@Erebus890 I'm sorry if I upset you. But have you played BG2? I don't think you have since you don't see any similarities. Between this new franchise and their older ones. I work from the thesis you haven't played the BG-series and therefore you need my pity. I'm sorry for you but you don't really know what rpgs are

i just thought dragon age 2 was small. da origins seemes huge and this one was just in one city where everything looked the same and they used the same rooms over and over again.

Sadly, I thought DA2 was a bit of a let down, agree some nice flashy moves, but all over too quickly and not really replayable. I have played every bioware game released from the time that they were still making baldurs gate (1,2, throne of baal etc) to starwars kotor (1 and 2) and then onto mass effect 1, 2 all dlcs's etc. and then the later dao1 all sequels and da2 all the addons, utterly pointless why on earth do I want the addon DLC it's not like this is WOW where we get to show off all our fancy armour or something, (Wow addict cured thank god 2 years) DA2 You get all this hype for 4 hours more play. And to answer your question about replayability, there are no other races to play in DA2, no class variation story lines, no variation in spells for mage and no class differentiation between playing a warrior in your party and warrior as your main...at least they should have released a patch to take it back to the old dragon age origins system of being able to equip armour to npcs. Finally can I just say 1. Rogues do not attack from the front 2. I wanna play a grey warden ...fix it.

I just really want to see some demographics on those who truly think DA2 was "a great game" and to know exactly how many BioWare games they've played to know that we should have expected so much more than what we got. I loved the Mass Effects but if that's the starting point of fandom and the first BioWare game you've played well...there's really better MUCH BETTER that came before. I once upon a time BioWare made THE BEST RPG I HAVE EVER PLAYED. They haven't made anything as well since then and the DLC model isn't helping. DLC for what should have been in the game in the first place...still...don't know how much it would have helped. DA2 was an insult to Platform gamers and PC gamers alike: short, sloppy, and more flash than substance.

i hope that in DA3 they add all the good things from origins and DA2 and put them in the mixer.to produce best rpg ever.

mkdewidar

dirtywizard73,DA2 felt like a rush because the combat was faster than in dragon age origins in origins you could kill an ogre in an hour or more, but in DA2 you could finish him off in minutes whitch is good not bad,and in the custimization it removes some of the heat off you so you dont start thinking about all the companions at the same time, and also there items are good not bad.i dont like peope who leave good things and always stick to the bad JUST because they hate a game.

mkdewidar

guys come on DA2 isnt that bad maybe it has some bad things but DAO also has some bad things,so i think that both games are awsome and i also think that DA2 is slightly better than origins, but origins still has its awsomeness it just has some bad things in it that make the combat long.(i think both games are perfect and they both come from perfect companies).

I think DAO is highly overrated to the fans. It's only slightly better than DA2, but you guys think it's a sin for no reason. DA2 improved the customization, combat, and graphics. I didn't like a few characters in Origins, like Sten. I didn't like him at all, nor did I like Morrigan either. In DA2, I didn't like Isabella and Merril. At least in DA2 your character actually talks :|.

I absolutely loved Dragon Age: Origins and the Awakening expansion, and was so pumped up for this game but when it came out i was hugely disappointed. Like others have said it wasn't a terrible game.. unless you played and enjoyed the prequel, in which DA2 felt cheap and rushed with a lack of freedom and customizability. EA wanted Bioware to make a game that appealed to a wider audience, and it's sad that in turn they made a game that disappointed and ignored some of their most die hard fans.

@dirtyfools good point. i, too, expected more. hopefully they won't let us down again. but i've played it 4 times and try to squeeze out some enjoyment. haha

I'm pretty annoyed that they made this DLC in game content instead of post game content. I hate when they do that...

"Is this a prison for rogue grey wardens?" Dude...did you even play the game or watch the trailer? WTF kinda question is that?

Come on....What's happening??? DA2 isn't that good anyway.... I only hope they don't do such things in ME3.

Bhargav_pvs
Bhargav_pvs

I don't think the game has a great look....Every thing in there looks like a previous generation stuff. Hope they don't screw up with ME3.

