These are the kinds of games I enjoy. I grew up playing old-school NES / SNES platformers, RPGs, etc. It always makes me shake my head when I read Crytek's latest interview, where they boast that ultra-realism is all that matters when it comes to delivering a great experience.
I was at the game store earlier today, and looking at the rows of games, and looking at Gears of War, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and a few others.... they all look alike to me. I don't doubt they're good; I'm sure a lot of people would call them great. But it's just not for me.
Nintendo has the franchises I grew up with, and the ones I want to play. They've never been about hyper-realism, which leaves the games to stand up on their own. I'll take a Mario Galaxy over a Gears of War, a Zelda over a Call of Duty, and a DKC over a MGS.
