I really liked the old d.k. games but I don't like the look of how much health you have with diddy on your back. If they make it to easy the game will become less fun. I do love the multitude of secrets though.
This game still looks inferior to SNES version. If you guys haven't played SNES versions, I highly recommend them.
Lol they made sure to let you know there is Snow Levels in this one huh? Put it in the title? Cheesy but I'm sure it will be awesome.
DK Country Returns on the Wii was a great platformer and I am sure this will be great too. If you have the chance I highly recommend playing it. I just wish Retro was making something else.
I can't wait for Nintendo's next console, the Nintendo Revolution, it will be awesome.
would have been nice to see some dixi gameplay....and honestly guys the reason nintendo probably hasnt made a game like DK64 is because rare probably walked away with the rights to that game when they left....that or nintendo just decided not to remake the game out of respect for their old company......maybe one day nintendo will buy them back but I doubt they would be as good as they would used to be
Who on earth will give 350 + 60 --- 410$$ to play a 2D scrolling game that easily could have been a Wii game or even 3DS ... And this was supposed one of their best games in E3...
Yep... I was waiting for some kind of "Donkey Kong Galaxy" instead of "Super Donkey Kong Bros U". That means.. at least 2 years more in expectation for an announcement of a DK in a REAL 3D World.
The best WiiU games coming will be the 2D side scrolling type with 3D graphics... : /
Nintendo... please... This game looks good, i wanna play it, but it's not enougth. We need super productions. And it does not looks like a super production.
Huge disappointment. Recent donkeykong games look much much inferior to NES version. It would be much better if they just release HD version of NES original games.
Looks good. I wish the music was more like Donkey Kong Country from SNES, 'cause that was fantastic, these are less great in my opinion, even the remixes.
My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana. I said 'No, but I want a regular banana later, so... yeah.'
If only the wii never happened and this is what we were playing 7 years ago. I wonder what games Nintendo will be making now.
I couldn't believe that this game was for the Wii U at first. I'm not a hater, it actually looks as fun as the originals (and that's high praise considering they're some of my all time favorite games).
The thing is, it graphically looks like a GameCube title (and in some aspects more plain, even). It isn't just the technical graphics, but probably has more to do with the overall art direction. It seems underdeveloped and a bit too washed-out. If you don't understand what I mean, then compare it artistically to Mario Galaxy on Wii or Sonic Generations on PS3/Xbox360.
Or if you really want to take it back, you can compare it to its predecessors Donkey Kong Country 1&2. The presentation doesn't do the game justice. It looks like a great game. On the upside, David Wise is back!!!
My wish is that one day Nintendo will follow SEGA & become video games developers & publisher, period. No console, except for the portable ones.
Then, we could enjoy Mario, Zelda & Donkey Kong on our platform of choice, without having to buy another console just for that.
I am a one-console man. (per generation).
@tomservo51 only for multiplayer
@modernrow Have you play Donkey Kong Country Returns? Giving you extra hearts was no mercy spared by the developers; this game is sticken hard. I had your same concerns before actually playing the game.
@JoonKimDMD i have no idea how you could say it look inferior, I did have the SNES versions and play the poo out of them. I had an SNES when I moved into my first apartment.
It amazes me how far they've gone with these games over my lifespan. day one buy for me. DK Returns had epic level design, there were so many times with the world falling apart around me that totally wowed me.
The old school games can't compete. I still play them from time to time and while they are timeless, the future is here.
@AzatiS Gotta say this game looks pretty good but I'm nowhere near to wanting to buy a wiiu
@youngzen69 Donkey Kong and Mario games have traditionally been this way...what you want Donkey Kong to pick up an Ak47 and call in Air strikes? lol
@youngzen69 Yep, we get enough of reality outside the window.
@JoonKimDMD keep ur stupid comments for ur self.
Well good news my fine friend. They got the original composer David Wise to create the tracks for this game again. He did not work on Returns for the Wii.
Let's see if he'll be as good as he used to be back in the day. He created all of those signature DK Songs mind you. He's a genius.
@MegaMark1991 I know . All I wanted was an open world Mario game. But another game like DK64 would be epic. I am waiting to buy anything until I see a free roam Mario or DK.
@MegaMark1991 I recon, but i thought about this and hear me out, Rare has the rights to the Kremlings right? so maybe this is nintendos way of introducing new bad guys, makes sense (Hence the vikings).
@BradBurns Its probably the art direction, at a certain point you cant rally do much more. Another example is the style of NSMB, the U version is probably as nice as it can get. Its not bad looking, but its also not puching any envelopes.
@Muddrox_dev @modernrow I have all 3 of the old SNES DK games and I agree, this game is very tough, old school tough. Do not worry this game is quite challenging even if you're good at the old DKs.. It's even harder if you want to risk your life for all the DK pieces or puzzle pieces. You will want to stock up your lives for this game.
@IanNottinghamX @youngzen69 The Wii U is a HD console. I would like to begin seeing HD graphics that shows off the power of the Wii U. A lot of these games would look just as good on the 3DS.
Rare can't own the rights to the Kremmlings, that would be absurd.
I think that Nintendo owns the rights to everything Rare created and put into the original DKC games. I don't see how they could somehow only keep the rights to the baddies or something.
I think that they just wanted to start over and create a new threat to the DK Universe. Howver, I feel that I, and many others would have preferred to see the Kremmlings again. They Rule.
The Dead Or Alive series has also suffered from this in my opinion. The original DOA 2's art style was created to look amazing on the Dreamcast, originally. As time passed and new sequels were created the art remained stagnant. No matter how many more polies the character models were rocking on new tech, the game still seemed outdated to me. Fast forward to the newest entry in the series (DOA5) and they finally changed the art style in order to make the characters a wee bit more realistic.
As for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, they should try to evolve the art to allow for some more detail. Maybe try to recreate the style that was used on the original DKC games, only on cutting edge tech?
@lazarius12 @Blood-Online and you need to grow up. thats right sega used to have one of the top gaming system Mega derive but now they are game makers and thats good .. Nintendo have so limited exclusives, rather start making games on multiplatform plus they may release on pc as well there so much gamers can do on PC platform to increase the replay value of the game with modifying the game content, and playing Nintendo games on other platform like ps and xbox is also good as we can just buy a game instead of buying the damn expensive console, like it or not if Nintendo dont get more new games then it will have to follow the route of sega or else they can keep releasing same gametype with different names...
@youngzen69 You seem like a moronic troll. HD is a resolution, it doesn't have to look "real" to be HD. Dumbass
@youngzen69 really? umm go play DCR on wii then play on 3ds it doesn't even compare lol.
@rIVAL_sWORD84, what are u talkin about?!!. I rather see the mighty N bankrupt than doing games for pc or the soulless platforms ps and xbox. Is not all about money.