@poovannaorcbane- Mass Effect team is not the Dragon Age team.

lordshifu

Yeah I agree with poovannaorcbane.... Plz dont screw M3E .. DA2 was too bad... I mean the presenc of a compelling story was completely non-existent.... look at DA it has such a effect of the world falling apart and you trying to piece it together.. Uniting the Kingdoms... motivating them is such terrific part... and where are those elements in DA2 ... NULL!!.... So please dont do the same... I already getting this bad feeling about ME3 for not introducing new characters... except one and keeping the old faces.... although its said ME3 is for developing a stronger bondage but wtf we'll do by having so much bondage with them... I need more richness, more diversity to be introduced..... I think BIOWARE is still focusing on improving the combat system.... but research it in some next big installment. They should concentrate on storyline and bring more crossroads and conflicting elements in the game. And since Miranda, Tali are all dead in my ME2... I'll love to see some new female faces too!!

poovannaorcbane
poovannaorcbane

oh BIOWARE !!!!!! PLEASE DONT SCREW UP MASS EFFECT 3!!! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF.......GAMERS dont!!!!

poovannaorcbane
poovannaorcbane

DA2 improved and fixed all flaws in ORIGINS but its own flaws are terrible!! bland environments and reused levels/dungeons & areas are unacceptable in a world class rpg !!! the good thing about the game is that the combat is VERY RESPONSIVE & enjoyable FOR ME!!! hopefully DA 3 will be on par with ORIGINS!!! COME ON BIOWARE PULL UP UR SOCKS AND GET CRACKING!!! i read somewhere that the reused areas in DA2 was done to reduce time and save money on production costs !!!!

the combat was seriously aweful in DA2.. Doesnt anyone feel that way?? seriously ment for kids with trigger happy fingers

@ isshiah You're right, it's probably not an awful game per se, when looked at in a vacuum. Unfortunately it's not in a vacuum, and we have the rest of Bioware's output to compare it to, and in that light it fails miserably. People have (rightly so) come to expect a lot of Bioware, as their games are usually amazing, which is why when they release a mediocre game it sticks out like a sore thumb. If it were made by a less-competent developer no-one had heard of, we wouldn't be so disappointed with it. But it was made by Bioware, everyone knows they can make WAY better games than this. It feels lazy, and like they just phoned it in.

DLC featuring Hawke , Hawke family, DA II and same silly looking darkspawns all in one...not one of those is appealing to me even slightly, let alone together. No thanks...I'll vote with my wallet which wants DA II to go away forever already..

isshiah

i don't understand the loathing for this game. sure, it had many flaws, but it wasn't the spawn of the devil, in my opinion. i was satisfied, to a degree. that said, i'm still liking the DA lore, so i'll buy this at some point.

Ugh the graphics look SO bland. I think I've been spoiled by The Witcher 2. Now before anyone says "It's about gameplay, not graphics", I mean artistically. I'm not talking about things like texture quality or post-process effects or whatever. The environment shown in that footage was just very drab and plain (Much like the rest of DA2). Hopefully they'll be able to make it a bit more interesting before release (Not that I'll be buying anyway - Got burned with DA 2 being so crappy, no way I'm playing that game again)

Sorry, after they bastardized DA2 I don't plan on buying any further in the series until they return to the original formula of the first. Make RPGs for adults, not ADHD children.

I don't care what anyone says I liked Dragon Age 2, wasn't the best game but it was good. I still wish they would have pushed it back and released it later so they could have worked on it more. In my op what they should do for DA3, whenever that happens, is use the combat and graphics engine from DA2 and use a similar setup from Origins for well everything else, the rich characters, story/quests, weapons and gear, etc. etc. I'm pretty sure people know what I mean.

Charming, an apology for the deficiencies of Dragon Age II, in the form of downloadable content that we have to pay for.

@waiaung well they did the same thing with ME2 they changed the the combat to make it more like a shooter but at the same time ditched most of the rpg elements for ME3 they need to keep the comabt the same but bring back some of the rpg bits from ME1

@kokonut1971 Agree with kokonut looks bland to me aswel

ZarboneD

A shame they made Da:2 catering towards Consoles. They should have just streamlined the context heavy menus, instead of neutering the strategic depth that was in the first game.

waiaung

Hopefully, they will not screw up Mass Effect 3 like they did to DA II...

Bla bla bla. Dragon age 2 is a sh1t game compared to DA:O or Witcher or TES. Why make DLCs to a mediocre game bioware? I for one won't be playing Biowares sh1t again. Bioware take a look at CPR or Bethesda and learn how to do RPGs.

ReconHunter
ReconHunter

Well, they can't really fix the fondamentally flawed and dull gameplay with DLC, can they? I won't be buying anything else of the Dragon Age franchise untill DA becomes a strategy old-school RPG again. Money talks, people. If they see that pandering to the casual gamer hasn't paid off, they won't try to do it again. Buying is voting.

I wouldn't mind some decent dlc for dragon age II but legecy doesn't seem enough of an experence to satify me enough to reinstall dragon age 2 back onto my HDD. I'll wait to see what other dlc becomes aviable...
