Also; I really enjoyed the original Silent Hill film. The actors, story, costume design and just the general atmosphere (stage design/back-rounds) they created had such a vivid and haunting immersion. Wish they kept the original director even though Gans didn't really follow the story page by page but I'll def give Bassett a chance since he made two horror films i like (Wilderness & Deathwatch) both which had great scenery and dark atmosphere (blood and gore too!). Although i don't quite believe that he's a gamer foremost, I wasn't born yesterday; the first silent hill did not change the gaming world, i was there, i remember it quite clearly; it had story yes but it wasn't the first game to have a plot although i do agree, it's 'use of sound design and atmosphere" was fairly unique for it's time however; everyone at the time was comparing it to the Resident Evil series. Nice to see him acknowledge that at least and I am definitely looking forward to both game and film. My worry is weighed more toward the game being that it's still out of Japanese hands and i haven't played a decent Silent hill game since "The Room" (Silent Hill 4).
I just downloaded the original Silent Hill (Playstation 1) on my ps3 for my girlfriend to experience; it's not an HD remake like the recent package release but the PS3 allows you to use a "Smoothing" feature under "Other Settings" when you press the PS3 menu button at any time during a PS1 or PS2 game and it also allows for quicker load times and a widescreen display so at least i get to play a smoother, faster, panoramic version of the original Silent Hill. For $6 bucks is a steal especially for those who like a bit of nostalgic fear. I also wish they had included the original game on that HD package but if you download it form the PSN and set it up the way i suggested you'll still piss yourself if you play it in the dark.
Oh man! i'm soooo excited for this game to come out! Silent Hill is the best horror franchise out there! along with Resident Evil. but i would definately say SH comes first!
The fact that the director is a fan of the games is rather encouraging. Maybe he'll stick closer to the games' storyline than Gans did. Also, I'd rather they made a new HD version of Silent Hill part 1.
As a proper silent hill game....no, as a potentially promising survival horror game past the name, I say yes :)
Why is that public school Brit lead story writer so full of BS. When he says, "I'm a gamer first and foremost" -- get a life, and "SH3 already had a great story line" -- that's just a blatant lie and he knows it.
Here we go.. Another SH game that looks like a typical cliché Americanized horror movie effort. The last one was total junk.
Murphy looks a bit like Henry Townshend from SH4. Konami need to start creating some original looking characters for these games but despite that, it does look pretty damn great and I can't wait to play it!!
I agree with what @tsodoviosTM is saying. But I''ve got a good feeling on this one, and I hope -pray- it'll be back on form. Long shot? lol
Make haste and release this game please Konami. I just got cold bumps from looking @ the trailer. Silent Hill is the scariest video game ever to date.
Looks like Alan Wake mixed with Resident Evil action & environment. It's a pity they follow the mainstream "horror" game rather than staying true to its root.
