Dungeon Siege III Video Preview
Dungeon Siege III adds a significant story element to the classic formula, courtesy of Obsidian Entertainment.
@TheTrueMagusX1 Publisher won't publish something they aren't satisfied with and can ask to change things they don't like and as such are also part of the game making. They don't directly help developing the game but it doesn't mean they aren't part of gaming making at all.
Crappy storyline, sub par game play, $hitty camera, poor game mechanics. This game and Duke Nukem should both be used as a new type of digital torture in Guantanamo Bay for terrorists and enemy's of the state. How dare you release this crap Square Enix, and call it a game. If I ever meet you developers in the street I will give you are beating. (Yes, Its that bad).
@supertom221 Thanks to the "portability"... I played the demo and didn't see anything related to Dungeon Siege franchise. It looks very, very shallow, obviously a game made to play on bed with gamepads when you are half-asleep, it's not a serious RPG, like dungeon siege used to be. They turned a deep rpg story into a mindless hack and slash action rpg, it's a shame. I'm having a bad feeling about Diablo 3 though...
JUst played the game. HORRIBLE. First Fable 3, now this Crap. The Camera is GODAWFULL!!! Can't see dung!!. The Graphics are Dated and lousy!. You have to choose out of 4 characters instead of making one like in DS2. Little to NO customization. Boring scenery, Bland story, Bland quests, bland characters. Dialogs are a Dragon Age rip off. This game brings the Franchise to shame. This piece of s*** is not worthy of the name Dungeon Siege. Obsidian, you murderers.
I played the demo today and frankly I wasn't that much impressed. It might be because it is just demo still it didn't provoke the excitement or interest. Will see how the full game turns out. I have to say graphics are cool looking and shiny but graphics alone cant do anything.
@packtop They are publishing it, not making it. Publishing and Developing a game are two different things. Learn about it, its something you should know before you talk about gaming.
@Fallen448822 Only with some the developers. Most developers are actualy charity organizations. I am no condemning anything. However, if millions upon millions of start downloading games that cost tens of millions of dollars to make for free, this is what you get. Plus the thousands of free games that are being developed for smart phones etc. Flouding the world with cr*p gaming.
Consoles again ruin a great franchise. Dumbed down hack and slash. NOT AN RPG!!! Game is an utter failure. Failure in graphic as in gameplay. Avoid at all costs. Wait for torchlight 2! It's one game that won't dissapoint for sure!
Wow Im so glad they dumbed it down for the console crowd /puke......f**k how many games will they have to ruin before they realize that PC gamers want PC exclusives.....oh wait they don't care its all about the money......
Geee!!! I've got 14 thumbs down!! The PC community is so sensitive. I was posting this from the PS3 section. Why GS joins the comments in a single page is something I don't understand. My comment was intended for console gamers and I wanted to see their opinion. Which is clear anyhow: this video has less than 2 pages of comments. Consolers are not interested. Right? Wrong? It doesn't matter. That's the free market, baby!
I own 1 and 2 and was looking forward to 3; no customisation and chars with firearms, reducing gameplay to hook the attention deficit console crowd, get phucked, -1 sale. NEXT
@Jedimg I know this is a multiplatform game, I was checking the PS3 RPGs and I found it... But I didn't say all PC RPGs are bad. It's just that I don't like small chars and fixed camera. Eidos made Lara Croft like that as well and I don't find it as fun as the classics. BTW The Witcher 2 is multiplatform as well. And it looks like a great game. Oblivion was great. Dragon Age less. It's just this and Diablo III. From the trailers I don't like them at all. Anyway, before to speak about superiority you really should play Demon's Souls!! Gamespot GOTY by the way.
the one big feature of rpgs that i adore is character customisation. it's not a deal breaker, but i will miss it.
@slainta You obviously haven't played enough PC RPGs to know how superior they are. There are the typical dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Siege which have their cosy old skool feel, but there are also many other RPGs that look stunning (The Witcher 2 is a recent example). Either way, it's not the visuals that make or break a game for me at least. Another thing I'd like to point out is that this is a multiplatform game, not a PC exclusive.
What's this thing with many RPGs coming from the PC world that have small characters and fixed cameras? I can't stand it. Then they claim PC games are so superior. No, thanks. I'll stick with games like Demon's Souls and its sequel, Dark Souls. Not to mention Final Fantasy. Even XIII is better than this!!
Just to clarify DS3 co-op = jumping into a game with whatever sidekick character the other player has, you dont not bring your own hero and you gain nothing in the end
Repeat of DS2 right here, it's gonna be linear, with limited skills, and poor multiplayer. With an ending that goes just like DS2 to find the ending buy the expansion. yay, oh wait, I hated that. Bring back the customization and multiplayer and single player worlds already!
I've made a comment on this one a while back, when I thought the change on the original DS formulae would be something really harmful, but now, after reading a lot about its changes, watched some more videos e learned how this one will have a lot more story behind it, I'm starting to think I'll enjoy it even more than DS 1 and 2 because I'm a fan of story driven games (the very essence of RPGs for me). But the combat is way too flashy.
seems cool.although i have never played DS i might buy this. But it looks like there is no scenario...
The first dungeon siege didn't require you to tap a button to attack, and was designed to allow you to finish the game with any party size up to 8, including solo if you wanted to. It also allowed you to customize your characters however you wanted, like make 'em hybrid warrior mage. It seems DS has taken that away, while adding a button attack, and more story. Hmm.. doesn't sound like the DS I know.
