Too hard live blogging? Here's a tip: stop live blogging. It's so easy to live stream the whole thing live these days, live blogging is obsolete.

Also, I'm all for Smart Glass, as I think this kinda grass roots development and integration is what the future is made of. Of course it seems like you won't use it now, but put yourself in the future: wouldn't you want to have all your entertainment seamlessly integrated wherever you go? One day it's going to be sweet.

I'm going to say this about Microsoft's conference: It was great as an entertainment system. All the new added features to the 360 was awesome, BUT.........as a game console, it was really underwhelming. Other than Splinter Cell blacklist (which shows that its multiplatform) there is nothing that wowed me and nothing to look forward to....maybe forza horizon but its not a game for everyone

Once again Halo saves Microsoft's butts. When people say that te original Xbox would have never made it if it weren't for Halo, this is a prime example. MAYBE a couple other highlights, but mainly it was bad. Especially RE6, it really looked like crap. Hopefully because the little man playing it was just that bad. Final grade with Halo 4: C+. Final grade without it, D-

Microsoft had the worst conference I've seen in years. It was totally forgettable. And the Resident Evil 6 trailer looked like an awful Michael Bay movie.

After seeing the conference after this breakdown it's probably best for me to just not come to gamespot again for any helpful analysis. I agree with several of their issues with the announcements they covered. But they glossed over so much. Hell, they didn't even mention several announcements! To be dismissive because you don't find something to be of quality, I hear ya. To crap on a new announcement because you won't use and giving no information about anything this new feature is supposed to do, that's fairly shitty journalism.

Watching all the press conferences over the years makes me happy for one thing. I don't play their press conferences in my home. I use their systems. This breakdown didn't connect the two in any useful sense. The ending of the video was just a sad exclamation point that convinces me to just go elsewhere.

It was a wreck. Consider the arcade titles they had, only one had any game footage and the other two were cinematic trailers. The best thing was Halo 4, because it was the only thing really.

Have to agree that apart from Halo 4 and Forza Horizons the Microsoft press conference was very forgettable.  It felt very unfocused to the point where MS seemed to be saying hey here are a bunch of cool things lets try to implement them into the Xbox 360 without adding anything positive to the gaming experience.  But it could reflect the position within the company where the focused has primarily shifted to the next Xbox, and this is just the transition year with only one or two first party games left.

Well I agree that MS has lost their way.  They keep resting on the Fable and Halo franchises without enough push for new IP's. It doesn't come as a surprise, they have been heading down this path ever since they decided to push into the casual gamer market with Kinect and the "entertainment hub".  MS wants to increase the size of their potential market by being all things to all people.  Pretty tough to pull that off.  I also didn't hate the smart glass thing since I see it as just keeping up with the Wii U and the PS Vita integration with the PS3.  At least they aren't trying to get me to buy another device/peripheral but as Brendan said, it's not something I'll probably ever use.

I'm not saying the Resident Evil 6 demo was good but I fail to see how it was any worse than any of the other demos, virtually every game at every conference so far has just been cover shooters and QTEs

Speaking the truth about MS. Well it's about time. And When has MS ever be innovative? Never. Anything they make other companies paved the way for them. They're nothing but a Me Too company. Xbox? Nintendo, Sega and Sony paved the way. Zune? Apple paved the way. And there we plenty of Operating Systems before Windows. I see MS's role diminishing in the next 10 years now that IOS and Android are taking over.

So glad they agree, lame conference, Microsoft is clearly out of ideas.  Also loved the ending to the video and not cutting til much later than expected!  Hilarious.

Tom is right, Halo 4 visuals borrowed a lot from Metroid Prime, which is a good thing. Also, seems that Forza didn't left an impression with those guys but I thought it was the high point of the presentation. Unfortunately, I agree with everything else they said. It was a rather weak press conference.

@victorv71 i think they talked about what was memorable, so if you felt that they glossed over stuff, then they probably thought it wasn't memorable enough

it's not hilarious it's unprofessional... it's fine if you're a blog, but it's not fine if you're one of the biggest gaming websites

@jsmoke03 Fair enough. I believe my issue was more those two. I watched the Sony and Nintendo as well. They had issues with parts of the other conferences. They spent the time to articulate a good critique about what they disliked. The MS group were just dismissive.

I agree that game wise if you wanted more exclusive titles you were really left wanting. Even though I thought Forza looked great but no real mention.  But in my house we do use a ton of the multimedia parts of the 360. They had a TON of announcements about that. If you watched this review you would think there was nothing offered on that front.

It seemed more important to crap all over the conference then to give a insightful critique.
