Dota 2 is one of the biggest names in PC gaming and eSports, but the learning curve is notoriously steep and unforgiving. Join Dota veteran Zorine as she teaches Ed the ropes from the very beginning.
i keep missing the show.am so catching u guys next week.i thing u guys should mention the dota 2 international just happened and show some videos of pro matches highlights.
DOTA 2 is the craziest most inventive game out there valve is doin the valve thing with it too and creating based on what everyone wants it to be, and holy fu**ing sh** I wanna play these two I got 400 wins on dota since like october and I could seriously rape them so hard
This game looks awesome, I am completely new to it but will certainly be getting it at some point. I was just wondering, is this the only game mode and will there only ever be one map?
You're coming on nicely but I don't think you'll ever be pro lol. You'll probably get to the stage where people just don't moan at you for losing them the game lol... though most pug games end up like that.
As others have already noted, you've definitely improved quite a bit Ed, and I think the move to Shadow Shaman was a good one for you. Keep the videos coming because I'm definitely eating them up.Now I really wish I could join you guys, but then again, I live in U.S. central time zone (3 a.m. based on your schedule). Come to think of it, I'm lacking a gaming rig too. :(
Hey thanks Zorine and Ed..... for featuring my question in the video.... Really kewl :D
Ed, you seem to be really improving. And, Thanks to Dota 2 Diaries, so am I. :D I love using Melee Champions, n in my last couple of games I've been able to farm my gold wit less hasle from the ranged enemy champs. :D U guys rock!!!!
Great improvement ED! Good to see you transferring your skills from Drow to SS. Let's see, maybe a melee hero next time?
You shoud have placed your Serpent wards when attacking Roshan, and use Ether shock. Heck, I think I've even turned him into a chicken before so abilities will work. Just nuke him with all you got. :D
Best way to ward-trap with Shadow Shaman is to use Hex or Eul's first. It reduces the size of the target and slows them down (they can't move if you use Eul's on them) making it easier to trap them in the wards.
Once trapped it's a good idea to focus the wards if necessary, so that they are attacking the hero rather than random creeps or whatever.
While the hero is trapped it is a good idea to just normal hit them. If the hero manages to get free (blink, destroying wards or you don't manage to trap them in the first place) then use the shackles to keep them in range of the wards.
If that still doesn't kill them, you always have Ether Shock to finish them off.
Since you have 2 disables (3 with Eul's, and 4 if you ward-trap a melee hero), Shadow Shaman is great at one-on-one battles. I've seen someone take down 2 opponents at once, but that will take a lot of micro-management skills and a lot of practice (especially with ward-trapping - not to mention knowing your opponents and which one to disable with what and when. All that will come with experience, something I'm still lacking myself.
are you the same ed that played in the other episodes? seriously he improved a lot and gained confidence when using his hero.
>> Creep Pulling. I learned this in HoN. Just force attack an enemy hero but without literally hitting him. The enemy creeps will start to run towards you. This will in turn swap the enemy creeps onto your side. Do this several times and youll just might be able to last hit them.
>> Another way is another kind of creep pulling. If you are on Radient(good) side, choose the bottom lane(or top lane for dire side). You will be able to pull neutral creeps toward incoming friendly creeps on your lane. This forces your lane to delay incoming creep support. The enemy creeps will eventually end up under your tower.
>> Once this happens, Pull the enemy creeps past your tower and kill them away from the tower. Enemy creeps(not including the catapult) will target heroes first rather than tower. The enemy heroes will have to fall back or suffer being under the tower range.
With this kind of creep pulling, you can either stand and last hit the neutral creeps or go and kill the enemy creeps. All depends on you and the location of your lane partner. Also if you have a jungler rather than a lane partner, tell your jungler to pull neutral creeps to your lane creeeps. This helps a lot.
>> Word of warning, professional players know that if their creeps end up on the wrong side of the opposing tower, they 'may' go to jungle to find out whats happening. This means you will have enemies in your jungle. And this is a good way to lure them into a gank as well.
You guys mentioned you play every Monday at 6pm, do people just hop on to a particular channel to join the game?
The tip from the viewer was absolutely correct. If you are being attacked by a tower and you manually attack (press 'A' and left click) your own creep, the tower will stop attacking you. This is also providing that you are not the closest unit to the tower. Just like Ed stated, the tower will think you are friendly and switch targets. This can come in handy when you are pushing towers and want to stop taking tower damage without running all the way out of its range. I've been playing for a while and just recently found this out.
