As a parent and a gamer let me preemptively come up with my answer if my kid wants this game:
"No. Now go play your Mario."
I just pre-ordered it....and all of the characters from the play sets it comes with......and 3 power dis packs and an album that holds them....yes I own every skylander and I have a problem
I haven't found any real answer, but has anyone come across if this game is going to also be on the XBO / ps4? It looks like fun and my GF and kids want it but I'm not sure if I should get it when it comes out or just hold off on getting the next gen version? I just don't want to end up paying for the game portion twice.
What frustrates me is that Nintendo could have had all this first.
I suggested all this and more before the Wii was even revealed fully.
I even suggested it should have been built directly into the console so that everyone could access and play with this type of software out the box on day one.
Now, imagine that on a Nintendo console around 7-8 years ago...
I was so far ahead of the curve but who am I for anyone to listen.
@Poodlejumper All the money it takes to play this game aside would you buy this for your kid (or play it yourself) if it were a $60 game with all its content accessible from the disc
@Eyal-KOKO-Stern Just like Skylanders, but we all know Disneys version will cost more across the board lol, it always does. This does give you a lot more to do though and it looks like fun.
I actually emailed Disney with this exact same question and I got the typical big business response which means they didn't really answer the question.
They said that they were focusing their attention on the launch of the game and that means they are focusing on the platforms that are available when the game launches. They would not rule out that it could be available for future consoles, but they had no information at this time since they are only concerned with current platforms.
Read into this and I think they will be coming out for the PS4 and Xbox 1, but don't want to say so because then people might not go buy this when it launches in Aug to wait for the new version. Thus hurting their sales of the game. I know I don't want to buy it twice. But since we have no info on an xbox 1 version (which is what I will be getting when it comes out in Nov) I am stuck with buying it for the wii. I figure if my kids still are playing if and when the xbox comes out, I will get it for that platform as well..... but not everyone will do that.... \
Also, since Skylanders has announced they will be on the new platforms, I cant see Disney ignoring that market with its "new" big thing....
But they wont say....
@nickpeck36 They haven't officially announced it for PS4 or X1, but it could happen at some point. I think a straight-up port of the upcoming release to PS4/X1 is not very likely, but there will undoubtedly be a sequel or 'extra-stuff' version of some kind, after a year or two.
This might help you:
Quoted from article
Day added that toys and toy readers released now will be compatible with future consoles.
"We're going to be using the same reader, the same near-field communications tech moving forward.
"So Mr Incredible from this version of Infinity, in all likelihood, should work on whatever we're doing with Infinity five years from now."
Day added that future next-gen versions of Disney Infinity will likely result in a game that will be "way more beautiful", offer "a whole lot more" content, "or both".
@amaneuvering Who cares what you suggested? LOL not like you work for them. Get ove ryourself.
@eze_sl89 Infinity is already high on the "most anticipated" list at gamestop. That's a lot of no ones
@eze_sl89 Watch this sell buttloads. A lot of kiddies will fall over with excitement to get this from Santa.
@sirdukefillion Possibly..but the model is what makes it repulsive.
That's not changing.
It's my job as a parent to teach my child the value of money.\
