E3 2014: Impressive PC Games of E3
GameSpot editors sound off on a few standout PC games of E3 2014. Don't let the console heavy show fool you, there are still plenty of new PC games on display.

Hehe. Second and third game pretty much got described as "Meh... free to play i guess", Not sure that should put them on a "most impressive" list. Some of the others look interesting though, happy to see Petroglyph still exists
@Kevin-V Where did you get that shirt? It looks awesome!
NO good games for PC this E3 years...where is Sunset Overdrive, everythink is so shity, I need some new Hack and slash games!!!! GIVE ME HACK AND SLASH!!!!!! I dont need RPG, FPS, Strategy, Sims :((( Give us Bayonetta!!!!
Not impressed, other than Elite Dangerous. And where is Star Citizen? Did they skip E3? The Sims is focusing on players with under-performing PCs and laptops, so they have compromised on how advanced the series can be, so I am not impressed there either.
haha, Danny is the best. This video seemed a little too serious until his description about battle mage.
Lichdom Battlemage is a title I hadn't heard of. I like playing a mage but most games just give you the same common spells when you level up. This game appears to give you a blank slate to craft your own. While there may be some balance challenges I like the concept of being a different spellcaster with every build. It's early access on Steam so I added it to my wishlist to keep an eye on their progress.
may try to upgrade to play evolve and the mage game, will stick to ps4 for multi-plats though...god i hate nvidia optimus...
What about star citizen. I don't know if it was at e3 but I think its one of the best upcoming pc games.
I kind of liked this video (for some of these games), mainly because it reminds me of how PC gaming used to be in regards to consoles, higher resolution, but since most PCs back then and even now, weren't capable of pushing polygons at all (most do it slowly now, but millions have good gpus, even integrated) so the games looked great, but they were just a different kind of game in a different mode than consoles. Microsoft better than anyone should know that controllers (their own) and integrated Intel and AMD gpus are good enough to push real gaming for the "mainstream" going forward, but like has happened with assumed hardware in phone and tablet games. PC games don't have to be this minimal anymore.
Anything above 60fps is BS. And not locial... Even when my PC can do more, I prefer locking at 60fps... gives it more of a cinema felling at 30 and 60...
But hey, that's just me...
Why the fuck does everyone think sniper elite is a good game? It's a one trick pony where you play through linear levels and get to witness the same xray sniper executions. Over, and over, and OVER AGAIN! Fuck! And people complain about cod...
Really only Elite looks interesting here for me. F2P (or actually P2W) on PC, please no. Let's hope the Indie scene keeps on delivering.
I thought the title was "Impressive PC Games" This display is pitiful and really does not show off the capacity of what PC games can and should be like.
@porcupine-fur I didn't but it was for different reasons, I didn't like the repetition of it all. Every level starts with you picking up the phone you then go to some building and slaughter hundreds of men, go to some shop to pick up some cash or whatever only to go back to your apartment and pick the phone up again.
That is the exact reason why most Indie games don't appeal to me, you just feel like you are repeating yourself over and over for the entire game.
Uh, you just have a different taste in games. Sunset Overdrive doesn't look that great to me and hack n slash games have to be very good for me to enjoy them.
Lots of great games coming to the PC.
@cireking213 Gamespot done a video with Star Citizen, have a look on the website.
It's actually coming to PC first and PS4 later.
@billzihang I think all exclusives objectively suck because they cut gamers off from decent titles because they don't want to waste money on hardware they don't need.
@billzihang It's not because they don't like them, it's because they can't play PC games and so claim not to like anything that PC has to offer.
@CaptainBerserk Considering a huge part of the games that were announced as the BIG TITLES during the consoles show off, will run much better on PC anyway, and that many of these PC exclusives are actually game genres that can't be played or don't work on consoles at all, and PC has and runs all the genres in gaming appart from ridiculous stuff like kinect games, I'd say PC is doing great ;)
Enjoy a distant second best on PS4 as far as multiplatform games go.
@lostn Battlecry. Free 2 play game from Bethesda.
Agreed, I havent played many space sims but its nice to see some rejuvination of the genre.
@TheExxorcist There's nothing new about high frames rate. I used to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein at 120 fps on my old CRT monitor. I used to get headaches with anything refreshing at less than 70Hz.
30 frames a second is eye wateringly bad for gaming, especially in multiplayer where a low frame rate reduces reaction time. The only reason anyone gets away with it today is because LED/Plasma TV's refresh in a different way to CRT. 60 is acceptable but more is better by far, there's a reason that vsync can cause screen tearing.
Don't make excuses for bad hardware and programming.
@tim1935 Elite F2P? It's not f2p if you didn't know. Right now it's the spectral opposite ($150 for beta) then i think it drops to $35 at release.
@Alexrmf Something tells me you don't have a pc...
@mxgod Elite worked for me, very impressed with that one.
@Poodger Mmm, this GTA5 pie is so delicious, want some?
@Dannystaples14 I agree, they fell short on innovation, well most of them in any case. But it seems people actually liked this game because of the gameplay that is simple yet full of gore and violence.
@Damazig Yeah but, that's not the point, i'm still utterly uninpressed with this games considering the potential of PCs.
If you get headaches at anything less than 70hz. .. you need to go to the doctor... what happens when you watch a Bluray in 24fps. .. ??? Should I call med-evac...?
That's the lamest excuse I've ever heard.. it's not bad coding or hardware... 60fps Is perfectly fine
@TheExxorcist He said he used to get headaches with anything less than 70hz on a CRT. If you haven't used a CRT as your PC monitor then you probably don't know about the extreme flicker at refresh rates like 60 or 70hz. They gave me a headache back in the day too. It didn't even matter what fps the content itself was running at, if the display wasn't above 85hz it was painful on the eyes after a while. Today though, people with 120-144hz LCDs and hardware to run fast paced FPS games at those speeds would tell you 60fps is not perfectly fine. It does make a difference, but a one that most non-competitive fps gamers don't really care about. It makes a difference even in Windows with the way the UI and cursor responds and is drawn. It's very surprising when you first jump to 120hz from 60. It's just as noticeable as 60 is to 30.
@imperious_stout I never saw a game running at 120hz. To play lastest games on 60 fps its too expensive for me. I can`t imagine buy anything to run at 120hz. :(
