Deus Ex: Human Revolution Starting Block
Danny O'Dwyer has got some tips to help guide you through Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
@hammertime1080 - Oh I'll definitely be picking this one up at some point in the not too distant future. Unfortunately we're going from an empty dance card of games to a gluttony in Q4 this year so I've got to manage my wallet and gameplay time.
@endorbr Don't let the graphics throw you off. It's very rare that a game will have both amazing graphics and gameplay elements. And as ugly as this game may be at times there are times where the art direction shines and the gameplay is a beast for the most part. I'm thankful that there are still devs who put gameplay above graphics.
I'm definitely interested in this game and I'll probably pick it up eventually but I've got to say from the gameplay footage I've seen I'm kinda disappointed in the graphics. Things look really square and blocky for this generation of consoles and PCs. It just really reminds of something like an N64 or PS2 game.
@ohjtbehaaave Yeah, the 3rd person view to 1st person view switching is kinda weird, but it's one of those things the player will get used as they're playing the game But I wouldn't turn it into an entirely stealth game, as the Deus Ex series is about choice on how you play the game, with different outcomes, so by making it a stealth game, you'd be removing that choice, one of the core elements of gameplay
EB Games called me yesterday to tell me that the game arrived but I can't pick it up until tomorrow... These guys love to tease us... ;)
@7rooper You do know that OXMuk gave it a 10 out of 10 right? and a 94% from PCgamerUk. And an 8/10 from OPMuk. So we have the 3 reviews and the lowest score is higher than the highest score Duke Forever got.
@7rooper No one has a crystal ball. Not even you. Also, you sound like someone who cannot understand the meaning of "Don't judge a book by its cover." Oh and I'll also throw-in the age-old and ever-true saying... gameplay>graphics.
The review scores are incredibly high everywhere, this looks like it will finally be a game to live up to the original. 11 years I've waited. Literally wetting my pants over this...
So dated. This games will fail nearly as much as Duke Nukem forever did. The footage I've seen so far exhibits strongly scripted paths, stupid AI behavior, and gameplay we've seen around for the last 5 years in great games like Mass Effect or Rainbow Six Vegas. It's a total rip off and I don't even want to start with the graphics. They're terrible :S
If only I could get 'super late-night, extra early' release date shipping from Amazon.....:? Gaah, the wait is driving me insane!!! @ohjtbehaaave, Though I do agree w/ you a little bit when it comes to viewpoint (I, too, personally wish it was more 3rd person than anything else)--I wholly suck at FPV and it makes me a bit disoriented, at times in games--I don't think it'll make any less awesome as a game. Who knows maybe there are some settings in the game that may help camera angle/viewpoints (I kinda hope so), but if not then that's cool; it just a learning curve some of us have to work around. I'm at least thankful, the entire game isn't stuck in that FP mode, that would really make it unplayable for me.
I hate how in games all guns have fire coming out of the barrel in real life it goes so fast that you can't see it or not at all its just smoke.
Cool, never played a deus ex game and havn't heard much about this but I think they might have a new fan cause this looks cool
Game looks cool and I like the new stealth and cover elements. I just wish the devs would have gone the whole way with this Splinter Cell/MGS style and made it a 3rd person view game. The flipping back from 3rd person to FP view just looks odd. They should have just given us the option to click on something to go into FP view. Forget the old Deus Ex games in FP... this could have been an epic MGS type game in 3rd person.