I was that Anti-Mage, it was not fun being in that middle lane against that Mirana,
And before anyone asks, yes, I blinked into the trees. :P.
Probably should have went Bloodseeker or let that bot take the mid.
Wow that hero looks and sounds really stupid.
And the colorway is godawful. Whomever was in charge of designing that hero should be sacked post haste.
@KBigdog There might be new modes like there were in DotA 1 but it hasn't been confirmed that other modes (in DotA 1) will be put into DotA 2...but currently there is only 1 map...but there ate many heroes and experimenting new items and playing with new people will make it almost like a different game every match you play
@KBigdog yes for now , but with 100+ heroes and players changing every time , every game is a new experience ... you'll never get bored .
@Scorpion1813 Awesome! When you put it like that, Shadow Shaman sounds so badass. I'm glad we picked him.
@Epicurus-Reborn Please do! All new players are welcome.
@nicolasowen92 That is indeed the same Ed who has been playing since Part 1. I was so proud when he assisted with the First Blood in this game.
This must be what parents feel like when they see their child off to their first day of school.
Well, Shadow Shaman has 2 disables (3 if you get Euls) and has his wards for dealing massive damage. He's still quite squishy but I think he can stand up to other heroes a little better than Drow Ranger - especially if it's one-on-one.
I've even seen a DOTA 1 video of a Shadow Shaman taking on (and winning) against 2 tanky heroes.
SS is an amazing hero and I'm surprised at how little he gets picked (in All Pick games at least).
@sorinpam there is a ranking system in place, your individual rank's just invisible. Your rank goes up or down with each game, and matchmaking tries to place you with roughly even opponents.
There's no way to check your "true" ranking, but to get a rough idea of where the game is placing you, go to the "Watch" tab, then "Recent Games: and try filtering for your player name. There's a "skill level" filter on this page, you can use it to check what the game is ranking your matches as. It's a bit of a roundabout way to check, but you should get the general gist of the caliber of opponents you're going against.
*Too many BRs. Btw you sound like a stupid fanboy saying it should 100% copy LoL leveling system; even the level at which you can join ranked. No LoL hate, just get your head out of the gutter.
@TheKiwiMantis the first thing is not creep pulling. It is called "taking the agro from the creeps. It also happens when the tower hits you , if you give an attack order to a friendly creep or hero the agro from the tower will eventually change. Plus Pros, if they see that you have pulled the wave to the neutral camp they will more likely push your tower, so you must be very carefull when and against which enemy hero lineup you re pulling (7 years dota-dota2 experience)
Enemy Creep pulling works very well in HoN and DOTA2. But only works in LoL for ranged players as creeps only target you if you literally do damage to enemy players. Rarely anyone does creep pulling on LoL and much more in HoN.
@pupp3t_mast3r I am also quite curious about when you guys play, aswell as which time-zone you go by.
@Zaknaifen it also works if you attack a friendly hero. plus sometimes if you both attacking the tower and it hits you the tower agro will turn against your friendly hero. it so funny. i do it all the time when i play with a friend
Shadow Shaman is actually one of my favourite characters in DOTA. Each to their own I guess, but I don't think you need to insult the creative team behind this awesome game because of your opinion.
@hatespark1234 Thanks! I will take your word for it on the never getting bored for now, but if I play and eventually get bored... I'm coming for you.....
@doorselfin Oh he is!
He is one of the best pushers in the game - with enough mana regen in mid-late game, you can spam Ether Shock all the way to the enemy base in no time.
He's great at saving a fleeing ally with a quick Hex or Shackles.
Oh, and with a Refresher Orb your Serpent Wards can blow a hole in your enemies base (with a bit of back-up of course).
I'm glad you like playing as him and can't wait until next week to see what you can do with him.
@spencerdawson wot is wrong with ranked at lvl 30(they can do it at lvl 10 for wot i care ,but just do it .)Just saying if they reach lvl 10 or more they know wot last hit is ........but if is their first game they dont have a clue......So imagine u get 3 players in ur team that dont know wot last hit is ....30-50 min of pain .....
@Zaknaifen I really hope they do pick a US-friendly time, I'd love to play a game with them
