make recruiting soldiers so much easier and keep the game flowing. You really notice how long it takes to chopper extract everyone in Ground Zeroes. It may have been better if they used the 'kidnapper' drones, but ill take this hit to immersion if it means i don't have to piggy-back everyone i want to extract to the chopper.
p.s. another way could of been calling in an extraction team to pick up unconscious enemies and drag them back to their chopper whilst you continue the mission, but i can imagine that having its own problems too.

By your definition, COD Black Ops II is pretty much the same as RDR. It also had horses, guns, and humans.
I've played all games in the series more time than i can remember, and you don't even know why i don't like this game, cause i never wrote it, you're just assuming all of it based on whatever.
oh, and fyi
complex CQC moves by mashing one button, yeah, really complex in GZ and TPP, compared to MGS3, where you actually had to learn how each move is done
oh and don't get me started on the vegetation and wildlife in MGS3, of which there is maybe 3% in what i saw so far in both GZ and TPP,
Peace Walker has the worst gameplay in the series, and if you knew anything, you'd know why it had mother base management and recruiting
so who's in denial here?

1. MGS 3 - Complex CQC moves, places to explore,wild life, Interrogate enemies to find more secrets.
2. MGS4 - Control system, Play or at least watch GZ.
3. Peace Walker - Mother base building :Recruiting soldiers and assigning them to different depts.