@Demonblight Well Square-enix is part of making this game after all. Everyone know how Enix focus mostly on story and leave close to nothing when it come to character development
I wasn't sure from the beggining with this game since last 2 game made by Obsidian (Fallout:new vegas and Alpha protocol) was boring and Square-enix... well is far from what they used to be. But with this video my chance of buying this game is really close to 0.I migh change by mind if i see lot of review having a good opinion of this game. But somehow i doubt it will happen.
Very disappointing. In trying to add more back story, they took away some of the best elements of character development which were so enjoyable about the first two games. Yes, I know that the first two were basically just an endless series of side quests, but they were good-looking (for their time) and followed an enjoyable team-based formula. How on earth this will appeal to anyone who can do them same damn thing in any number of current MMORPGs is beyond me.
A game for younger folks who have to ask their parents $ for getting something new. Just like that - about age 15 and younger.
RTS and RPG games belongs on the PC. Thats it! but i will say this, if Sony and MS gives mouse and keyboard support (keyboards are supported but not 'in game'), or even put their own style K&M out with full on mappable keys, then i'd personally kiss my PC's life goodbye! heck with that the PC will become nothing more than a corporate gismo to process worksheets, there is no denying this, so troll if you want! PS: Big fan os DS series, and hope this will be as good if not Better than its predecessors!
Doesn't look very interesting, just a bunch of dark levels with colorful lighting effects. Sorry DS fans.
@_Tactics_ What's with the "PC trolls" bulls*&t thing? Dude if you like more consoles well that's your right but right here many PC gamers are frustrated because now the industry concentrates on consoles! I am too a PC gamer but I'm also a console gamer and sometimes even I get frustrated seeing great PC exclusives not being exclusives anymore or I get frustrated when I see great Xbox 360 exclusives not being exclusives anymore But what I want to say it's that it's their right to be angered because the PC it's taken as a secondary objective in gaming! And because you talked about exclusives: Tell me where else can you play the original Gothic series if not on PC? Or the first Witcher? Or the first 2 Crysis games which were better than the second? But when games are created the tools with which games are created are on PC so if you can see from the PC gamers point of view... Or try to understand that's frustrating that everything it's created on the PC and still it's perfected only on the consoles sometimes but not always!
looks good to me.. I don't see how this game can be bad. Unless it conflicts with Diablo 3... MY PRECIOUS!!!
_Tactics_ It doesn't really cost 1000 dollars to build a pretty awesome PC anymore. I built one for around 600 that plays most games on max settings. Plus, you're getting a fast computer, not just a gaming system. (Of course, the PS3 does have a Blu Ray player, which is an advantage) And I personally think that the gaming industry going from a niche market to a huge industry is a negative thing. Games are generally produced with much less quality now and are made specifically to make money. Look at Call of Duty, for instance. When gaming was a niche market, they were great games. I think I spent more hours on Call of Duty 1 and 2 than I have on any other game. But everything that came after Modern Warfare 1 is just abysmal, to me. They're putting out new ones as fast as they can just to make more money. It's depressing really, because I used to be a HUGE fan of the series. But anyways, I think PC gaming is where it's at. I think both sides of the PC vs. consoles argument are butthurt, really :)
whats with all the PC trolls? whining cause consoles took the wind out of their sails. consoles did not destroy gaming publicity it did the exact opposite, propelling the game industry from a niche market, to a multi billion dollar monster. how many people do you think can afford a thousand dollar gaming PC? Now, game developers can crank out multiple titles per year, making for more games. Graphically PC takes the cake, and always has. and I will agree that console to PC ports are generally abysmal. but i love my xbox, and my ps3. where else can i play amazing games like God of War, Metal Gear Solid or the Halo franchise to name a few. Maybe that doesn't appeal to you PC RPG whores... Also, consoles have a great sense of community, something i think is lacking on PC these days. and yes PC only iterations are few and far between. You PC trolls should pick up the Witcher 2. It is one of the best looking RPGs I have ever seen.
So sick of our pc games getting ported onto pc AFTER consoles. Look at borderlands, oblivion, dragon age..All ports. Imagine if they where made for pc first then ported to stupid consoles.I really hope ds3 is indepth enough for an old school rpg player like myself.. And to reply to you tactics, everyone knows console gamers are a.d.d kids that have no patience for gaming and need everything done right here, right now. Hence why games are getting dumbed down and destroyed, FOR THEM.
As an old school PC gamer (and I mean "OLD"), I can see where a lot of the gripes are coming from... Consoles are where the damn cash is now, so focus is shifting... Crap, it almost completely has. Very seldom are we seeing PC-only ports... even for titles like this that were exclusively PC in the past. Games have to be dumbed-down/manipulated to suit the console crowd/functionality. I hate it, sure... but it is what it is. So, in my supposed, age-earned "wisdom", I'll TRY to be patient and wait for release... and then give my opinion. Meaning, I'll more-or-less buy this game, based on the series. hey, look at it this way... Hopefully it won't be the bug-filled mess that DSII was! Gotta admit, tho... I agree with others: What's up with no mule?!
some of the whiniest most pessimistic comments I've ever seen. great series with great stories and I'm sure this one won't be any different then the others. the loss of character customization stinks but i bet this game is gunna be good
Why are people saying that they killed the Dungeon siege franchise. They seem to forget that the first 2 games weren't that great to begin with. But from the comments here, someone who hasn't played the first 2 would think that they were the pinnacle of human achievement. So far DS3 looks nice, but so did Dragon age 2 so ill reserve my judgement until it's released.
